I deal with the Super Bowl every year waiting for the World Cup. It's nice going from watching a bunch of guys wrestling with each other to a game where actual skill is involved!

I love football, NFL or college and go to many games, but even I recognize the hype of the World Cup. Until the rest of the world catches up to how awesome Football is and we do have a true world championship, then nothing will be bigger than the World Cup. It only happens every 4 years, and over 200 countries try to quality, top 32 make it, and the whole world watches. It's where countries like Algeria can compete and surpass the most wealthiest of nations like Russia, China who couldn't make the cut. It's better than the olympics, because it's based on one sport and every game is fun to watch. This is the best sporting event in the World. Superbowl is a close second, and that is followed by Olympic Female Beach Volleyball!

All sports have their share of players that love to biatch to the ref. The big difference between soccer and other sports is the only way to stop play for the soccer player is to act injured wheras the play is usually already stopped in the other sports.

Good refs can and do tell the grassdivers to get off their asses and get back in the game.

Not FIFA refs. Not from what I've seen. IF you took the players acting as an indication of the damage they suffer, there'd be spleens all over the field. You wouldn't be able to dribble the ball for the mounds and mounds of disembodied spleens. Then they'd have to call it spleenball.

See the thing is, as I see it, soccer is great when you are a kid. It's quite popular for school children...you've heard of hot soccer moms, right? If not google it...I can't I'm at work.

The thing is, once we grow up, we get into sports with more expensive equipment, and sophistication. I guess soccer is seen as a poor mans sport in N.A.

That, and Montreal Canadien fans have me hate that stupid ole ole ole chant.
