So you're not allowed to titillate yourself Down Under?

/I see what you did there, subby

And they don't define it as illegal pronography on the forms.

Australia is generally pretty loose but some mainstream pron from the US & UK is illegal here so...could get done for a pretty serious crime just by bringing some pron which may be legal in your own country or even worse you could done for lying to the federal government for some boobies on your laptop if you don't declare it and they find it if they decide to not like you.

Bonus the example given on the radio was British spanking movies which are apparently illegal here...

asologies for the syntax errors!

That's one reason that when I travel, I don't keep anything except programs on my personal laptop. Then once I'm at my destination, I can connect to my home computer and get whatever I need. Also, I use encrypted USB sticks.

Sir Cumference the Flatulent: Also, I use encrypted USB sticks.

I would think they would take an even closer look at encrypted files....presumably if they are looking for filthy nonces and not just boobie appreciators.

Sir Cumference the Flatulent

They can make you decrypt the sticks. One can write an encryption program that decrypts to something innocuous or incriminating depending on the password. I don't know if such programs are widely available.

When I took corporate information security training the recommended practice was to download encrypted after arrival rather than transport encrypted data through customs.

2010-05-20 09:26:27 AM
This could end well

2010-05-20 09:26:46 AM
This is good. Anal sluts have no natural predators in Australia.

2010-05-20 09:29:21 AM
This is pants on head retarded. So the customs officials will be the only people in the country allowed to search for small tits and female ejaculation? Sounds, uh, fair.

2010-05-20 09:29:49 AM
Seriously, wtf is going on with Australia. They're almost worse than the U.S.

2010-05-20 09:30:36 AM
I've seen this movie! It involves a search by two blondes...with sexy results.

Boom Chicka Wow wow..

OY OY OY!

2010-05-20 09:35:50 AM
Okay, now THIS is when you start shooting people in power. It just abuse of power for its own sake.

I think Australian lawmakers are safe though since all the men seem to have either left or been neutered.

2010-05-20 09:36:36 AM
Oh man, would I love to go through this. They are only looking for child porn. That doesn't mean I can't have my collection of lactating gannies with rubber fists, squirting midget furries, or butch lesbian scat fetish pictures everywhere.

I would actually imagine that it could be quite amusing.

TFA: Australian customs officers have been given new powers to search incoming travellers' laptops and mobile phones for pornography, a spokeswoman for the Australian sex industry says.

Wow, Australia has everything. Except reliable sources.

2010-05-20 09:38:11 AM
What about pooftas? Do you have to declare pooftas?

What about wattle?

2010-05-20 09:39:26 AM
Customs needs to be slower with fapping breaks and all.

2010-05-20 09:40:06 AM
Ya know, if you search someone hard enough you wind up with pornography.

2010-05-20 09:40:55 AM
I didn't notice that on my card in December, and no one checked any of my devices for b00bies.

"G'day! How ya goin? Got any porn?"

2010-05-20 09:40:58 AM
In all honesty, though, you can get an Australian woman to sleep with you pretty easily. They are more willing and enjoy it more than English girls who are reputed to be the loosest in the world.

So why bring porn in? Enjoy the country, bask in the natural beauty, and have a pretty sheila two or three times a day for the duration of your stay.

2010-05-20 09:41:06 AM
Eff them and their god damn wiener schnitzel.

ZAZ: They can make you decrypt the sticks.

No idea about Australian law (and I try not to screw with the laws in other countries), but there's no way that the government or anyone else can prove that you even know the password to something like that. Until they can look into your brain, couldn't you just deny that you know the password/key?

2010-05-20 09:43:04 AM
You can have my pr0n when you take it from my cold, sticky hands!

Bro, do I have a cool story for you.

When visiting Germany, I decided to bring home a souvenir of the most German thing I could think of - fisting porn. On the flight home, I got stopped at customs, possibly for being by far the scruffiest-looking guy on the flight.

I got to stand and watch as an attractive young women went through my stuff - books, clothes, fisting porn.

Things get pretty hazy after that, but I'm pretty sure she invited me back to her place for a fist party with her twin sister.

3rd headline lifted straight from Slashdot in as many consecutive days. Subby is a no-talent zero-contribution lazy hack.

More filth that the Australians are trying to keep out of their pristine, God-Fearing country:

I suspect it's not really NSFW, but I don't dare.

Which part of forced internet censorship and banning video games intended for people over 16?
/Nanny State says play more Elmo dammit

Ahh, Australia. Only 25 years behind the US of A in puritanism.

2010-05-20 09:48:57 AM

Once the Poms and Euro pussies convinced the Ozzies to give up their guns it was just a matter of time before they went full Nanny. Dont worry convicts, your pussification is now complete but the bleeding hearts will protect you from yourselves.

Once a jolly farker flew to Australia
His laptop was laden with pornography
And he sang as he fapped and waited for his plane to land
"Who'll come a-searching for boobies with me?"

Searching for boobies
Searching for boobies
Who'll come a-searching for boobies with me?
And he sang as he fapped and waited for his plane to land
Who'll come a-searching for boobies with me?

Down flew the plane and he waited in the customs line
Up came the agents: one, two, three
And they said as they searched and probed that poor farker
Did you declare any pornography?

Up jumped the farker in a blaze of glory
"You'll never take me alive," said he
And his ghost may be heard as you pass by the terminal
"You'll come a-searching for boobies with me."

You can deny knowing the key. Authorities don't have to believe you. People get locked up for contempt for hiding assets which might not exist. Some are required to prove that nowhere in the world is there any money belonging to the prisoner which has not been disclosed to the court. All the judge has to say is "I don't believe you" and you go to jail forever. There was a guy in Pennsylvania who spent close to a decade in jail for supposedly hiding money owed his ex in a divorce case. He swore all along there was no hidden money. (Not sure if he's still in jail.)

One I sent a care package of American food to my Australian friend who had returned home, and he said the box arrived mangled and rooted through, with a note from Customs saying they had confiscated the marshmallow Fluff. So, I've always got this mental image of Australian Customs agents sitting around all day eating Fluffernutters and laughing.

2010-05-20 09:57:24 AM
I thought Australia was cool?
