The problem is that FIFA has a sponsorship deal with Trojans. These guys are sponsored by Durex. And to make it worse, I think some of the athletes are sponsored by Ramses. companies pay absurd amounts of money to be key sponsors at the world cup. Its not fair to them to let other vendors in the mix to distribute product for free - even if it has some humanitarian benefit.

The latest issue of business week just said that SA is getting $13bn in monetary benefit from the world cup. use that to buy condoms.

In FIFA's defense, condoms don't really help if both parties already have AIDS.

There are some acronyms that even Americans don't capitalize (radar, sonar, scuba, laser). I guess that with the passage of time, the acronym becomes a word in its own right.
