That's right baby!

Our pitchers remembered how to pitch and we've finally got our hits w/ RISP above abysmal levels. Go White Sox!

2010-06-21 11:11:06 AM
And they only picked up one game on the Tigers. I will say this is going to be an interesting summer.

2010-06-21 12:08:30 PM
You've got the Braves coming in for 3, beginning tonight.
Enjoy your delusion for the rest of the afternoon.

2010-06-21 01:09:57 PM
I thought White Sox fans were "baseball smart".

Your team isn't going anywhere this year, so enjoy getting your hopes up! For the first time in a while, we'll get to laugh at your inflated expectations.

2010-06-21 01:17:02 PM
What about the Rangers who have won 8 straight?

2010-06-21 01:17:55 PM
I'm a huge Sox fan, but let's be careful here. Other than the Tigers, we've been beating up on some weak teams.

If we take two of three from Atlanta, I'll breathe a little easier.

The good news is, with the exception of against Strasburg and on Saturday with Pauly and Rios out, the team looks like they've found their bats. I think they're getting some offensive confidence back that will carry over to the tougher teams.

Braves > white sox

2010-06-21 01:20:15 PM
You're playing .500 ball, and the #1 team in your division would be the 5th best in the AL East.
But you know.. enjoy it while you can, I really don't have anything bad to say about the White Sox. Have fun out there, you kids. *gives your hair a tussle*

2010-06-21 01:20:34 PM
I will be very interested to see the outcome of this next series.

2010-06-21 01:23:36 PM
lulz, I made a book it done white sox headline finally

2010-06-21 01:24:43 PM
I'm just glad ESPN still slob-knobs on the AL East after the Braves took 2 out of 3 from the Rays yet...somehow...are still fourth in the Power Rankings.

2010-06-21 01:25:16 PM
I'll be impressed when the beat someone other than the Pirates and Nats.

/White Sox fan

2010-06-21 01:26:26 PM
White Sox' only chance is to catch the Twins and that will be hard owing to them being 7.5 back. Lets face it, the wild card is coming out of the AL East again like it has 10 times out of the past 15 years.

/ All three teams in the wild card/division leader race in the AL East have better records than any team in the NL.
// Hell, they have three best records in MLB.
/// Can't wait for the stretch run.

2010-06-21 01:28:40 PM
Crap. I dismissed them early in the season. They are at .500 now.

epyonyx: What about the Rangers who have won 8 straight?

Shh. These threads are a curse to the teams. The Rangers are on an 8 game run and have 7 more wins than the White Sox.

Let's not remind them that they're actually the Texas Rangers.

2010-06-21 01:33:20 PM
I'm a WhiteSox fan.

They suck.

They are the suckest group of sucks who ever sucked on the south side.

Once they get out of the minor league stint, its back to real teams and no offense.

Dr.Knockboots: You're playing .500 ball, and the #1 team in your division would be the 5th best in the AL East.

Twins are better than the Blue Jays even with everyone outside of Young, Duensing, and Pavano having OK to poor seasons. Once the infield looks less like Rochester's + Morneau and Blackburn is kicked out of the rotation, the AL Central lead will go back up.

2010-06-21 01:34:16 PM
And in an amazing and in no way related coincidence, they just finished playing two of the worst teams in baseball.

Small sample sizes; they mean nothing.

I don't know subby, the Rangers have won 11 of their last 12, with 8 of them on the road.

And the Rockies are still among the hottest teams in baseball

I refuse to believe. I fully expect this team to go back to sucking within a couple weeks. I hope to be proven wrong, but I'm expecting the worst.

They're going to get themselves just close enough into the race to keep them from trading AJ and Konerko, then fade into 3rd down the stretch.

I do find it quite funny that the Sox have more wins against the Pirates than the Cubs do, despite only playing them 1/3 as many times.

I haven't been following as much this year what with my real-life Personal Apocalypse going on, but that's one hilarious stat Guelph35. Shut up Cubs fans. We both suck.

Geez, guy. What are your expectations for your beloved Chubs? Go back to your part-time radio gig and beg them more money and air time so that you can raise your child properly.

Just giving you crap. I am impressed that you learned about my beloved Blackhawks though and am still jealous that for some reason you got photographed on the UC ice. Take care buddy!

As a White Sox fan, let me just say this:

They farking suck this year. They are a .500 team at best.

2010-06-21 02:30:21 PM
If the White Sox are the "hottest team" then there obviously needs to be a ladies lingerie baseball league. And not like that Lady GaGa/ A-Rod thing that New Yorkers go for either.

2010-06-21 02:35:31 PM
It's nice to see, as a Sox fan, but it's temporary. The lineup is still full of stiffs. The starting pitching situation is better, but there's no way the hitting is good enough to make this anything better than a .500 team.

As a Twins fan, I wholeheartedly support your analysis.

Saw them play at Nats Stadium. What a lackluster sport. I mean team. >_>

But seriously, 2-1, 1-0, 6-3. Meh.

2010-06-21 02:48:15 PM
Their pitching came around, finally, but they still have no offense. I am not concerned.

/Tigers fan.

2010-06-21 03:09:18 PM
They finally got their record to about what I expected them to be -- around a .500 team. Two guys can't carry the offense the entire year, even though Rios and Konerko really have been great. The main starters not named John Danks have finally joined the team two months into the season, which is nice.

It's amazing what 9 games against the AAA combo of the Cubs, Pirates and Nationals can do for your team though. Unfortunately for the Sox, the Twins and Tigers had a bunch of games against the National League as well, so winning 8 out of 9 has done pretty much nothing for them in the standings.

2010-06-21 03:22:11 PM
Three games against the Nats will do that.

Wrong color Sox, Subby. Red ones are winningest in baseball since April 18th. Haven't lost a series in a month and a half.

White Sox stink...just not nearly as much as my Cubbies. Chicago baseball has been awful to watch so far this season. At least Lou is finally playing Colvin a bit more and hopefully ARam can get it going. I feel bad for Ted Lilly (his last start against the Angels not withstanding).

When does Bears season start?

Wow. Two out of three! Let's rearrange all the baseball power rankings. Never mind that the Braves ran up the same record as the Rays against inferior competition, or that the Rays have a better run differential.

I guess it's just the drawback of having an MLB season that is 6 games long. Two games is just so decisive.

The Pirates just won two out of three. They're now a lock to be division champs, I guess.

If only there were some way to compare the Braves and the Rays other than their head-to-head record...

They have nearly identical records and the Braves just took 2 out of 3.

That would seem to imply that the Braves are better and/or playing better at this time than the Rays.

I'm impressed that the Rays have a better run differential. I am also impressed that the Braves have a better team batting average, on-base percentage, and OPS.

The pitching stats look like a near toss-up and Jair Jurrjens hasn't pitched in forever. The defensive stats are a near toss-up too.

I guess we could look at common opponents, though. But, the Twins split a series with the Royals and lost 2 out of 3 against the Marlins too.

chimp_ninja: The Pirates just won two out of three. They're now a lock to be division champs, I guess.

Do they have a record similar to the Cardinals and/or did they just play the Yankees, Rays, Braves, Mets, or some other top of the division team?

The_Great_Hambino: If only there were some way to compare the Braves and the Rays other than their head-to-head record...

I'd say common opponents. But, the Rays lost two out of three to the Marlins and split a series against the Royals. So, I'm at a loss as to what we could compare.

How team shave performed over the past month (May 22 - Today):

Rangers: 16-10, current 8 game streak
White Sox: 17-10, current 6 game streak
Braves: 17-10, current 5 game streak
Mets: 19-7, current 2 game losing streak (after 8 straight wins)
Yankees: 20-8, current 2 game streak
Red Sox: 21-7, current 6 game streak

Wrong Sox, folks.
