Again with the Chargers hype? They're failure in powder blue.

Norv Turner is their coach.
C'mon.

This guy is clearly very, very high

I will tolerate a lot of bullshiat but I will not tolerate the Saints being ranked below the f*cking Falcons. Are you f*cking kidding me? This bullshiat list makes Peter King look insightful.

The Bengals? Haha. Right.

The Cowboys are farking 3rd? That's horseshiat. As long as Romo the Giant Douchebag is their starting QB and fat fark Wade Phillips is their coach, they'll never get deeper into the playoffs than the second round.

As a Skins fan, I might be a little biased, but seriously, 3rd? GTFO.

I would say 26th is a little low for my Skins too, they're good for at least 24th.

Let's see... my Rams NOT ranked at the bottom?

This is an outrage!

HEY! We're one guy who can kick against the Jets in a rainstorm away!

But yeah, that list is stupid. The Broncos, and maybe even the Raiders & Chiefs will be stronger this year so the AFC West may be a bit tougher.

Ooo, I've got a story. So a friend of mine is in this bar in Grayton Beach, FL 2 years ago and she sees Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson show up. So the whole night Jessica is sitting at the bar by herself and he's shiatfaced and badgering the DJ to let him DJ and getting pissy when then DJ won't let him. "Don't you know how I am" and all that.

/but that's all I got

There's got to be at least a few college or CFL teams that you could rank above them.

The Cowboys also look a little high and while I'm probably the opposite of a Cowboy fan (despite being friends with Dwayne "The Sphinx" Thomas), Romo doesn't seem like a bad fellow. Of course I don't think Phillip Rivers is that bad of a fellow and he sends people into conniptions for some reason.

No kidding. The Cowboys are way too high for the losses they've sustained in the offseason. Still lots of worry at Safety and one of the Tackle positions. Still don't have a reliable kicker.

That's just my take on my team, and why the writer is on crack.

I used to go pretty frequently, admittedly not since Romo has been QB. I asked b/c there are a lot of people who think he's a douche and the only people I've ever heard defend his honor are Texans. Maybe it's just because I'm in Philly where everyone thinks he's a douche, but I've heard that opinion of him more than any other.

Philly, that explains it.

Most people here on Fark loathe the Cowboys, but rarely do I hear comments about Romo being a bad person.

Because obviously the QB currently ranked third All-Time, in terms of NFL QB rating is somehow lacking in football ability?

I do not know why so many fans try to relate TEAM success, in terms of playoff wins etc., to the individual play of the QB.

With that said, Tony's team has won 70% farking percent of the games in which he has been the starting QB, so whether you go by his career QB rating of 95.6, or the winning percentage of his team with him at the helm, Tony Romo is one hell of a good Quarterback.

I can certainly make a lot better case for the Boys deserving to be ranked 3rd than I could for the chargers deserving to be ranked 1st. I really don't get that one at all.

FWIW, even as a Dallas Cowboys homer, I would probably rank them more like 5th in the "power rankings" right now.

I love how the Donkos once again proved my theory that the Donkos Must Have a Tall White Guy At An Offensive Skill Position but shook it up by taking Tebow.

Denver typically has a white dude at WR or TE (ed mccaffrey, tony scheffler, that cat named "mustard") but this year they went a bit of a different route. and i wouldn't be surprised to see TEbow play on the end. not as a blocker but as a receiver / wildcat type.

pretty sure it is an NFL bylaw that the Donkos must have a white guy at a receiver position.

No, Ken Griffey Jr is a douchebag too. Just because Seattle thinks the sun shines out his ass doesn't make it true. It's an interesting phenomenon - the dude forced a trade to exactly one team because he couldn't stand the farking place. Then he comes back when they're the only team that will have him, shows up late and fat to spring training, hits .180 when he's not sleeping in the clubhouse DURING games (it's not douchebag arrogance, it's an idiosyncrasy), leaves town to quit without acknowledging his teammates or the fans, and uses his retirement statement to complain about his lack of playing time. Douche. Bag.

I'm a transplanted Pirates fan so I have my own problems and could give a shiat what he does, but living in Seattle I just find it to be an interesting phenomenon how worshipped he is here when he domonstrated on multiple occasions that he can't stand the place. It's like there's this collective amnesia. They remember his 18 year old ear to ear grin. They don't remember the bi-weekly blackball of the press, or forcing his way out of town, or crying that the RF fence was too long, or the sports radio feud, or his ESPN boycott for not showing enough of his highlights. He was a prima donna the entire time, but he was their prima donna I suppose. Not unlike Bonds in SF.

No one has a good grip on the NFL rankings 8 weeks into the season, so rankings 3 months before the season starts are going to be silly.

That aside, the heck does this sentence mean? "Jets -- Something about all their high-profile moves seems like there's a trap door ready to sink the ship"?

Is he trying to say that there is a trap door installed on a ship that when triggered would sink it? Or is he saying the ship is sailing along and ends up on top of the trap door, which for some reason is in the water, that gets triggered and sinks the ship?

You mean the one from a friend of a random internet person? Oh yeah, well if it happened to his friend, it must be true!

Why is it so hard to believe that a QB who has been treated like a God his whole life may be arrogant and pushy? I even recall an incident at a party where I saw Saint Breesus act like a dick, and my sister has a killer Jim Harbaugh story from 15 years ago.

Then again, the few times I partied with Mike Alstott was super cool. He was known as the nicest guy at Purdue.

Ummm, you do realize that Tony went to a small school and was an undrafted free agent when picked up by the 'Boys who spent 3.5 seasons as a back-up to guys like Vinny and Drew Bledslow, right?

Obscure Login: No one has a good grip on the NFL rankings 8 weeks into the season, so rankings 3 months before the season starts are going to be silly.

No shiat - I think half the top 10 teams of week 8 last year missed the playoffs. That said I am happy to see the steelers down near 20. I'd rather be surprised on the upside. And just so there's no misunderstandings later on, I will be rooting hard for my team no matter what our douchebag qb does. Thus far I am 1% optimistic as he at least seems to be smart enough to be laying extremely low the last couple of months. I'm sure there's 1000 people watching him and will report on it if he so much as double parks.

Which brings me to my next point....don't smoke crack.

You mean the team with the num. 4 overall Defense that is returning almost all its starters, a offensive line thats actually played a season now and more offensive weapons? the ones that beat every team in the AFC North twice last season? Sure, why not?

Glad to see my Ravens getting some love in these rankings, even if they do mean squat at this point in the offseason. If they stay healthy, they should dominate the AFC North this year. plus with Rapey Ben being out for 4 games, the Edgar Allans will have a great chance to dominate the division.

as for Boldin....i hated to see him go but it was time. he clearly didn't want to be here, he had market value.....i'm gonna hate seeing him in purple and black but i wonder how much he has left in the tank. he plays so hard he costs himself 2-4 games a season. hated to see the cat go but it is what it is, as they say.

I hear that. That's why I've managed to chain my fortunes to college baseball and hockey during the offseason. My college team is eliminated after a gutsy performance in the SEC tournament, and my hockey team never left the ground--hasn't since like 2006.

Yeah, and I'm sure there were teams pre-ranked about the Cardinals last year, despite the Cards outlasting them in the playoffs. So what? Teams change year to year. Some get better, some get worse. High-level repeat performances are uncommon.

The Bengals are going to fall apart this year. All you need is one corner and their passing game falls apart.

The Chargers beat up on an inferior division and get exposed in the playoffs.

What passing game? They were in the bottom third in yards, near the bottom in attempts, and in the bottom half or worse in every other stat. Without a defense outperforming its talent, they're a 6-10 team.

I want to be cautiously optimistic about the 9ers. We are returning a lot of the team, have been training well, had a great draft and the coaching staff is improving. We are going to be consistent in the talent we put on the field which will hopefully help with team work. We do have one home game in London, but its against the Broncos so maybe that will be OK. I really really want to see them in the playoffs again so I'm pretty excited, but trying to temper it as they will probably lose in the WC round.
