Lost in Translation is one of the most overrated movies ever made. Quick Change is one of the funniest movies ever made.

You're half right, submitter, but I'm still going to have to ask you to suck my dick.

sigdiamond2000: Lost in Translation is

good. No one ever said it was great, but it captures a certain feeling expats can get perfectly. It's what you might call a niche market.

I AM AWARE HE DID ONE OF THE FUNNIEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME BUT I will not forgive him for the snoozefest that is Lost in Translation.

And sigdiamond2000, I think my biggest issues with Quick Change were (A)clowns and (B)Geena Davis. Granted, it's been about seventeen years since I last saw it.

Not only will I leap through this computer ITG-style and beat your ass to a farking pulp, submitter, but I have to ask:

WHO THE FARK GREENLIGHTED THIS BULLshiat?!

Seriously, is this guest tard night at the admin terminal? Quick Change is one of the most underrated movies of all time. OF ALL TIME!

And this headline is so farking easy to write if you just substitue Scrooged. Would that have been so hard?

GODDAMN IT! I just checked your profile, and it was you! How do you know exactly how to to make me angry with rage, and who on the admin staff is abetting your insanity?! I don't believe for a minute that you both like Scrooged and hate Quick Change.

It's been about seventeen years since I last saw Quick Change; I suppose at thirteen I must have missed a lot of the humor. I just checked the Wiki page and saw it had a pretty solid cast. I suppose one of these days I can try it again.

And yes, I love Scrooged. It's on the same shelf as National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Home Alone, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Elf, and The Ice Harvest.

Fano, I read all your posts in Dave Chappelle's voice.

Okay, that came out wrong. Slow down. Before anyone starts calling me a "troll," let me state my case.

I farking love Ghostbusters. I love Ghostbusters 2, even with all its flaws. But I'm tired of watching shiat get adapted for new generations. I'm tired of lazy Hollywood. And I don't want some "hip" young director farking up Ghostbusters.

All things being equal, I'd rather just enjoy my DVDs and leave the series as it is.

I'm with the commenters here; Quick Change is farking brilliant. One of my favorite comedies of all time.

I'm not familiar with Quick Change, but Lost in Translation was brilliant. I think people went in expecting another Groundhog Day or Caddyshack and were baffled that he was simply doing a serious film.

I love the interaction between the two main characters and the sort of alienation in an exciting, but strange, foreign land.

Actually, people who liked Lost in Translation were more interested in Scarlett Johanson's ass. We still are.

Now Broken Flowers. That movie was just.... unnecessary

Great film.

"She's a farking biatch, Lloyd."

Quick Change is a classic. Geena Davis screaming "THE GOD DAMN AIRPORT!" was so hot.

A good film which doesn't seem like a good film is, "Junebug" with Amy Adams. That woman is a talented chick, and it's a darn good movie.

FTFY. For the rest of the expats who don't get that feeling, we just sit there and laugh at them. Assimilate or alienate.

Lost in Translation was terrific, just watching white people be white people. I just don't know any other way of putting it.

I've only ever seen that movie when it played on HBO. I don't even recall it being screened in theaters or at least any near me.
During the late 90's that movie aired at least once per day on HBO.
Lost count of how many times I viewed it.

Tragically underrated.

Interestingly, I just watched it again. I think it also bothers people because it reminds them how mind-numbingly repetitive their own days are, and they aren't in some mystical movie scenario.

As for women hating it, that's a new one for me. Perhaps they hate that Murry actually gets the girl in the end when he was such a douche at the start. Or that they have dated douches like his character and they thought they could change the guy they dated just like Murry's character did... and of course it never happened for them (because, well, it's a fiction).

Egon (Ramis) said during the Cubs game the other day that filming is suppose to start in 2012 with "all the original guys, just with larger costumes". I'm all for GB3. I'm not one of those types that thinks a new movie can do anything to ruin the original. If it's good, that's awesome. If it sucks, who cares?

You've described it well. I like to call it a reincarnation movie--you come back and back again and again until you're ready to love. I doubt Murray or Ramis meant that, but that's what the movie means to me.

I thought that movie was fantastic, and he played the role in an understated yet effective manner. and the comment above yours is right, he perfectly captures the feelings of an expat in that movie without hardly saying a word.

To each his own I guess, but the movie is only a snoozefest if you're not able to feel empathy for what the character is going through.
