Agree with this list. Re "Toddlers and Tiaras" the mothers who put their babies in these arseholic "beauty pageants" should be forced to watch footage of all the pervs who are fapping to it. Hopefully they would rethink - naw, they wouldn't.

I think TLC should run a show featuring would-be parents who think that "Toddlers and Tiaras" is a goal for their future progeny be violently spayed and neutered.

TLC should just rename itself "the dysfunction channel."

But it's my favorite show to fap to! Though it might heighten the sensation to have one of those MILF's watch me fap.

1) 19 Kids and Counting
2) Toddlers & Tiaras:
3) I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant
4) Little People, Big World/The Little Couple
5) Jon & Kate Plus Eight

Of these, I find Toddlers and Tiaras by far the most disturbing. I guess because it's all about the exploitation of little kids. I mean, all I know about T&T is what I see on The Soup, and it creeps me out.

19 kids and counting is scary because it points up that the people you LEAST want to populate this world are the ones making tons of babies.

I weep for humanity.

I'm at a loss regarding what we are supposed to be "learning" by watching The Learning Channel".

Somewhere along the line, their program directors lost the plot.

If TLC is smart they locked all the Gosselin kids AND the T&T kids into long-term contracts so the network can document the inevitable therapy sessions, institutionalization, substance abuse, whiskey-fueled home invasions, bullet-riddled trailer homes, pole dancing accidents and public defecations that are sure to come.

2010-06-10 10:50:44 AM
TVGasm does amazing recaps of Toddlers & Tiaras. I don't watch the show, but I do read the recaps. Holy snark.

I misread the headline for "19 Kids and Counting: FTW" as "19 Kids and Counting: FML." Much more appropriate.

Now frankly, im not gonna sit here and tell people what to do with their children. But no way in farking hell, would i ever let my daughter be in a beauty pagent. Lifes enough of a beauty pagent already. We dont have to make it official. Plus I for one would like my daughter to focus, on well, just about anything else besides this nonsense. I want to say it makes me sick, but at the very least, it disturbs me deeply.

They probably got on the show by renting their girls to the producers.

I was in middle school with a former pageant brat. She was still riding high off the glory of her toddler days, and it was annoying as fark. Apparently she ended up in tears once because someone else's Halloween costume was prettier than hers. Aside from the (emotional) pageant scars, she was a nice enough kid, but being told how pretty and perfect she was through her childhood really messed her up.

Shortly after high school she got knocked up, had a shotgun wedding, birthed a total of 3 kids*, gave them all really stupid names and got super fat (or so I've been told).

*so far

I really wish they would go back to science and learning shows. I guess maybe they can't or don't want to compete with Discovery. Which is too bad because the Connections series with James Burke kicked all kinds of ass.

I think it's about time TLC changed their name. There is nothing but stupid renovation, bridal or baby shows.

I used to watch that channel all the time because they had really interesting stuff on there. I guess the majority of people didn't like educational programming so TLC went all dumb fark reality on us.

/Fark you average American!

I tried to watch an episode of Toddlers & Tiaras and I just felt sick to my stomach. Those poor kids.

Years ago, there was a show called "Stage Moms" (I forget which channel). At least THAT show focused on the asshattery & douchbagginess of the mothers and not on the poor kids. It also included show-dog owners, so even some of the creepiness was mitigated.

After I sent out a funny email to close family and friends about potty training my toddler, I felt a bit guilty, like I had just violated her privacy. Not that she cared a 2, but I was picturing her 16, at Christmas dinner, when Grandma fondly recalls the story.

I can not imagine, as a parent, inviting the whole world into my home to dissect my childrens' every tantrum, toilet accident, irrational fear. Or having to grow up knowing that the whole world has seen you in your underwear. Privacy in the home should be a given for a child.

Kate's children will hate her someday.

Thanks, reality television. I'd hate actually going to the Learning channel to learn, or the History channel to see history, or the SciFi channel to see sci fi. Dodged a bullet there.

Noobian Noob: hoarders is by far one of the most scariest things on tv

Hoarders is on A&E and I agree, it's one of the scarier things out there. The scariest, though, is TLC's Hoarders rip-off, "Buried Alive". THAT one deals more w/the disease than just the clean-up. It's much more disturbing to actually see a hoarder's mental processes. It's just amazing to watch them try to figure out why the average person would WANT to throw away 3-yo cream cheese or, when presented w/a dessicated cat carcass that was buried under 5 feet of trash, blame the cat for getting trapped there.

I minored in psychology and STILL can't wrap my head around hoarders' mentality.

i do, however, watch that fat black family sometimes. the son is totally gay.

I blame this on "A Wedding Story," the TLC shiat show from which all other TLC shiat shows were borne, like the head vampire.
