I'm on the Bacon, Beer and Marijuana diet. I have actually gained weight but I wake up everyday knowing that I'll most likely smoke, eat bacon then drink beer, that makes me happy.

I'm on my own diet (made this one up myself). The Lucky Charms diet. Ever see how few calories are in a bowl of Lucky Charms. About 120 per bowl. So, instead of a regular lunch, I eat a bowl of cereal. I like cereal, it tastes good, it's filling, and it's healthy. Then I eat regular dinner. I've lost about 3 pounds since I started about 6 weeks ago.

Woo Hoo,....I won't make a cent will I?

Look see... if you're fat, keep your carbs at 20 grams per day and you'll drop the weight, I did. As you get within 10 pounds of your target weight, increase your carbs a little at a time... the trick is to take in enough carbs so you don't lose weight, or gain. This is usually somewhere between 35-60 grams per day. If you think of it as a diet and stop, you'll gain the weight back. If you think of it as a new eating lifestyle, you'll be lean forever.

Everybody gotta make this shiat difficult. It's not.

Whatever happened to the 'don't eat too much fat, eat lots of vegetables and exercise four times a week' diet? It works for most everyone, including me. I lost about 15 lbs in about two months. Granted I was running and working out 7 days a week, but thats what Squadron Officers School does to ya...

C'mon people, since when was high-fat-no-carbs "healthy"?

I have a couple of points about the Atkins diet; it clearly works and lots of people have lost lots of weight with it. You are not meant to do it for ever, just a couple of weeks something like that.

The problem is that some people are particularly stupid and miss the point...
If you were going to have a burger in a bread bun with chips, you should replace the chips and bread with lettuce, salad and other vegetables, NOT extra sausage, burger, fried egg and cheese. You see all these fat southern yanks on the tele wearing baseball caps eating pork scratchings, it's not rocket science.

Exercise. Start slow, build up. Mix cardio and weight training. I'm not sure if it works for everyone, but the more I exercise, the less I eat. During my first year out of college I lost 65 pounds this way, first time in memory that I wasn't overweight.

I am on the Atkins diet right now - so funny b/c there is all this publicity. This is my 3rd week and I've lost 8 pounds. I have so much more energy, and I am never hungry. I am a total Atkins freak now. The whole trick w/ Atkins is regulating your blood sugar. High carb/high sugar foods (like Coke) cause your blood sugar to spike and then plummet. With Atkins, your b.s. stays stable and you have so much more energy - b/c your metabolism is so much faster. You start burning your stored fat instead of carbs.

Long live protein!

I've been on this diet for a few days now.

I'm a total carbaholic, so it's going to be difficult. But I think since I usually eat so many carbs this may be especially effective for me.

We'll see how it goes.

Exercise and eat moderately. There are some things I will not live without: bread, rice, pasta and dark chocolate. I just switched to whole grain organic bread, brown rice, organic or flax seed pasta and limit my intake of dark chocolate. I've lost 35 pounds so far and I don't feel like I've been on a "diet".
