I used to survey pubs for the guide for a couple of years. If you ever come to the UK, it's well worth getting. Compiled from the reports of local beer lovers across the country who do it for free.

I'm drinking this right now. Don't know if it's snobby, but it sure is good.

My girlfriend is a beer snob; lost on me. She loves going to pubs to check them out, also lost on me. But then, she speaks a language invented by a cat accidentally stumbling over a keyboard.

I really enjoy going to new and different bars. I especially love those bars with an atmosphere so thick you can cut it with a knife. Not the tacky shiat though. Like "Cheers" but without much of the inanity.

/liked the show, but some of it was pretty derivative.

You keep a poured beer in a glass in your basement?

Doesn't it, like, dry out eventually?

/or get drunk?

Huh! Just discovered my neighbourhood pub carries a California Common steam (ale) I hadn't tried. It's from Stratford Brewery, for you Farkers in Ontario (and Ontario is part of Canada, for you Farkers in Iowa).

For the record, I wish it was a hard drinking night - I'd like to see how such a tasty beer stands up to a long session.
Have tried only 200+ independent brewery products in the last 2 years - I have a long way to go...

Okay, I'll be the one to ask the obvious question: is there an American equivalent of the Good Beer Guide? I've googled it and it's sounds like they're a UK only thing. Don't we Americans have a cheap bastardized knockoff of this thing?

I guess there's nothing left to do but go to all the bars in the Bad Beer Guide.

I've had four years of Dark Lord, including a 2007 example two weeks ago.

I've come to the conclusion that it's way too sweet and boozy to really be enjoyed, and 2008 was the only year worth consuming. The hype just isn't worth it.

It's to say I've had it, but otherwise, meh.

overheard at lunch today while a co-worker was describing his sat. night, and i quote "I was trying to leave but i couldn't find the screwdriver to start my truck because i was so drunk"

//so many things wrong with that statement

No need for this to be a beer snob thread. After all, the man was drinking Real Ale, and it simply does not get better than that!

To each their own. I think it's delicious. Not as good as some other hyped beers, but still fantastic.

Kate the Great however beats it by a mile.

Schlafly's extra stout is definitely awesome sauce and a half. The No. 15 also awesome if you're not a stout fan.

Zonker Stout from Brew Pub in Jackson Hole will beat any other stout on any given day tasted by any given person.
