So I steal a birth certificate, get a government issued id, wait for them to invalidate the stolen birth certificate then send in a copy of my ID to get a new one?

STUPID!

Wow, if you're a PR in AZ you're doubly screwed.

Remind me to avoid Arizona for the time being.

This is going to bite me in the ass if I ever run for president.

So, now Pres. Obama can finally get an official birth certifcate that proves American citizenship. That ought to end all that Birther craziness.

FTFA Puerto Rico will begin issuing new birth certificates on July 1, which will incorporate technology to limit forgery.

Good luck with that.

So... do we now have to start mixing with the PRs?

So any state/commonwealth can declare previously legal documents null and void and demand $5 from everyone born there for a new and improved legal copy?

I think we've found step 2.

It says "Limit" not "Prevent". I believe the "limit" will be one forgery per customer.

Not a bad racket at $5 a pop.

Crap like this combined with the new laws in many states requiring a birth certificate in order to renew your driver's license means it is becoming increasingly difficult for legitimate citizens to jump through all the hoops. I just got my birth certificate in the mail today from Connecticut, it's been a 3 month ordeal trying to get it before my license expires next month. My original was destroyed in a fire over 30 years ago and this is the first time I've actually needed to show it for anything.

I'll settle for TFark

Not that $5 is a lot of money but... shouldn't FL be eating the cost since it's the state's mandate and no fault of the people born in PR?

2010-06-14 04:43:42 PM
A $5 tax on being born Puerto Rican.

2010-06-14 04:45:05 PM
Umm... there's a flaw here, i just can't put my finger on it.
Doesn't invalidating birth certificates also invalidate all legal government documents that were created BASED on that document?
So, if i stole a certificate to fraudulently create legal documents... i can haz valid birth certificate if i mail in copies of the fraudulent documents before the REAL person submits theirs?
i was wrong. There are no flaws to this plan.

When are Hawaii going to realise they have a problem with forgery and invalidate all theres? It'll be a real hoot having the negroid-in-chief having to fake (sorry, find) evidence of his birth in order to prove himself eligible for a birth certificate.

Apologies to OscarJ, i did not carefully read through the comments before posting mine.
As of July 1st, Puerto Ricans will not exist, right?

Heh, wait'll i tell my brother in law.

FTA: Florida residents who were born in Puerto Rico must obtain new birth certificates because a new law invalidated all Puerto Rican birth certificates issued prior to July 1, 2010.

Enough is enough. Can we please get a "Florida" tag added to Fark? Make it look like a Florida license plate or something.

Um - Fortunato is the Governor of PR, not FL.

This doesn't just happen for floridians, this is just a Palm Beach, FL newspaper that's reporting it...this is for any boriqua anywhere in the US that's not PR. Buddy of mine that lives in Guam got notification of this a little while ago.

FTA a new law invalidated all Puerto Rican birth certificates issued prior to July 1, 2010

So, anybody born in the next 2 weeks won't get a birth certificate? Or will they be issued one but have to pay $5 for a new one to be issued in 2 weeks?
Interesting.

Thats because they are all up here now. Judging by the parade yesterday, that island just has to be empty by now.

Most Nuyoricans are now 2nd+ generation so non-issue. More Puerto Ricans are born in NY than in PR LOL.

You have to show your birth certificate to renew your license?

I just renewed my license last week. The only thing Ohio required me to do was answer the question "Are you a US citizen?". I didn't have to show my birth certificate or passport.

They're supposed to send a photocopy of a valid passport or driver's license and $5 to Puerto Rico?

That is the part that sounds like a scam.

/waves to the other Puerto Farkers here...
// or should it be "Farker-Ricans"?

The root cause of all this mess is that it's often required to hand over a copy of your birth certificate in Puerto Rico for all sorts of stuff like getting a driver's license, enrolling in school, etc. Because of this, it's common for people to request and receive a dozen or so copies of their birth certificate in their lifetime. It also doesn't hurt when the illegals speak the same language as Puerto Ricans.

/just sayin'
