Ben isn't even attractive. He smokes like a million cigarettes a day, has a ugly smile, and has only survived this long because J-Lo's shirt tails are long. I bet they could've gotten someone MUCH better looking for less. Tom Cavanaugh anyone?

Am I the only one who finds the male beauty trend disturbing yet mildly amusing (because now the boys have to suffer like we do...)?
2003-05-28 05:04:03 PM
SO, does this mean that if I'm dating a guy who waxes his eyebrows, gets occasional manicures, and spends more time doing his hair than I do that I should question his hetero-ness?
2003-05-28 05:09:12 PM
He should really get back together with Matt. That guy took the high road after he won the Oscar, instead of doing crappy movies and hooking up with no-talent skanks.

Candypants :)

The last male I dated spent far more time and money on his appearance than I do. It showed, too. I never wear any make-up but he did (natural, of course). I take 5 minutes to fix my hair, he took 20. He waxed all over the place while I'd look down and go "oh yeah, mental note: shave".

I see nothing positive in the beauty industry realizing that they can capitalize on male insecurity as well but I do like the fact that the old myth of women not being visually stimulated is dying down.

What is this stigma against men who actually give a crap about their appearance? It is not unusual for a woman to spend one hour to get ready in the morning (I know, not YOU...) but if a man spends more than twenty minutes, he's gay or vain. Does this mean that the majority of women are vain? No; they take care of themselves in order to increase their confidence level through diminishing flaws and enhancing positive feaures. They do it to feel better about themselves. Yes, some take it to an extreme, but still!

Summary of Above Rant: Why can't boys do it too?

/should be a marketing person for L'Oreal

I'm the same way, Cola, except that I do wear makeup more often than not, but not enough to really tell. I guess my point was just that guys who make fun of other men for taking care in the way the look seem a little odd to me. I mean hey, it beats dating a guy with crazy pubes and a uni-brow.

Crazy Pubes... I saw them at the Dark Horse last night
2003-05-28 07:50:13 PM
LOL....I almost forgot to add.....

I love you Ben, you almost make forget about tacooooooooooos!

I love you so much Ben... you almost make me forget about TACOS!

Ben Affleck movies that sucked: Pearl Harbor, DAREDEVIL, Gigli-Have not seen it yet, but I bet my favorite vibrator it will suck huge ass, Bounce, Forces of Nature, Phantoms, Reindeer Games...etc.
Ben Affleck movies that were okay: Good Will Hunting (only because he was Damon's bioth, err, side lackee), Mallrats (again, a minor part), Sum of All Fears, Changing Lanes (offset by Samuel Jackson)
Ben Affleck movies that rocked: Armageddon (Majorly offset by Bruce Willis) and all the other Kevin Smith movies he was in (Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent BoB Strike Back..)

note to Ben: all the great movices you were in are far and few between. Take a freakin sabbatical from J-load, go to some actor's workshop(s) and get some freakin talent. And p.s., no hair color on your toupee or bronzing powder on your face is gonna bling-bling your career.

Benn Affleck.. the bald guy, right?

2003-05-28 11:40:08 PM
CrazyRed, did you just say Armageddon rocked, or are my eyes deceiving me? I sure hope they are...

I can see caring for your looks - up to a point. When my brother and I get together these days we have a good laugh. My dad was the stereotypical dishevelled, absent-minded science professor. He had hair all over the place, wrinkled clothing - even had sideburns back when everyone thought they were gay. As teenagers we used to be kinda embarrassed by him.

Now we find out that he was a TOTAL babe magnet. You run into ex students of his and some of the stories blow you away. Very, very different person from what we'd imagined growing up! And the only things going for him (apart from a stellar intellect) were charisma, confidence and a measure of humility, things that gotta count for a lot more than just some guy who waxes his pubes, plucks his friggin eyebrows and boasts about how much he benches.

If all you got going for you in the mating game is your looks, well, that gets old real fast.

Candypants: "I mean hey, it beats dating a guy with crazy pubes and a uni-brow."

I just read this after typing that comment. Speechless. ;-)

The only thing I liked about it was Bruce Willis, is all I am saying... Ben is still a pansy-ass actor.

Dirk: You may or may not come back into this thread, BUT, as well as being round, I am well-rounded. I READ BOOKS, magazines, etc., watch movies and, OHMIGOD, watch TV!!

Only $1.5 million?

That's not even enough to cover J'lo's toilet seat costs.

Bean Affleck has never had a really good movie. He has had his teeth caped and other things done to him to make him the "movie Star" He is today. Isn't Jennifer Lopez older than him? What a difference to go from Gwynnie to Jennie! One is really white and the other a lating girl trying to be black at times. Weirdos!
