There's a limit, man, and the Fast and Furious movies just blow right through it. Fast and the Furious is to car-related action movies as The Core is to Sci-Fi. I can tolerate some pretty inaccurate crap if the movie is otherwise entertaining (Hackers, Sunshine), but, again, there's a limit, man. Fast and the Furious takes it from "annoys car geeks" to "annoys anybody who at least knows what an internal combustion engine is".

Basically, if you know enough to pump your own gas without setting yourself on fire, odds are you know enough that the "technical" jargon used will grind your nerves like a cheese-grater.

I didn't mind the latest Fast and Furious too much. yeah, i lost a brain cell or two watching it, but I wasn't expecting it to be a cinematic masterpiece like Avatar or anything. (snicker)

I'm not much of a car guy myself, but I don't think the movies would bug me as much if they actually did more of the racing scenes with actual cars. USA had a fascination with the second one for a while, running it, it seemed, at least once a week. And it looked to me anyway like half the racing scenes, you know, what you'd be there to see the movie for, were done with CGI. Blatantly obvious CGI too. I mean, really, what's the point? If it's supposed to be about the flashy cars, why not have real cars?

Oh, and that god damned stupid EMP grappling hook bullshiat that could short out cars by sticking in the door panels and getting caught in the grills of the cop cars.
