There, we elected a black president and lost to an african country so we're square on the whole slavery thing.

Spanky_McFarksalot: There, we elected a black president and lost to an african country so we're square on the whole slavery thing.

yep, I definitely think that those two events will finally end the centuries-old conflict. We should have just done this earlier!

/strong showing by the US

Good. Can this World Cup nonsense go away now?

I'm glad I can stop pretending to care about soccer and resume pretending to care about the oil in the gulf.

We should stick with the ballegg.

2010-06-26 05:39:34 PM
So the US lost to the Ghana-rians?

2010-06-26 05:39:42 PM
I hope Slovakia is still in it after the 30th, I'm gonna be in
Austria and I wanna get down on some real World Cup partying.

2010-06-26 05:39:59 PM
I would've gone with "US eliminated by Ghana 2-1. This is not a repeat from 2006", but this one is better.

shiatty first half, great second half shiatty extra time. Not so much an exciting game.

2010-06-26 05:40:40 PM
It's as if millions suddenly cried out...then shrugged, remembered they didn't gave a shiat about soccer in the first place, and changed the channel.

2010-06-26 05:41:02 PM
Hmm. Is it pronounced Gaaaana or Gahna? I'm not that worldly, thought it was the former.

Defiance_: I'm glad I can stop pretending to care about soccer and resume pretending to care about the oil in the gulf.

Don't bother, it's a natural cycle. It will take care of itself.

CravenMorehead: Good. Can this World Cup nonsense go away now?

Sorry, no. Some of us have really been hooked by soccer. I'm buying merchandise for an English team AND an MLS team on Amazon in another tab right now.

Hate more, I'll just find a team in the Bundesliga to support.

2010-06-26 05:42:15 PM
Two bad we couldn't put together two solid halves of a game in the same game. That's what we needed and it just didn't happen. Playing like this I don't think we would've cleared the next round anyway.

Still happy they accomplished this much. Now it looks like it's less of a talent thing and more of a mental and teamwork thing.

This loss is going to sting most Americans for a long time.

Maybe even a few hours.

Who the hell cares about hockey anyway?

2010-06-26 05:42:54 PM
Thanks for both teams for a match well played, and to the refs for running it superbly.

At least we were beaten honestly by a good team and not a bunch of whiny divers like some other national teams I could name.

It's also nice to see an African team advance in this historic first African World Cup.

Now, if you will excuse me, I am off to cry in my beer. Lots and lots of beer.

fark Bob Bradley, fark Rico Clark, and fark Robbie Findley. Absolutely inexcusable. Also, I take back most of the nasty things I said about Johnny Bornstein. Gyan should get a ton of money this transfer season.

Leaving satisfied.

awwwww, USA... its ok, you still have your big win over Canada last February.

No?

2010-06-26 05:46:01 PM
I'll say here what I've been saying everywhere:

USA, I salute you. Fantastic run. Now, I have but one thing to say to you:

LEARN HOW TO PLAY THE FIRST HALF OF A GAME!!!!!

Yeah - that was a definite mistake on his part. Why he'd break up a good unit I don't know.

And why couldn't he get the team to put together two good halves?

2/10 You should get a few bites, especially calling out a failure of a team at the end.

2010-06-26 05:49:09 PM
At least it was a decently played and refereed game.

We came damn close twice. Sometimes it's just luck.

Americans: As my countrymen, if you abandon this team and this game again now, will prove nothing but how childish and easily wounded you are.

I'm going to go hang out with my other countrymen in Portugal. Even if we lose, we're still going to love the Beautiful Game.
