It was better when they added "The Professor and Mary Anne," in place of "and the rest."

"Touchdown Jesus" got a lightning bolt.

Atheist billboards get spray paint.

I guess God hates the Touchdown Jesus more than He hates atheists.

In the original thread I said maybe the whole flag motif would deter those who might vandalize it. My bad.

I like how "One Nation Indivisible" is somehow "controversial" to some people.

2010-06-28 10:44:58 AM
I love picturing the guy who got so worked up, he climbed up there and spray-painted the billboard. I wish I coulda seen it. Angry people crack me up.

Actually, I'm disappointed that he didn't accidentally fall off the billboard to his death. That would have REALLY pissed him off.

It's not the words, it's the thought behind the words. This of course doesn't apply to the bible. Except when it does.

Given the can control, one can safely assume the vandal has climbed to the top of many water towers to refute existing assertions by painting "No, she doesn't!" after "(vandal's sister) LOVES IT IN THE ASS!"

Speaking of which someone else now needs to climb back up there, cross out "God" and put "McCarthy."

Is nothing sacred?!?

2010-06-28 11:37:24 AM
I'm surprised the graffiti is so tame. The choice of phrase is ironic, given that "under God," was shoehorned into the pledge in the first place.

Sybarite: Is nothing sacred?!?

That's 100 internet points for you.

2010-06-28 11:39:06 AM
It reminds me of the fortune cookie game where you say "in bed" after reading your fortune.

"You will be pleasantly surprised tonight......in bed."

It's a miracle!

"You'll be having crazy monkey sex tonight......under god."

Hey! It works!

. . . so, the original form of the pledge is offensive?

2010-06-28 11:57:28 AM
I can't believe there is no one yet saying the athiests did it themselves, just to get attention.

2010-06-28 12:04:08 PM
I am appalled that someone would deface a billboard. Appalled.

Wow, I guessed two weeks before it got vandalized, looks like I had way too much faith in the tolerance of religious people. Silly me.

oh...wrong, "billboard". My bad. Sorry.

Breaking the law for the lord.

What I don't understand is why it would take days to send someone up with a bucket of white paint to block out most of the under god.

Insecure little farks, these jebus groupies.

Undergod?

you know, it seems like god isn't really trying anymore. in the old days he would ruin people's lives just to prove a point. he would destroy entire cities on a whim because they took his name in vain. now he has to rely on a redneck with a can of paint to defend him?

you can do better than that god!

JerseyTim: I love picturing the guy who got so worked up, he climbed up there and spray-painted the billboard. I wish I coulda seen it. Angry people crack me up.

If you really want funny picture an entire organization, supported by a large number of people, that got so worked up that they bought a billboard to antagonize the people they're angry at. But hey, good job spending thousands of dollars so someone with a $1.50 can of spray paint could appropriate it to make their point that much more publically. Everybody wins.

2010-06-28 12:35:56 PM
Who is this Undergod you keep speaking of? Some powerful mole man?

2010-06-28 12:36:06 PM
That'll show them atheists. Surely now they will all convert to Christianity.

2010-06-28 12:36:21 PM
It's okay, because god condones vandalism.

2010-06-28 12:36:35 PM
Well at least they're making progress. Sort of.
I mean, they didn't bomb any medical clinics or shoot any doctors this time.

2010-06-28 12:37:00 PM
Secular, not atheist.

2010-06-28 12:37:22 PM
Obviously it was a bunch of liberals who are too stupid to acknowledge that 1953 was America's cultural apex.

/ Right?

2010-06-28 12:38:09 PM
It's just an ugly piece of crap billboard, big deal. Burn it to the ground next time. Maybe Jesus will protect you from being raped in prison when you get caught.

/I hate 70% of you, nine times, and you don't care.

Quinzy: What I don't understand is why it would take days to send someone up with a bucket of white paint to block out most of the under god.

They sent out a bunch of guys with paint, but they couldn't get past the flood, frogs, hail, sandstorm, burning bush, glacier, and oil spill. The guy who got through didn't do a good job because he had hives.

Because atheists and agnostics are a large group of powerful people dedicated to antagonism.

BackAssward: I can't believe there is no one yet saying the athiests did it themselves, just to get attention.

Well, you just took care of it.

Overzealous Christian or AW atheist, neither would be a big surprise.

Ironic Unitarian, now that would be a big surprise.

Yeah, that billboard was so in-your-face. They were asking for it...wearing those short skirts and all.
