"He said he called his sister and told her about finally getting the letter and she thought it was "kind of neat."

That about sums it up for me. Kind of.

Yeah, that article was hard to read.
loved this line tho... "I looked at it and said, 'What?'"

Now if she had died, making that letter her last coorespondnence to him, that would be interesting.

But it's just a story about a lost letter finally being delivered, ranking it on par with the "library book that was returned X years late" stories. Mildly interesting, but not much to it.

The System Works!!!

I always had a hard time getting mail when I was in the Corps.

Part of it was due to the half-assed mail system set up at whatever base I was actually at. Most of it was because the mail clerk was always the biggest sh*tbag the unit had, and was stuck in that job as a way to get rid of the dumb bastard.

Hell, I had an easier time getting mail in Iraq than I did in Okinawa, or 29 Palms for that matter.

P.S. Disco sucks.

Yet they still continue to increase the cost of postage. If I were 35 years late delivering on a project, I doubt I could raise my fees and get away with it.

Just sayin.

It was actually a "Dear John" letter..... the slut.

Hey, my sister is from 1975, too. Weird coincidence.

Yes, but most of us can't afford private shipping for every letter, either. If I had to Fed Ex my bill payments, I couldn't afford to pay the bills in the first place.

That explains what happened to my $300,000 check from that Nigerian Prince that I sent $50,000 to back in 1999.

Pay them online? Privately.

I'll be damned! That's from the local rag! Ashmore?!?

Pay them online? Privately.

Works for some things but not for others. The lovely bank that holds my mortgage, for instance, allows online payments, but (A) doesn't guarantee anything unless you still mail in the monthly payment form itself, and (B) doesn't take credit cards -- they want direct access to my checking account. And if they overbill me, oops, I'm the one who's liable for the fallout, unlike with a credit card.

The gas company isn't quite as much of a pain in the ass: They still want direct access to my account, though, and they want to charge a $6 "convenience fee" every month if I pay electronically.

Still, this is all aside from the point as far as the comparison to health care goes.
