The page has a modification date of "08/31/2002 04:42:53 PM", not 1998. Not that it makes a difference. Unless we suspect him of being responsible, it should be chalked up to bad coincidence. If it happened after the bomb, maybe it'd be news then.

I don't think the subject here is the merit of Thomas' position, is it? Do you think his position is that he really advocates blowing up the Yale Law School? The issue is his merit as a person. He's got a bit of a history of making "jokes" that aren't that funny. Ask Anita Hill. He's an asshole who can't help but say and do incredibly offensive and stupid things, and this is another (minor) example.

If a conservative displays such a sign, it is a harmless joke.
