That is nothing compared to the semester my boyfriend's roommates managed to never take out the trash. I refused to come near the place until the RA made them clean it up. They used the piles of moldy pizza boxes as mini-trash cans to store uneaten food and beer bottles for tissues and other refuse that could fit inside them...

Sounds like my freshman year roommates. Came back after a weekend out with my fraternity (Epsilon Tau Pi) and apparently my roommates decided to feed a stray cat, milk, from a cup. Yeah...the cat had tipped the cup over in the middle of the room, onto the dirty laundry, and had let it sit there all weekend. Yeah, NOT FUN.

Even if you keep meat in the refrigerator, the juices will eventually run out of it and onto the refrigerator floor where you won't be able to clean it and after a few days it begins to smell like a rotting corpse is hiding in your kitchen. A week after that and your whole studio apartment smells like death.

Then you go and clean it up again and find that you've left lettuce in a bag in the crisper and it's turned into this green-black liquid and it's sitting next to a bag of tangerines that have gone moldy and turned blue-green and fuzzy and have the texture of Floam.

Living alone was bad enough. I'd hate to have to live with a group of people like me.

No college kids are ever going to be the worst. College kids have to move eventually. The people with the truly rankest houses have been working on their collections for a decade or more, breeding things in the moist piles of crap they use for walls.

These guys are amateurs. Our house use to look like that every weekend. I've got a protip for them. You need a push broom, snow shovels, and big ass trash can. Use the push broom to knock everything off the furniture and onto the floor. After that you snow shovel it into the big ass trash cans. Then you spend the rest of the week wrecking the place. Protip #2 get some pledges to clean it for you.

As far as the sexism is concerned, they gotta do something to earn half our stuff in a divorce...

Some of the dirtiest apartmens I've ever been in have been owned by women. For some reason it seems like an awful lot of the ladies of my generation lack the domestic skills we commonly associate with females.

Maybe I just notice it more because I'm a neat freak, can cook, and a male.

The concept of animal rights is a new thing for Japan. There are next to no laws about animal care and no real government power to enforce what laws there are.

There are rescues and organizations but unless the owner agrees to surrender the animals there is nothing they can do besides offer advice.

There are nearly 40 dogs in that little garden. This house is a one minute walk from the police station. I've reported this guy to the police, the city, the prefecture and a number of organizations. They've all known about him for years. He refuses to give up the dogs and the government has no power to take the dogs from him. So, all they can do is send him a sternly worded letter every once in a while. I've been in this neighborhood for three years and nothing has changed.

You think that's bad, though? Ask me to show you some pictures of Japanese dog breeders. Actual licensed breeders with storefronts that people actually buy puppies from.

Well, as anyone who ever had a cleaning job can confirm, women's bathroom are always far more dirty than male bathrooms. I can remember from my student days that the all girl houses were also much dirtier than the male or mixed houses.

Women are naturally more organized than men thus making them cleaner. They are also better at making sammiches.

I work security for a small college. You should see some of the living conditions. The girls are just as bad as the boys. There was one residence hall that had to be de-bugged it was so infested with fleas.

There is one memorable dorm room...the girls who lived there did not keep the place filty, just messy. All of their clothes were on the floor so that we could hardly open the door. And for some weird reason, every damn bra the two of them owned were hanging all over the room...on the bed post, from the lamps...they even had one hanging from the smoke detector on the ceiling. Now that's just weird.

This is the absolute truth. A 7 month stint as a janitor showed me that women at their best are horrible f*cking pigs when it comes to using the bathroom. In the future, women's bathrooms should be designed as if the entire thing was a damned toilet, so the whole room can be flushed clean at the push of a button.

I've never been in a mens restroom. Do men have as much trouble flushing their waste as women seem to have? Every public bathroom I go to always has two or three toilets with presents left for the next users.

Thank you for trying to help. I'll pass on seeing the breeder pictures. I see more misery than I care to already. I live in the US, in Kansas. Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Nebraska are the states with the most egregiously evil puppy millers. The commercial breeders insist that they are tiny, family owned farms that should be protected from any regulation. They've successfully prevented even the tiniest increments of oversight and scrutiny, right down to lobbying against vanity license plates which create revenue for education and animal protection.

I have three rescued dogs of my own, and I am a pet foster licensed by the state. The need is so much greater than the money, always. With the recession, people are abandoning their animals at an accelerated rate, but even with a stronger economy, people were irresponsible. It makes me so sad.

Someone hung a towel from a sprinkler and broke it, before most students were there for the semester. Flooded parts of 2 floors. I believe he had to pay for all the damage himself. They were apartment style dorms, so they had a lot of drywall, and carpet.

Every once in awhile yes. I used to think some horribly obese person had to use half a roll of TP to wipe their giant ass and that clogged the toilet. Every once in awhile you get the jackass that drops a deuce in the urinal too.

Came here to agree than women are worse than men.

The office I work in...well, no one knows for sure who it is, but there is some woman who was clearly never potty trained.

Once I stepped into a stall, when I noticed a red spot on the ground. I looked at the underside of the toilet, and the whole bottom of the bowl was smeared with menstrual blood.

It doesn't help that the cleaning crews suck in our building. That toiled stayed like that for an entire week, despite the bathrooms getting cleaned every night.

Horrible story bro.

Doesn't surprise me. In middle/high school girls used to complain about the bathroom being littered with used tampons that they would just fling onto the walls/ceiling.

I remember my on res and off res days. I lived with probably 60 people in this one residence that just got dirtier and dirtier.

The showers got clogged within the first few weeks...and then were only unclogged every few months. So every time you had a shower, you were having a bath in the grime from the 59 other people, and their boyfriends/girlfriends who used it before you.

THEN we had 'cleaning ladies' who never cleaned. We had a few popcans we intentionally left outside out rooms to test how often the place actually got cleaned. They stayed there the entire year.

Then there were the family of skunks that got into the ventilation system. The chipmunk that made its home under the common room chair because the window was broken...

Best one was when I moved off res. One of my roomies liked to defrost meat on top of the fridge. The fridge looked like it was bleeding, there was blood dripping all the way down the side, and pooling on the floor and under it.

Not to mention, nobody ever DRIED their dishes, so the dish rack was always full of dishes, and the dish rack itself was growing mold.

My mother is a hoarder (thankfully, she's not a "filthy" hoarder - no animals or feces or infestations - just tons of worthless crap), and it's the reason I'm almost freakishly minimalist. I get really anxious and twitchy if I have lots of stuff around me.

It's really a battle though because I grew up really poor, and not having stuff around me reminds me of my deprived childhood, which also makes me extremely anxious.

Finding that balance is really difficult.

/not so cool story, bro

Most women of my generation don't seam to have any domestic skills, with one exception (my wife) i've been way cleaner (both sanitization and organization) than every woman I've dated, I've also been a better cook as well as the usual array of "manly" chores. what's up with that ladies, I am not gonna work 8 hours then come home and clean everything up.

2010-06-24 10:08:02 AM
Oh and I forgot to mention, why am I still exspected to pay for everything too? Yes I made more than every woman I ever dated but why do I have to pay for everything, fix everything, clean everything, it's almost like women expect to not have to do anything but look pretty, oh wait...
