MugzyBrown: You're a partisan hack if you assess any blame to Bush for 9/11 or Katrina, just as you are if you assess blame to Obama for this oil spill or whatever else was Obama's Katrina before this time.

I said, in my post, "You can't BLAME Bush for 9/11 nor for Katrina. They were far outside of his control."

Can't you read?

You can sure as hell blame him for the Administration response to Katrina, the inactivity related to terror issues BEFORE 9/11, the way in which terror was handled AFTER 9/11, among many other things.

Phil Herup: Of course.

It is the left wing's actions and statements, not the Presidents themselves.

It is always about the the never ending daily hypocrisy of the left.

Yeah, or alternately, there really is a difference. Which would, you know, kind of like justify different reactions. And junk.

Can dead sea turtles be used for anyting profitable? Like chopping them into chunks for catfood, or baiting crab pots?

I could go for some Alaskan King crab legs tonight.

It would make me feel better if I knew the dead dolphins, sea turtles or Menhaden were at least being washed in Dawn and recycled.

Of course there's a difference. Bush was the greatest President ever, and history will vindicate him. Obama, on the other hand, is absolutely horrible, just as bad as Bush.

lincoln65: Timeline of the Administration's response the the oil rig explosion. (new window)

Joe Scarborough and some Fox Host attack the "Katrina" talking point (new window)

Quote from Fox:
"The morning after the Secretary - the Interior Secretary deployed his deputy to the region to coordinate it all and on the 22nd when it sank, the national response team was activated and later that day the President convened a meeting in the Oval Office with all those involved."
I mean at some point in the beginning they were relying also on the oil company BP, this was a disaster that people didn't have a lot of information about, it's all happening a mile under water.

1,836 people died in Hurricane Katrina. Everyone knew it was coming.

Yes, and had the federal dikes not failed at fare below their rated safety limit, pretty much everyone would have been fine.

The damage was done by the flooding.

Are you referring to the levees who's federal maintenance dollars were squandered for decades by corrupt local officials?

Yeah, but they were pretty much all black people. Black folks vs. white beaches? Icky goo on the beach at Biloxi is worth at least a couple of hundred black folks.

Blacks made up only half the deaths in New Orleans, yet they made up about 2/3s the population. Enough with this nonsense.

Can I blame him for never aggressively responding to an attack that killed 17 U.S. soldiers?

Can I blame him for redirecting U.S. military attention from Islamic terrorism to "Star Wars" missile defense in early 2001? For ignoring Richard Perle?

// plenty to blame Bush about for 9/11, even more for the aftermath

This is just more of Bush's wrecking of our government system floating up to the top where it's visible. That's also why Obama needs two terms, so he can get rid of every single Bush appointee in every single government agency responsible for regulating and overseeing businesses and replace them with people who will do their jobs. Bush appointed hundreds of officials in these jobs and told to relax restrictions, reduce inspections, and not punish offenders on the rare chance they actually found a violation.

We've had coal mine disasters where the regulatory agencies can't close them down for safety violations, banking disasters with lax regulators looking the other way, and now a massive oil spill where the inspectors didn't even check on them the few times they were supposed to. What would finally get some of you to open your eyes? A nuclear meltdown? Maybe a dam collapse? A Bhopal-like disaster?

Hobodeluxe: FishStampede: Haha! I get it! Nice Phil Herup impression, HoboDeluxe! Only you're doing the Bizarro, Left-wing version. Clever!

/Just as obnoxious when I agree.

I wouldn't call what I posted the Bizarro left wing version.
more like the mainstream conventional wisdom version.

Hey, I DID say I agree. By Bizarro I meant opposite, and left wing because, well, he's undeniably right wing. Long story short, I agree with your message, I just find the methods annoying as hell.

its the government's fault when there's a spill.

but when there are efforts to tighten regulations on the oil f*cks, they whine and moan about government "interferring" with business.

the actor ronnie reagan talked about that alot.

now, things have gone downhill. its the government's fault!

stebain: This is not Katrina. This is Chernobyl without the secrecy.

Agreed.

But I don't see how it can be blamed on Obama. It's not like he came to office and deregulated the off-shore drilling industry. He did move quickly to monitor the situation and setup hundreds of miles of those floating barriers.

The major problem, is that besides cutting corners, BP and the industry never had a plan for what to do if this kind of leak occurred.

unfortunately for many on the right, the history books are going to write down bush as the worst president ever. Simply the fact that you make comparisons of the current administration to your last attempt, and that these comparisons are somehow supposed to be derogatory just solidify the fact for anyone with a brain that you clowns have no clue what you are doing.
