heh, hillbilly heroin.

I think that we have sufficient testing in the general public to deem a recall on this stuff.

I had my tonsils out last year (for the love of god, if you don't absolutely HAVE to do it, DON'T! That was the worst experience of my entire life).

Anyway, they obviously perscribed me a painkiller. I took those things 2 pills every 4 hours (it was supposed to be 1 to 2 pills, every 4-6 hours) . I overslept my scheduled pill once, and thought I was going to die. After that, like clockwork, I never missed. I cannot adequately describe the pain of a tonsilectomy in words. I know some of you know what I'm talking about.

I had never heard of OxyContin, but I told someone that was what I was taking, and their eyes bulged out of their head. If it is so powerful, and as much pain as I had, I can't imagine what that whole deal would have been like with a lesser painkiller. Funny thing was, I had no side effects, or strange feelings or anything. After about 2 weeks, I didn't need them any more and just stopped taking them. Go figure.

Moral of the story. Don't get your tonsils out... EVER. But if you do, go with the OxyContin!

I don't have a lawn to cut.

Can I have some?

I stared at the florist-lady and spent about 20 minutes deciding which machine to spend my quarter in at the grocery store after taking to Ambien once, but that's about it.

Wild mood swings, anxiety, depression, insomnia, forgetfulness, loss of sexual appetite...

Aren't these also symptoms of knowing you are about to die from cancer?

2003-05-27 11:56:01 AM
I just take 3 or 4 Narco 10/325s...thank..asdh.adfnla...ddsss

That's nothing.

Last night I sparked up a cannon and ate 3 bags of chips and 4 Snickers. Then I went to Dairy Queen.

Oh, and I watched Below ..... amazing movie!

Well won't your mood swings, anxiety, depression, ect., turn off your partner anyways ? Thank God for your loss of sexual appetite.

That shiat kills people like mad. Just another mainstream drug to stay miles away from. I'll stick with my weed and beer, thank you very much.

Shooter, do you get sore throats less frequently now that you don't have tonsils?

2003-05-27 12:04:58 PM
i'm always amazed by the chemisrty knowledge of these junkies. who the hell figured out you could get rid of the time release chemical by burning or crushing the pill?!?!? these 'chemists' should be working on a cure for cancer!!! the coprprate drug pushers like Glaxo and Roche aren't going to do it.

By themselves there isn't much room for abuse. But when you open them and snort/eat them you bypass the time release mechanism, which makes it some pretty strong shiat. About as powerful than heroin even. That's why they get abused so much--plus you don't have to inject them so that takes away from any fear a person might have in using powerful opiates.

That must of hurt - did they need a painkiller?

2003-05-27 12:07:45 PM
I've only taken Oxy nasally, and then purely for recreation. I've got nothing bad to say about the stuff.

2003-05-27 12:08:53 PM
"Who the hell figured out you could get rid of the time release chemical by burning or crushing the pill?!?!?"

It wasn't that hard to figure out. Every kid at the party told me to chomp on my X once or twice to kick it in faster the first time i tried it...

Doesn't marijuana help cancer patients with less dangerous side effects?

2003-05-27 12:09:06 PM
This shiat's being blown way the fark out of proportion. I take OC here and there and have never experienced any major side effects. There's alot of stuff out there that will kill you far more effeciently than OC. Oh but I guess we better just ban it and stick anyone who uses it in jail. That will fix things for sure.

2003-05-27 12:10:26 PM
i want some. gimme some.

"scarecrow scarecrow whats that ya poppin'?

A powerful pill they call OxyContin..."

See?! you know its bad when theres a rap about it!

2003-05-27 12:11:27 PM
I had an MD prescribe OxyContin in 1996 after I got pinned between two cars (broken and sprained knees - a drunk hit me). Sure, OxyContin works. Heroin works too.

I kicked it. How? I dealt with the withdrawl.

Wussies.

I can name about 10 people in my community that has died from this drug in the last year. Addicts are robbing unsuspecting victims in restaurant bathrooms. My car was broken into last week. It has really destroyed this town.

FLA Chickie

Marijuana helps cancer patients fight the nausea caused by the cancer-fighting drugs. Getting nourishment is one of the biggest problems cancer patients face.

2003-05-27 12:12:32 PM
Imagine if all the junkies could sue.

I'm also guessing that all of these lawsuites will be dismissed. It's most likely that these asshats have abused their medication by chewing the pills, taking them when they aren't needed, or something like that. Do opiates even cause hallucinations?

2003-05-27 12:12:41 PM
Marijuana will get you pregnant, though.

2003-05-27 12:13:04 PM
This just in: crushing + snorting/injecting anything linked to death of User. . . More on this as it comes in...

FLA Chickie: Cannabis has been proven to help Cancer patients with certain aspects of the treatment (e.g. nauseau from Chemo), but I can't see how it would be a long-term solution to pain management. I'm an avid smoker and love the pain-management aspects of it, but if I have sustained pain like the back pain/recovering from surgery mentioned previously, I need some RX to make it better...

Nothing says painkiller like "Every 4 Hours"

2003-05-27 12:14:34 PM
Iid still rather snort Riddlin.

DownButNotOUT

Actually, I didn't have many sore throats to begin with. My tonsils were really swollen and had been for years. I was sleeping like hell due to snoring and apnea. I will say, that I sleep 100 times better now that they're gone. So, I guess it was worth it... sorta.

Mopofdeath

Actually, due to my throat resembling raw hamburger and my inability to swallow anything more than juice, I had to open up the capsules and dump the contents onto a spoon and wash it down with a little apple juice (which doesn't taste good). So, I was pretty much taking it straight up.

2003-05-27 12:17:07 PM
I have found out after the fact that some of my 20 year old son's friends have taken this stuff - a lot. Bad news. Definitely something the FDA needs to take a look at and take out of circulation as much as possible, as soon as possible.

I took it last year because of some ailments - but couldn't take too much - made me too itchy

but it did produce some mild hallucinations - strange

2003-05-27 12:21:57 PM

This morning I think I will down a couple of OxyContin -

Then I am going to suck down a fistful of Accutane
Then I am going to pop aq half-bottle of ripped fuel (the Leaded vrsion with Ephedrine)
Then I am going to wash it all down with a case of red bull.
Then for good measure I am going to eat 5 bags of Pop Rocks and six-pack of Coke.

Damned if I won't have myself a damn good lawsuit by the end of the day.

Shooter,
at least they gave you pain killers. My mother grew up in France after WWII at a time the whole country was poor. She had her tonsils taken out at 9 years old without pain killers or anesthesia. They her during the procedure. She says she passed out from the pain. That's rough.

Ketchumifyoucan

I know when I had to refill my perscription, my wife called the doctor. With the other Rx's I've had, they just call the pharmacy to refil it. But my wife had to actually go to the doctors office, pick up the special hard-copy perscription, and had 30 minutes to get to the pharmacy or it would expire. That sounds like pretty tight controls, at least where I live.

2003-05-27 12:26:23 PM
A synthetic form of morphine, used as a powerful painkiller and narcotic, could be addictive?! That's no fair! Now that I'm addicted, I'm gonna sue!

/gotta go clip the lawn

Shooter:
About 30 years ago I had my tonsils removed because my brother was sick. The Hospital offered a special deal if we did 2. So my penny-wise parents let them rip me up.

Minoridiot She had her tonsils taken out at 9 years old without pain killers or anesthesia

Ohhhhh... man, that gives me the shakes just thinking about it. I can't even imagine how bad that would be... The only saving grace is that kids have a MUCH easier time than adults. My doctor told me about a 5 year old kid he operated on, who was up and back to normal in about 4 days.

Me = 2 weeks of sheer hell.

2003-05-27 12:27:27 PM
I had some of that stuff once. Just really weak pills. 20 mg of that stuff kept me higher than a kite for hours. It is the best you will ever feel in your life. Even if you have done the olsen twins, this is better.

Don't get addicted to it though! Withdrawl can be nasty if you do get hooked.

Ahhh, I see. Then again you weren't taking it for recreational purposes.

Meh, this is just the drug flavour of the year at any rate. Even if they ban oxy's there will be another drug invented or an old one to take it's place that everyone will abuse. And the media will focus on just that and blow it out of proportions as they are now. Hurray.

Isn't that grounds for "parent divorce" nowadays? If it isn't, it should be!

Oh, one other tidbit I forgot... as I was in the doctor's office talking about the surgery, his nurse comes in and says, "I had my tonsils out. It was 10 times worse than when I gave birth to my twins."

You can imagine how happy I was to get THAT little nugget of info... *sigh*
