I think I came. Just a little.

2010-06-24 06:00:17 AM
I love the Orion Spaceplane. I guess United must have bought it when Pan-Am went out of business.

2010-06-24 06:01:12 AM
Damn! When was this? I would love to see those in flight! Seriously, I didn't know we've had a moon plane in service for the past 40 years. WHY WASN"T I TOLD?!!

2010-06-24 06:54:13 AM
Holy crap. This is some of the best CG work I've ever seen (that
first shot of the Eagle with people standing around was so good I
had to look twice).

Extra tech nerd props for including the Mark IX Hawk (always my
favorite of the SPACE: 1999 ships), as well as the SPINDRIFT and
the Flying Sub (though the landing gear looked a bit too clunky
and out of scale).

Of course, this will be redlit in favor of 9 million duplicate links about Lady GaGa....

It depends on who is minding the store and the time of day.

2010-06-24 08:19:03 AM
I'll take two, of all of them.

2010-06-24 08:19:24 AM
Where do I get tickets?!?!
SOMEONE HAS TO KNOW WHERE TO GET TICKETS!!!

2010-06-24 08:19:39 AM

real_headhoncho: I always thought the Orion was lager than this:

Its nice to have someone standing next to it to show it's true size.

That's the other Orion you're thinking of. People wouldn't stand that close to Freeman Dyson's design due to residual radioactivity.

2010-06-24 08:19:42 AM
Brilliant. And yes, top-notch photoshop/CG work there. I saw almost no pixels, despite seeing quite a few 'shops in my time.

I'd never heard of the "Spindrift" before, apparently it's from a show called "Land of the Giants".

2010-06-24 08:20:37 AM
I always, always wanted an Eagle... but the Hawk is cool too.

I thought I was the only one who remembered the flying sub...

2010-06-24 08:25:27 AM
I'd settle for a Cessna 172.

2010-06-24 08:25:30 AM
I remember the Buckinghamshire crash like it was yesterday.

2010-06-24 08:26:23 AM
I was a little disappointed not to see an SA-43 Hammerhead, but that's a small complaint.

2010-06-24 08:28:58 AM
are those all from the same show? which show(s)?

2010-06-24 08:30:47 AM
This needs to become real. I would pay damn good money to...uh....take my kid...yeah...my kid to go see this.

2010-06-24 08:31:15 AM
THANKS SUBBY!!!!
That was the coolest airshow I'll ever see!!!
Loved the cow enhanced crash.

2010-06-24 08:31:47 AM
Dibs on the Vipers. All of them.

2010-06-24 08:32:39 AM
I would have liked to have seen some Babylon 5 in there, even though it doesn't fit into the timeline and looking like they were rendered on a GeForce2 would have stuck out like a sore thumb.

/Still the best show ever IMHO
//We are all Kosh

2010-06-24 08:33:54 AM
It was kind of cool learning that the controls for the Vipers are very similar to the F-14 so the Air Force pilots hired to fly them for the show would be familiar with the controls. They also deleted the turbo boosters from all three craft because they were "often troublesome".

Didn't know the colonial shuttles were that large inside either. Damn near the same cargo space as a C-130!

Really awesome show. I also thought the Orion III was a lot smaller in person.

2010-06-24 08:35:04 AM

real_headhoncho: I think I came. Just a little.

Hold on, I'll get us both some tissue...

2010-06-24 08:37:36 AM
One more thing: What's the ship in the left hand of the photo of people touring the Orion's interior? The little white ship sitting next to the starboard wing?

2010-06-24 08:39:25 AM
First time I saw this link a couple days ago, I was actually trying to figure out if these pics were photoshopped, or if some person actually built mockups of these ships.

The logical part of me suspected the former, but the nerd in me hoped for the latter.

2010-06-24 08:40:07 AM

Observatory: are those all from the same show? which show(s)?

Vipers-Battlestar Galactica
Eagle/Hawk-Space: 1999
Spindrift-Land of the Giants
Flying Stingray-Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
Shuttlecraft-Star Trek
The Orion-2001?

2010-06-24 08:40:25 AM
Perchance were the base photos taken at this year's Andrews AFB airshow?

I wonder if they'll expand the category to include non-atmospheric capable ships someday.

/Would have towed it from them both from the wreck yard if I had a truck big enough...

2010-06-24 08:42:08 AM
Someone needs to build a mock up of:

ist1-4.filesor.com

and rebuild:

way south: I wonder if they'll expand the category to include non-atmospheric capable ships someday.

I remember that show.

I was actually a little disappointed that this one didn't make it:

Observatory: are those all from the same show? which show(s)?

Space 1999, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, the original Battlestar Galactica, and a few others...

Hey, where's the Vulture from Salvage 1?

2010-06-24 08:45:28 AM
Frakkin' sweet!

2010-06-24 08:47:41 AM

FrancoFile: Hey, where's the Vulture from Salvage 1?

That would be a cool one.

2010-06-24 08:48:25 AM
Wow.
Just 'wow'.

But this... is ALL hat CGI? I ask because while I know the flying pics are fake I thought the ground pics were mock-ups that people could tour...

Any clarification would be appreciated.

2010-06-24 08:49:50 AM
Looks like the site is now hozed.. Damnitmuch, I want my Eagle.

2010-06-24 08:53:22 AM

UNC_Samurai: SA-43 Hammerhead

Those are currently on-loan to the Belgian Air Component due to the numerous UFO incursions they've had to deal with over the past few decades.

2010-06-24 08:58:53 AM

FrancoFile: Vulture from Salvage 1

Oh, that crashed back in they 80's in the Arizona desert. Didn't make the news as a crash because since it was made of "recycled" objects, it was just thought to be a pile of junk someone dumped.

Not counting ones about Republicans or the clergy, this is the first thread I've been in where a Gay Deceiver joke would work.

Looks like it. I mean really, could only have happened faster with this crowd if it was a link to free tits and beer.

Throw in a few blue nympho alien chicks and it'd be perfect.

He's saying I have a "crazy" Nom de Fark, and I guess he somehow associates 'dittybopper' with Vietnam. Closest I ever got to Vietnam was Hawaii.
