I think it would be hilariously awesome if the NFL announced Magic Hat or Rogue or Anchor Brewing as the official beer sponsor.

At a billion dollar+ price tag, we all better start upping the consumption to make that happen.

Well they are looking for a beer sponsor, not a alcohol infused urine sponsor. Dogfish Head would be a good choice. Maybe a duel sponsorship with 3 Floyds. Popskull, official beer of the NFL

I hope MillerCoors can push their Leinenkugels, as that is one of their premium beer labels. Too bad Sam Adams did not get it as they are the biggest American brewery left.

Something tells me that if Rogue (or any other microbrew) started selling as much beer as Budweiser most of the posters here would biatch about it being crap also.

When I buy beer, I only want to pay for beer, not NFL salaries. $1B is a lot of money; I wonder what that adds to the price of bud.

And doesn't the NFL already kinda charge for their product with tickets and DirectTV packages?

Yuengling is not far behind and gaining.
Boston Beer Company: 1.4 million barrels
Yuengling: 1.2 million barrels, and the oldest operating American brewery.

Does anyone drink these major label beers because they think they taste good?

It's about price. Without all the advertising Natural Light and Bud Light would cost the same and people would treat them like they treat Mad Dogg and Olde English 40s.

2010-05-04 11:42:12 PM
If they were smart they'd choose a gourmet CA beer like West Coast IPA or Racer 5. So many Bud Light fans would learn what real beer tastes like. The only thing is these people who are used to shiat beer would be trashed off 8-9% ABV beers before they could finish a whole sixer.

coors lite >= miller lite >= bud lite

regular Budweiser is okay at the game out the tap, i think. Tough paying 8 bucks for 1 though.

all 3 are about the same as a golden shower, not sure it matters. Here is STL you can get yours right from the clydesdale!

You, sir, are wrong. Guiness is pretty nasty, but not nearly as nasty as the pisswater they brew in St. Louis.

If you drink "lite" beer, you fail at life and should consider taking a firecracker to the testicles.

My cheap beer of choice: Henry Weinhard's (new window)

Fark beer threads are usually pretty lame. If you like good beer, you get to be cool for a thread. If you don't care, you're a troll. Great. I like to not spend $4+ per beer if I go to a bar, so sometimes I drink MGD, PBR, Bud, or whatever else might be cheap.

Maybe I'm just spoiled living in Portland, but good beer is like a classic car versus cheaper beers being the daily commuter car.

2010-05-05 02:05:55 AM
I think I graduated to true beer snobery sometime last year.

Winter: Linie's Red, Murphy's Imported Stout.
Summer: MGD, Linie's , and Lienies Summer Shandy. Spotted Cow. Land Shark.

Mock me fore what I drink. I honestly don't care. But It's wierd I crave darker beers in winter, seeing as how I used to drink anything.

Blech Guinness is indeed crap. If you think Guinness makes a good stout you should try one of the following:

Smitchwick's
St. Peter's Cream Stout
Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout
Young's Double Chocolate Stout

And then you will realize that Guinness is not that great. I hear it gets better if you get it in the UK though.

I for one will miss the Coors commercials.

bemis23: And then you will realize that Guinness is not that great. I hear it gets better if you get it in the UK though.

Yeah, it is much better in the UK. I got a few pints of Guinness Red while in London last year. Some of the better beer that I had on the trip.

So, i like good beer, but like to binge at tailgates/on weekends, at which time i prefer to drink Miller Lite so i can always have a drink in my hand and maintain a buzz for 8-12 hours as opposed to getting drunk and passing out or trying to stretch 6 beers over 3-4 hours.

can't we have it both ways? i'll drink my Yuengling, Smithwick's, Full Moon, or other "good" beer of choice M-F when i'm enjoying 2-3 beers, but when i'm making a day of it, i'll take Miller Lite every time (unless i'm on a boat, for some reason Coors Light seems to be the beer of choice when on the water)...

/Likes Miller Lite

Well they'd be costimg themselves hundreds of millions of dollars, so "smart" isn't the word I'd use. Though after a few beers with those ABVs maybe they wouldn't care. ;)

Thinking that Coors or Bud isn't that bad means you shouldn't post in a thread about Coors or Bud? My point was if you don't mind drinking cheap beer sometimes people automatically label you a troll. Did you decide to only read one sentence of my entire post?
