Just goes to show that all soccer teams are mad.

Don't think for one minute they really care, it's just that
this gives them some extra publicity.

2001-10-03 07:11:18 AM
Chelsea has a soccer team?
2001-10-03 07:11:48 AM
Damn you SatchmoR, you beat me to it.
2001-10-03 07:15:13 AM
We are talking Chelsea, London; not Chelsea Cli(n)ton.
2001-10-03 07:15:34 AM
Image is everything.
2001-10-03 07:17:44 AM
Guess not many Israelis wanna "Fly Emirates". Wonder why? Emirates kick ass.
2001-10-03 08:03:44 AM
Futbol is the only sport I know of where the sponsor's logo
is the largest thing on the uniform, except maybe NASCAR
which is just a bunch of hillbillies and people who like fads....reminds me of CB's back in the 70's
2001-10-03 08:12:36 AM
If I were prez' of Chelsea I wouldn't even go to Israel at this moment. I know there are more clubs who are reluctant to go there. Roda from the Netherland p.e. I think the UEFA has to make a salomon's judgement whether to play or not in Israel.
Same thing happened a few years ago on the world cup soccer in Liberia(?) for players younger than 21
2001-10-03 08:18:31 AM
"We will not be wearing the Emirates branding in Tel Aviv," said Chelsea's managing director Colin Hutchinson.

Neither would I - it'd be like putting a target on your chest. This isn't [image from too old to be available], it's [image from too old to be available].

2001-10-03 08:26:04 AM
Why the hell is Israel even in a EUROPEAN cup tournament. What next FC Antartica?
2001-10-03 08:30:33 AM
Mungo: you are talking out your ass. It's not "obvious." As an Israeli, I can tell you that no one here could really care less who a foreign team's sponsors are. And if some local idiot decided to sling some verbal insults, it would still be a far cry from "putting a target on your chest."

grow up.
2001-10-03 08:32:37 AM
And once more, Israel DICTATES what the rest of the "Free" world should do.
2001-10-03 08:35:47 AM
As opposed to the US, of course, which is telling Afghanistan to hand over OBL without giving any evidence. That's just as opposed to dictatorial.
2001-10-03 08:45:23 AM
Goatman264, what makes you think there is no evidence of bil Laden being a terrorist?
2001-10-03 08:48:02 AM
Are ya tryin ta troll a wee bit?
2001-10-03 08:48:50 AM
The fact that everyone's saying "We've got evidence" "What is it?" "Er... we're not telling you - it's a secret.". It's as transparent as a 6 year old saying it.
2001-10-03 08:50:43 AM
I would say I enjoy having a bit of a laugh, but I wouldn't say I was a troll. I find it quite amusing how wound up people get at a non-party point of view, though.
2001-10-03 08:56:14 AM
Aah, the "Reasonable Troll" approach, guaranteed to work wonders on Fark.
Carry on.
2001-10-03 08:56:26 AM
Goatman, do you read?
Maybe you should suggest that the Taliban stop beating women and executing them for crap like saying no to their husbands and read too.
Ignorant and stupid remark.
I oppose Israel and I oppose the US supporting Israel...
I also oppose any ignorant wad that thinks that if we even attempted to "Play ball" with the Taliban, that they would waver in their stand.
These are the same assholes that said,
the day of the attacks, that "Bin Laden was not capabale of organizing the attacks for lack of equipment"
and then saying,
two days after,
"we just took his Sat-Phones, Computers and Fax Machines away",
and then two days after that,
"We have no idea where he is"
and several days after that,
"We know where he is but we ain't telling"
and a couple days after that,
"We have him under control and we ain't turning him over",
and a few days after that,
"He is a guest and we will ask him to leave but he doesn't have to."
So... What would be the point of turning over evidence that could, in effect, be given to him (And probably would be if the Taliban had it) and used to once more evade capture, execute informants and otherswise destroy the possibility of bringing justice to the asshole?
I reiterate, your remark was STUPID and IGNORANT.
2001-10-03 09:00:56 AM
Goatman - Fair play!

Lets not lose sight of the fact that the people behind the monstrous events of the 11th sept need to be bought swiftly to justice BUT the whole "we are so sure we know he did it that we arent going to tell anyone about it" policy stinks!

You cant conduct a trial by airstrikes.

For the record:

Chelsea are a very good Football team.
Fortunately - we havent got to the farsical levels of sponsordhip in the UK that you have in the US where players have "Official League Headwear"
Israel compete in the european cup and the european song contest
2001-10-03 09:06:57 AM
Frksamor: All I'm pointing out is that most people think that anyone who doesn't think like them is STUPID and IGNORANT. That doesn't mean to say that they're wrong. One man's meat is another man's murder etc etc.

As Crazy Ivan says, you can't hold a trial by airstrike. But the US (helped by us here in the UK, I don't deny) looks like it's about to give it a bloody good try.
2001-10-03 09:10:52 AM
I'll take "execution by airstrike." Saves money and time. And if you have a problem with that, call someone who gives a damn.
2001-10-03 09:14:07 AM

Or Freddy Your rights as a human being are revoked?
2001-10-03 09:15:48 AM
Goatman: There is proof for the 1993 bombing attempt that Bin Laden was involved, although that lead to botched missile strikes last time. You could still ask for extradition on that if one can't prove this.

Frksamor: Just because the Taleban are awful - and they are awful - that doesn't give anyone else the right to judge a sovereign nation and invade them, despite the fact that personally I'd like to see them gone tomorrow. If Bin laden is still there, and the proof holds up to scrutiny, and the Teleban still won't give him up, then fark them. But it has to be seen to be done fairly or we'll lose the moral highground.
2001-10-03 09:19:45 AM
100% agree Mungo
2001-10-03 09:41:53 AM
Mungo, reference to the Talibans "Islamic Laws" (Total abuse of that term) was just a cherry on the pie of proving their level of inhuman ignorance.
Governement by murdering innocent women and children and men is not a government. Hitler thought his was but he was corrected.
2001-10-03 09:49:06 AM
Mungo: Good points.
2001-10-03 10:10:15 AM
Well, Chelsea has completely disappointed me!
I can't farking believe this crap....maybe they should put on yamakas for the game...just so they don't piss any orthodox jews off?!?

farking bullshiat!!
2001-10-03 10:44:53 AM
Mungo: Good points. I was merely drawing attention to the fact that they're after him for this crime, but refuse to give any evidence against him. The fact that he can be linked to the 1993 events isn't really here nor there if they're going to do him for this. It's like saying "He did it! He did it! It must be him 'cos he robbed that shop a couple of years ago!" - I personally find it unconvincing.

Of course, it very probably was him, but then again, I get a lot of blame too.
2001-10-03 11:11:29 AM
Allrighty, back to the subject now, ladies and gentlemen!
2001-10-03 11:24:03 AM
2 more good points: Boobies!
2001-10-03 11:28:08 AM
Boobies. Amen.
2001-10-03 11:35:35 AM
Isn't this like boycotting Arab bodegas brought to a much higher level?
2001-10-03 12:14:28 PM
Who cares? It is soccer for christs sakes. Rigoddamndiculous!
2001-10-03 01:08:06 PM
Chelsea has a soccer team?

I think Jenna's the one who "had" a soccer team, actually.
2001-10-03 01:13:33 PM
Goatman "probably did it". That's good enough for me. Nuke em'
2001-10-03 01:14:18 PM
ooops "probably was him" got me so pissed I misquoted
2001-10-03 01:51:44 PM
I've got your #!
35 cents says your still playing with tonka toys.
Time to change your pullups ;)
2001-10-03 03:47:38 PM
I can't see why this is assinine, I think that it's very commendable. They are showing respect to the country they are visiting.
This decision should be taught as an example of good sportsmanship, respect and courtesy.
2001-10-03 03:55:31 PM
eat shiat hank you dumbfarker....
that is the dumbest thing i've heard on this thread....

in your opinion then, shouldn't israelis be forced to remove any company sponsored by jews whenever they go to any muslim country!?!?

god you must have trouble remembering to breathe!!
2001-10-03 05:02:23 PM
They cope with soccer hooligans tanked up on a skinful of bitter and armed with knuckle-dusters but they are worried about offending a few Jews.

What pack of pussies.
2001-10-03 05:14:10 PM
is that the best you can do? Lurking about looking to unleash venom on the most obscure target?

why don't you find a nice fiery thread suitable for your vitriol. You're boring.
2001-10-03 05:44:18 PM
most obscure target?

What the fark are you talking about?
2001-10-03 05:47:58 PM
BONGO_FURYHere, here.
I've got two questions for you.
Do you guys call your continent Australia or Australasia? I am having a hell of an argument with my kids (USA) school on this matter!
Have you heard anything about some guys who got stuck in a glacier 23 years ago being contacted? (Seen on full of shiat CNN)
2001-10-03 06:20:46 PM
Make that 38 years, I'm getting too old for this T.
2001-10-03 06:26:01 PM
HMLT skilz gon awry We8?
T = poops;)
2001-10-03 06:27:01 PM
Beer does that to me !
2001-10-03 07:19:38 PM
We82bl8 - I suspect either would be abhorrent to a New Zealander! Australasia is the only term wheeled out when one is describing Australia and New Zealand - basically used only for statistical purposes.

And KowboyThrasher - I'd say the majority of sporting teams across the world nowadays have sponsors larger than the team emblem - honestly the only places I see that have more modest sponsorship are American sporting teams (domestic that is) and cricket.
