Never played Red Dead Redemption?

Sorry boss, I got a bad case of dysentary and three broken arms.

2010-05-30 02:19:45 PM
Well, boss, the creek in front of my house was flooded, so I tried to caulk it and float across. I lost an axle and a wheel, and 200 pounds of food. I'm gonna have to stop and hunt down some breakfast before I can make it in.

2010-05-30 03:13:05 PM
I never even heard of this game until Fark. And I never heard of dysentery until Pulp Fiction. I've led a sheltered life.

I feel bad for kids today that have never seen an 8-bit video game and been amazed at how advanced it is.

You have shot 1400 pounds of meat.

You carry 100 back to the wagon.

In other news, Steve Jobs has died of dysentary.

The 'o' in the fallout logo has a lightening bolt on it; because they used the same letters two 'o's in a row look like that.

People don't think twice; most people don't even think once.

I'm not positive, but I think that's a reference to this. (new window)

That would explain the GameSpot logo, at least.

It does when you have friends to play with.

This advergame (new window) will giv you a fairly close approximation of an online playable Oregon Trail through Flash.

Alternatively install a custom plugin and play the real thing (new window)

Wait. Is RDR really anything like Oregon Trail? If so, I may be picking up that game after all.

If Google set up Oregon Trail, I'd name the family members after my bosses in the hopes they'd die of dysentery.

RDR is kinda sorta like the hunting mini-game in Oregon Trail... I guess!?

Oregon Trail 2 was pretty good too, although not played as much. It had quite a bit more detail about what you could purchase and their functions. It also required you to deal with more upkeep on keeping your travelers healthy.

/Initial purchase: No food, 100 ct of Laudanum
//Whenever grandma reports she is starving, administer laudanum

Man, I played Oregon Trail in elementry school. The screens were green and we thought it was so cool.

/never finished the game, kept dying of dysentary

I actually got dysentery once. In India. I don't recommend it.

Wow. pwnage. Yeah, the give both guys 30 lives code took select, didn't it? Ha, anyone who doesn't know that must have been a friendless loser. Or just one of those dicks who said 'No, there's no way to do it, you just have to play with the normal amount of lives.' while you rocked out with all of your lives and just laughed when he went out early, all the while you taunted him to keep up.

Good times. Man those Nintendo cartridges could take a beating.

It's more like Grand Theft Auto: Old West. But you can ride around in a stagecoach and single-handedly drive the entire buffalo population into extinction.

/I once caused a stampede and drove a whole herd off a cliff.

I would like to point out that Oregon Trail is not a game, it's a documentary. Seriously, if you try to move here, you get dysentery.

Also, it rains all the time, and we just got our first indoor toilet.

/The preceding brought to you by the "Keep Oregon Secret" campaign.
