For everyone that was wondering about Angel they did continue it in comic form and released as a paperback book available at your local library...it's not the same thing but it's good for the most part and does give closure.

The Buffy comic seasons are considered canonical as well

/can't get into them, though, for some reason

Alright, I know no one is going to read all the pages of the comments, but I am going to say this to make myself feel better: I don't know who started the idea that Dolores Landingham [West Wing] had just gotten her driver's license when she was killed. I have seen this a couple times recently, and it is just wrong. The big deal about her being killed in a car accident was that she had just purchased her first brand new car, all on her own, after years of her husband going to see a friend of his and getting her a sensible, used car. She had gone to pick it up and bring it back to the White House [the president wanted to look it over] when she was hit.

Because it's a completely different Buffy. The entire focal point in the series was about a girl with the weight of the world on her shoulders trying to live as normal a life as she could, and that's gone now with all the extra Slayers. Also there's the fact that the comics take things a little too far into the unrealistic, even for Buffy.

I actually farking cried.

I didn't cry, but that was a very powerful scene. It's too bad, because that show would be way better if Godric was a regular. I guess he was probably too powerful to have around on a regular basis.

He must be in a flashback because the actor that played him is in an episode this season.

/he wasn't around long enough to make the list though.

Knara: RemyDuron: Buffy's mom's death

Joyce's death was shocking because it was so... matter of fact. So non-dramatic. She died in a way that had nothing to do with the supernatural. It made for the great bit where Dawn tries to bring her back, though.

Willow's reaction to hearing that Jenny had died was more sad than her actual death. You're so caught up in Angelus running around being evil that you're like "woah, what just happened."

I recently rewatched the episode where Calender dies, I think it's probably the first 10/10 fantastic Buffy episode. But the whole scene where Angelus is chasing Calender there are so many moments where, in any other episode, Buffy would pop around the corner and dead Angelus. It gets set up again and again and again and then. . . it just doesn't happen. The whole thing is set up to make you go "Oh, yawn, another character almost dies and gets saved at the last minute by Buffy."

And then there's just the magnificently evil way Angelus sets up Giles house, and Giles reaction and. . . Gah that's a good episode.

abigsmurf: Death Note - Naomi Misora : Trying to catch Kira after he killed her fiance, Light uses the death note to kill her. The method? Suicide over her dead lover. Showing her solemnly walking up a glowing staircase towards a noose was absolutely brutal. Kinda cemented that Light wasn't the good guy in the story.

It was that scene which got me completely hooked on the show. And Light is such a great character to watch go from lawful evil to full-on monster.

And this is why Angelus will always trump Spike is the kick-ass evil vampire category. Seriously... Angelus was around for a portion of Season 3 Buffy and Season 4 Angel and managed to do some fantastically evil stuff. Spike on the other hand was on Buffy for fairly close it's full fun and managed to do... what? Fall in love with a slayer? Whooo way evil there man.

Sorry for the tangent. But yes, thought Jenny's death was fantastically well done.

There's a reason why Drusilla always liked Angelus more, you know...

Spike was a badass compared to humans and other vamps, but Angelus was the best of the bad.

simpsonfan: The MASH scene where Radar enters the operating room to announce it...I read that Gary Burghoff was given the line at the last minute, none of the rest of the cast knew it would happen.

Star Trek TOS had characters die, at least to audience point of view, but in science fiction, they can be brought back easier.

Kirk: Amok Time, Enterprise Incident
McCoy: Shore Leave
Scotty: The Changeling
Chekov: Spectre of the Gun

And Spock died temporarily in the films, and discussing it with McCoy, they seemed to forget that McCoy had died once.

The MASH thing is true, but they had to end up doing two takes.

DICK

So Farkers, what's the rule on discussion for things that are over? I have a friend on Fb that declared no one could talk about the LOST finale, because she was waiting for it on DVD. So the fact that one person wants to watch months later means everyone has to tiptoe around them?

IS there a rule? Should there be one? At what point can we turn to the offended and say, Too farking bad, keep up, or shut up?

Today is that point. In this day and age to think you can remain unspoiled then you do have shiat for brains. The info highway is 8 lanes wide.

When they say they're going to cancel your show, you rewrite the last episode into a farking bloodbath. Everybody and everything buys it in a triumphant massacre the likes of which will never be equaled this side of the Apocolypse.

God, I loved that show.

MonkeyAngst: missmez: Doyle died because the actor who played him was an out-of-control heroin addict. He OD'd 2002.

From what I've read, or not read, I'm guessing Lorne survives the series. He was awesome. But the actor that played him passed away recently, it seems. Too bad.

Lorne survived the series and yes Andy Hallet just died last year of congestive heart failure.

greentea1985: Freschel: The reason why they killed off Henry Blake is they do not want a another spin off just like Trapper John MD.

Could be wrong though. But it did not stop them making After MASH.

But Trapper John didn't leave until a couple of seasons after Henry Blake's death. I think the producers just hated Stevenson.

No, Trapper left at essentially the same time. Blake died in the season 3 finale; the first few episodes of Season 4 had Frank in charge, during which Hawkeye went on leave in Tokyo and came back to find that Trapper had left. Hawkeye then went to try to catch Trapper before he flew home, and ended up bringing BJ back to camp with him. In the next episode, Col. Potter comes in.

mrlewish: Edith Dies

Someone (no, I don't know who) once wrote an alternate ending for that episode.

After the funeral, Archie comes home.
Goes up to the bedroom.
Trips over Edith's slipper.
Picks it up, and starts saying "EDITH, you dingbat! How many times have I told you not to leave your slippers in the middle of the room!"
Takes one more step, and stops.
You can see the realization slowly creep over his face.
He slowly sits on the bed.
Looking at the slipper, he starts saying "Oh, Edith, I was 'sposed to die first. It was 'sposed to be me!"
He starts sobbing for a few seconds.
When he stops, he straightens himself up, puts the slipper down on the bed, and opens the nightstand drawer.
Pulls out a .38 Special.
Says "I remember when I came home with this. Youse was mad as anything. 'Archie', you said, 'we got a little girl in this house, and you bring that home with you? Don't you know any better than that?' And I told you it was for protection from burglars. But you made me promise to get rid of it. Well, Edith, that was the only promise I ever broke. I kept it because I love you, and I didn't want anything to happen to you or Gloria."
The whole time he's talking, the camera slowly pans back, until you see he's loading the cylinder.
"Well, Edith, I'm finally going to get rid of it,"
Archie cocks the hammer back, the camera pans to a wedding photo of Archie and Edith on the dresser.
In the background, you hear a gunshot, and then the thump of a large object hitting the floor.
Fade to black.

I'm rewatching Buffy, too, and I was surprised at how crap the early episodes were, but I thought the quality level was raised just a little bit earlier (from 'Ted' on, which surprised me because I don't really like Ritter)

Yeah, I've heard they changed a few things from the books, but not very much. Apparently just about all of last season was a very SMALL part of the books. I may pick them up at some point, I just don't have time to delve into another series of books. I'm still chugging through some H.P. Lovecraft, Douglas Adams and Khalil Gibran.

Getting so close to the trashy vampire show coming back. I'll have to start watching TV again. LAWL.

Hugo Zorilla: Compo from "Last of the Summer Wine".

I loved that show. Once, I was visiting Manchester, and stayed in a hotel in Oldham. We went across the road to a chip shop for a quick dinner, and I was surprised to see photos of Compo all over the place. I had to ask the waitress, who was frankly shocked to find that I (an American) even knew who Compo was. She explained the actor who played Compo - Bill Owen - owned the place.

Sheer awesome.

RIP COMPO
