Robert Pattinson just wants to be left alone. Is that too much to ask?

Oh good grief enough of this already! How much longer until this Twilight shiat goes away?

Oh and he can impale me anytime.

No he isn't.

Die, Twilight.

I heard this on the news yesterday while Chanel 7 covered Twi-tards in line for their latest precious offering. I rolled my eyes and wanted to biatch slap whomever came up with this madness. Hard. And then impale them in Vlad fashion and watch them die.

According to ancestry.com, I'm related to Ferdinand Von Zeppelin. I figure I'm entitled to one Final Fantasy style airship.

I'm calling BS, especially since it's Ancestry.(com/co.uk). They would just love to have 100,000,000 Twilight fans jump on their servers. It's no different than the "Who Do You Think You Are" hour-long commercials that NBC had earlier this year.

2010-06-24 11:42:42 AM
The good news is apparently I'm related to Vlad the Impaler as well. The bad news is I might actually be related to Robert Patterson and Stephanie Meyer. Actually given how much fun Patterson seems to have mocking the Twilight fans, I guess the former isn't that bad.

2010-06-24 11:46:15 AM
Everyone is related to everyone. Especially when you throw in great-great-great-great uncles and seventh-cousins-thrice-removed. If he was a DIRECT decendant, that would be one thing. But he ain't.

And then there's the issue of whether you can trust genealogy through that many generations. If you go back far enough, you can almost guarantee that some "researcher" made (or invented) some tenuous connections at some point. Everyone wants to be related to royalty and/or the famous. And then there's the little issue that people have affairs, and that not every daddy is really the daddy. So even if all of the documents say you're related to so-and-so, you may very well not be.

Further atrocities committed by Vlad included torture, burning, skinning, roasting, cutting off limbs and drowning.

Good to see that Pattinson is keeping up the family tradition. Watching the Twilight movies feels like torture, even when watching the Riffed versions.

I thought Robert Pattinson was related to Pattin's son, considering that's his farking last name.

Everyone wants to be related to money. Too bad though, if your last name is Fuller, you're related to the guy who stomped sheep's wool in pee to make it soft. If you're a Tanner, your ancestors rubbed poop on animal skin to make it stretchable. And I think you Bakers, Smiths, Shoemakers, Masons, Carpenters, Farmers, Millers, and Coopers know where your family trees start.

/Last name is Pryor
//Ancestor was a guy who worked for an abbot

Why go for the poster when you can see the trailer for the gay Twilight porn?

If you're Icelandic, though, your last name is genealogically useless past one generation.

Is it true though, all of it? I just wonder sometimes...they had bad press/rumor mills back then as well and I am curious to know if we today would understand the difference between a medevial 'tabloid' and a 'true account', verified by multiple parties?? As a countess with holdings, she would have had some enemies. Gossip is still gossip, whether it be in dusty tomes or a glossy rag.

I have no idea which is true. I just think it deserves some thought.

Dracula wasn't a cocksucker. So what exactly is the point here?

I like how when people trace their ancestry they somehow are always related to the most popular person from the country their ancestors come from. It is like when people recount their past lives and are always someone famous.

In my past lives I was a king, a pope, a world famous explorer, and president of the United States. I am taking a break right know and living a pretty average life.

Yeah, I knew a girl once that was convinced she was related to Marie Antoniette. She didn't look happy when I told her she was more likely to be related to the chick who emptied her chamberpot.

My gramma (paternal) does geneology and told me I have (on the maternal side)2 great-great (or whatever) uncles hung for horse theiving. She seemed to think this was profound...but again, she disclosed this right after she had bailed me out of jail. *shrugs*

Did anyone else notice that the article states that Robert Pattinson is 'U.S. born'? I'm fairly certain he was born in England, and I would think a "newspaper" from the UK would be able to get that fact correct.

It's both Subby.

Funny thing about "geneaology" The farther backa histocial figure lived, the more people are related to them. Figure that a human generation is around 25 years, which means that asingle person living, say 500 years ago would have twenty generations of offspring with meant that if just 2 people survived from each generation, a total of 1,048,576 people could be potentially related to them, and the more famous a person was the more likely they had a lot more than two offspring. I reacll reading that probably half the extant population of the world can claim Atilla the Hun as an ancestor and at least 1/3 of the world is in some way related to Ghenghis Khan

They don't want to claim him? It's like Fox putting a D behind disgraced republicans' names.

My several greats grandfather had to high tail it out of Ireland, because he ran off with the earl's daughter. He was the gardener. Others had to sneak out in the middle of the night due to certain misunderstandings about the ownership of some horses and other assorted hi-jinks.

My dad is interested in genealogy, and I'm interested in history, so he gives me names, and I flesh out the information.

FTA: Vlad III Dracula, more commonly known as Vlad the impaler, was born in Transylvania and ruled over Wallachia, now a region of Romania, between 1456 and 1462.

Dubbed 'the impaler', he was infamous for brutally executing his enemies, primarily Turks of the Ottoman Empire, by driving wooden stakes into the bodies of his victims and erecting the spectacle for all to see. It is estimated he killed up to 50,000 people.

Further atrocities committed by Vlad included torture, burning, skinning, roasting, cutting off limbs and drowning. These were primarily punishments for stealing, lying and adultery.

For those who argue that a four- or eight-year presidential term is not enough time to create any meaningful change - look at all that Vlad got accomplished in SIX.

Andulamb: Everyone wants to be related to royalty and/or the famous.

True. It's the same with this "past life" stuff. I notice everyone who claims to "remember" a past life was always Cleopatra or Henry the Eighth. Somehow, no-one ever remembers being Joe the garbageman from Jersey.
