Poorly-written article is shiat.

See, this illustrates what's wrong with NASCAR; if he had just grokked how to turn right, none of this would've happened ...

//Pretty obscure.

Why can't NASCAR follow other acronyms like laser and sonar and become Nascar or nascar? But then again, I assume most NASCAR fans have they keyboards set on cruise control for cool.

Submitted this with other headlines/articles.

"Ex NASCAR racer fails to elude CHP, because the offramps were all on the right"

"Corvette driver leads police on a high speed chase for 26 minutes. Until his engine gives out on an offramp. Only GM"

Interesting report, but does anyone know what he did for a living? With those sorts of driving skills, he should have gone into some sort of professional motor racing sports.

Coming from someone who is usually a European car enthusiast, I must say, the LS2 V8 is really a good engine. Especially for one that uses pushrods. They're really pretty damn good.

That said, it isn't nearly as good as, for instance, the BMW V8, which makes more power -- 414bhp at a screaming 8,300rpm vs. 400@6000 -- despite having a much lower displacement of 4 liters compared to 6. Even better, the V10 in the M5 makes 500bhp@8250rpm and very nearly as much torque (380 ft-lb compared to 400) while still having a liter less displacement.

That's funny, I think the same thing about horse racing. What would it be like if they ran 200 laps?

Oh, and Joe Piscopo has really let himself go.

Lightweight. Dodging other cars on an enclosed track is a different skill than losing pursuers through a labyrinth of escape routes.

555-FILK: You know how I know your peener is small that you love cars?

I know, I get excited about engineering details, like cylinder dimensions, or individual throttle butterflies. I like engines that have high redlines, or that make high bhp/liter. I can't help being car geek.

PsychoPhil: I was going to guess "Because he gets excited about BMWs".

If I was going to use a car as a penile prosthetic, I'd pick something bigger and more useless.
A Hummer H2, maybe, or one of those ridiculous lifted Ford F-250s.

Seriously, I don't know why it is so hard to believe that someone might like sports cars just because they're fun to drive. Have none of you ever driven a fast car, or loved the sound of an engine, or even enjoyed racing go-karts? Does everyone really want a car that is just an appliance for getting from A to B?
