CooperDaKat: predle: John Buck 41: Happy Caturday!

Hey, John Buck 41, if you're out there, it's after midnight where you live, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

/I thought this was appropriate since you are sooo much older than I am

Happy Birfday John Buck 41

LoL Thanks for the card, and also to all of the other Caturday Farkers for the birthday wishes. Raining like the dickens here; not sure what the day's plans are. A BBQ isn't gonna happen, that's for sure!

micromedic: Fern Crest, Oh, dear... I am genuinely sorry.. what a dificult thing to go through! It's the "not knowing" that is the worst.

Me,too, Ferncrest; I'm so sorry you have to go through this. My Harley disappeared on me in 2004, and although I did get a call from someone who thought he had been the deceased kitty in her yard, I never knew for sure. If he HAS gone to the Summerlands, he'll be romping and chasing lizards with all the other dearly departed furry friends.

Goodnight little Kosmo Kitty. You were a great cat. Your girlfriend Ivy Girl will miss you dearly.

so sorry to hear about Kosmo Kitty :(

Thanks for everyone posting pics of some cute aminals to take away the pain. I have found lolcatz mixed with beer makes healing fast.

domari: Yzziefrog: Good morning Caturday!

First of all, get him neutered ASAP. That will keep his urge to go out roaming to a minimum. Also since he's a part of a feral colony, make sure he's healthy and free of contagious diseases before introducing him to your cat.

Other than that, keep feeding him and giving him lots of attention while he's inside, make being inside fun. Might have to keep him in one room for a short time when you first bring him in just to get him used to being inside.

I came here to say this.

So instead, here's some cats:

This is Tony. He was about 1yo in this picture and not dealing well with how fast he was growing.

About a year ago, he started losing some weight. About 3 months ago, he started losing it fast. He had been about 15#. On Thursday, he was 6.5#. Vet is speculating PKD, since his father was huge and mostly unknown; mom is very small. *shrug* who knows.

He was 8 years old and passed away in my arms on Thursday.

Tony is survived by his mom, Whiskey and his sister, Cammi. He and Cammi have never been separated in their lives, so I am concerned about her now. She spends her day largely searching the house for Tony now. She is pretty sure that he is behind the washing machine and checks there about every hour or so.

I have a quick question. I am going to Michigan for 4 days to see my grandbabies. :) The lady who was going to keep an eye on our cat for us, had an emergency and cancelled. I can not find anyone to check on him. Is it ok to leave him for 4 days if I have fresh litter, a big bowl of water and a full dry food feeder? Maybe call and leave a message on the answering machine so he can at least hear our voices? I'm worried. We never have ever left him totally alone for that long before. Ok so this turned into a bug question, but any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

and now a cat...

Yzziefrog: How can we convince him that inside our house is much better than roaming the streets?

I say go with what you've got--you can provide regular vet attention and a safe source of food and water. Two out of three isn't bad.

Sometimes one can "convert" a feral, but I sense that it won't work for yours. You guys know McKenzie, who I got from the vet as the "featured stray" when he was a teenager. Loving cat, but in forced confinement, he will resort to "chemical warfare," if you know what I mean. Yes, he exposed to more dangers, and I expect his life will not be as long as his more domestic sisters. But in my opinion, a cat's gotta live like a cat's gotta live.

Update on Olive! Today is her half birthday, and she seems to be doing well. I just woke up after a very long night of distracting her from licking her stitches, so I have yet to read previous posts.

This morning, happy half birthday!

Caption away at pictures if you'd like, I'm sure it would cheer me up this morning!

My biggest obstacle is keeping her from running and jumping. She's so high energy, I have to follow her like a shadow. My bed is very high, but it seems she still wants to sleep up there rather than on the makeshift bed on the floor with me.

2nd obstacle - Yesterday's News litter. She didn't go to the bathroom at all yesterday until about 3am this morning. I can imagine the pellets are painful on her toes, but she didn't have any accidents. I cannot wait to get rid of this stuff when her toes heal.

Other than that, she is in very good spirits. Very playful, eating and drinking well, and sleeping quite a bit.

This is Samantha. She and her sister Tabitha were living under my neighbor's truck before they found their forever cushy home with us. I actually spoke to my neighbor to inform them that their cats were living in our home with us (they had adopted us). My neighbor responded that the kittens had gotten too large so they were put out to live permanently. This is August when temps regularly reach 110 in Tucson. This neighbor still had their mom (unfixed of course). I am kitteh abductor. Is there prison time for this?

Samantha can has her caption plz?

I have heard that the law does not recognize the ability of a cat to be owned by anyone. So I would say that if you can lure momma cat inside, get her fixed, too!

Any law professionals out there, who can confirm this?

hello caturdayians. Sorry to hear that some of our two legged friends are not feeling well. Condolences to the bridge transitions, (and soon to be, damn, something in my eye.)

I posted last week that Binx had alarmed me by total non-participation in the morning routine on caturday, precipitating an emergency trip to the vet. A trip that revealed her blood glucose was normal. Another follow-up trip on wednesday confirmed the same, her glucose is still normal. Her diabetes went into remission. She will stay on her diet for the rest of her life, and I'm fine with that. My mom was at first disappointed that we couldn't just go back to the way things were before. As in her own life, she doesn't quite grok the idea that just because a medical condition or procedure has been survived, that resumption of the lifestyle choices that caused that condition in the first place can commence. Although yesterday, she conceded that the diet lifestyle change was for the better. Maybe, just maybe, she'll think about implementing the same thing in her own life.

I never did read all of last week's, first time in a long while. Actually was busy last weekend, now that I've finally caught up on all my present commitments for work. My own yard was finally tended to, and it is looking better. Still have to get the irrigation system running, it is borked at the moment so I'm playing the move the sprinkler every 3 hours game. After the wet early spring we had, it is hard to believe that we'd actually get this dry. Floods or drought, no in between.

oddmind,

They adopted us in August 2007. Kittehs are 3 years old now! Momma was very skittish around people (but not feral). It was going to take time to get momma to trust us. Shortly after we were adopted, we stopped seeing momma.

Then we moved to across town to another home in 2008.

Whew! Very glad to hear that the state would have a difficult time prosecuting us. My husband is too pretty for prison!

From oddball's post

I'm quite unfamiliar with california weather. to me, it is the land of perpetual summer, and all I ever see in the news is fires and mudslides When you say you're worried about your 'maters, is that because it was too cool for them?!? Is that even possible in CA?
