You fail the quiz if you visit an AOL site. That was the test. You failed.

I'm getting sick of these lazy farkwits and their "quizzes" that don't utilize the hypertext medium effectively. Making an online quiz that's actually interactive is not difficult or time consuming.

Oh thank god, I'm not a geek, I just spend too much time on the internet.

1) Which DC character was Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" based on?

Is this one a trick question? It was based off of the golden and silver age characters name "The Sandman" with a liberal dose of mythology and literature thrown in.

full and total loserdom. real geek quizzes ask about the entries in the obfuscated [your favourite programming language] contests. asking about dumb TV shows measures not geekiness, but nerditude.

Gaming does not involve a console..
it involves paper, pencil, and lots and lots of dice.
It's nice if you have miniatures and a map you can use grease pen on to figure out line of sight and who's caught by the blast radius of the fireball.

tea_and_cake: It's DOCTOR WHO and he is THE DOCTOR.

Technically there's only been one Dr Who.

Peter Cushing, all the others were known as The Doctor, he was known as Dr Who.

correct, Tom Baker.

The Green Lantern question was also kind of vague.

I mean, Alan Scott was the first Green Lantern on Earth. However, he wasn't assigned to earth by the Corps, he was acting on his own. Also, a case can be made for Abin Sur being the first GL Assigned to sector 2814 that we saw, because he was still alive in the origin story before he gave the ring to Hal.

2814 encompasses more than just Earth, so it's questionable whether you could refer to any of them as being "assigned to Earth." Also, while Kyle and Guy are Honor Guard, all four Lanterns from Earth are currently active, so "Who's the current one?" is vague.

Comics:
either 5, 6 or 7 out of 7.

Questions 6 and 7 have multiple true answers that are considered canon. I'd give myself 7/7 because I know there are multiple answers to questions #6 and 7 even if my own instincts don't coincide with whatever answer the author goes with.

Television
5/7. Though I'd really appreciate an answer to question #5 ;)

Anime
2/7. Though I get extra credit for q3's G1 lore.

Computers/internets
5/7

Film
7/7

Gaming
6/7. Wtf is question #4?

General geekery
4/7

Not bad. Though the questions were too mainstream imho, someone who has watched that CBS sitcom would know 1/2 or better of these answers.

you haven't been exposed to the right ones.... some are more poignantly made than regular films: just google Ebert's (of siskel and ebert) on "Grave of the fireflies" or if you wanna get ultraviolent maybe some "ninja scroll"....a lot of great animation out there....but the best so far--and its cliche--but anything produced by studio Ghibli, family friendly yet extraordinary animation and writing...far far beyond anything disney has ever produced.

Yeah, but technically he's not canon. Though I think now you get double points on that question for being extra technical and having superior knowledge.

I knew all the film ones, but only 1or2 in each of the other catagories.

comix 1, heh, sandman is based on "the sandman" heh.

Seen Cowboy Bebop (movie), Ninja Scroll, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Vampire Hunter D, Lodoss War, Akira, pieces of DBZ (I know, I know), Ruroni Kenshin, Naruto, and a couple others.

Spirited/Mononoke were decent (Spirited was great for the first 1/3-2/3 or so, then it turned cheesy). Lodoss had a great intro and awful everything else. Ninja scroll had a little too much rape for my taste, and the rest of them sucked.

I'm just not an anime person.
