Weird, I almost submitted this with "witchcraft blamed" but erased it and just put "Snake eats 15 year old boy." The admins then READ MY DAMN MIND and put back in my original thought. Creepy.

/puts tinfoil hat on and crawls back under bed.
2003-05-08 11:51:45 PM
The boy probably had MacDonalds' special sauce on him.
2003-05-08 11:58:42 PM
Shel Silverstein flash back anyone?
I'm being eaten by a boa constrictor, a boa constrictor, a boa constrictor....
2003-05-09 02:46:13 AM
Apparent Nuisance

At least they didn't add "zaniness ensues" to it.

Wait, so the snake isn't the number 1 suspect here? Has he already hired Cochren for the Chewbacca defense?
2003-05-09 03:27:11 AM
If the skin does not fit, you must aquit!
2003-05-09 04:02:48 AM
Don't believe everything you read, for I read it over a year ago. Its a hoax!
2003-05-09 04:02:48 AM
It's that damn Harry Potter up to his old tricks again.
2003-05-09 04:03:07 AM
Huh? Whoa. It's. Late. Why. Do. I! Talk. Like. Kirk? Must. Stop the. MADNESS!
2003-05-09 04:04:03 AM
I have a big snake.
2003-05-09 04:05:56 AM
2003-05-09 04:07:49 AM
What a horrible way to die.

Cool snake though!
2003-05-09 04:08:56 AM
But I want to know who wrote this headline (on the same page):

Nigerian MPs curb sleaze body
2003-05-09 04:11:42 AM
Wow! If I wasn't so sure this was bullshiat, I'd be frightened.
2003-05-09 04:11:44 AM
that's so farked up that the bbc does a story that fark proves to be a hoax in five hours...well...snopes proved it, get what i'm saying. it even has one of the pictures that snopes has...messed up.
2003-05-09 04:12:36 AM
The snake was still alive but when it has eaten something like this it can't move an inch. Some brave men tied up its head

Brave men, tying up the head of a snake that can't move an inch.
2003-05-09 04:13:34 AM
dog bites man, not news.
man bites dog, news.

snake eats man, news
man eats snake, bay area

woman eats snake, not my wife
2003-05-09 04:14:56 AM
Mofomisfit, why do you assume it's a hoax? The BBC picture doesn't identify it as being of the boy case, the caption just says "snakes in the town have eaten goats before but never humans".
2003-05-09 04:15:42 AM
Mofomisfit -- send this to Instapundit with the subject FARK FISKS BBC SNAKE STORY and it will cause a right wing conniption for days!
2003-05-09 04:18:32 AM
I read the story,
then Big Orange Cat's link showed me,
This tale's been bunked...Cool.
2003-05-09 04:19:00 AM
Cola, because the Snopes debunking of it include the exact same photos, maybe?
2003-05-09 04:19:18 AM
His last words had to have been "Hey ya'll watch this."
2003-05-09 04:19:24 AM
Ice Cube was unavailable for comment.
2003-05-09 04:19:49 AM
I'd hit finalhit.
2003-05-09 04:23:16 AM
Someone put the picture of Milhouse eaten by the school snake STAT!
2003-05-09 04:24:29 AM
Spoofman_v2.0, so? Snopes identify the photo as being real. BBC captions their version with "snakes in the town have eaten goats before but never humans" which implies that the snake pictured just finished a goat dinner. Maybe they phrased it in a way so one might draw the conclusion that the photo is from this actual case and shows the boy having been devoured but nothing in the article actually claims that.

Why am I defending BBC? Heh.
2003-05-09 04:27:12 AM
Eh, true. Makes me want to buy a snake though. Maybe it'll get rid of the annoying pre-pubescent kids and yap-dogs that wake me up during the day.

For CatchrNdRy:

All Riggghht, double jeopardy!

close enough? :p
2003-05-09 04:29:01 AM
i just think that snopes probably had those pictures before the bbc. of course i can't verify that, so i'm sort of overreacting, but i'm not going to stop using the bbc as a source of news because of it just sort of seems that any "wacky" story could use a little search at snopes or some other reputable debunker before it gets put out...*shrug*

2003-05-09 04:35:59 AM
It might be fake but this article amused me.

/Thinks about sending snakes to my neighbors house to eat those kids
2003-05-09 04:37:56 AM
Hey, the pic in the BBC article looks like the one in snopes, the guy who owns that truck must get a lot of people eaten by snake calls.
2003-05-09 04:39:55 AM
Anti_Freak_Machine: You know they'll just end up on a spit...why give them free food? ;)
2003-05-09 04:40:31 AM
ok: the snopes page (with the same picture on it) was last updated in march 2001. that was over two years ago. the BBC article also says "the student who sent the picture in says..." and then gives the story. ergo, the BBC implies that the picture of the snake is the one that goes with the story, when in all actuality, some guy just sent them the pic and the story and they fell for, hook, line, and sinker. you actually think this is real? or sort of real in a round about way? (what the hell does that mean? i give up. it's late.)
2003-05-09 04:40:55 AM
This happened again?

Someone needs to tell these snakes that little kids just aren't good eatin'.
2003-05-09 04:42:00 AM
Oh! I know!

Maybe it was Kentucky Fried Children!

[image from too old to be available]

/one-way to hell, please
2003-05-09 04:43:55 AM
Ok, now it's starting to annoy me that I can't seem to find that photo of the children being eaten by the school snake on the Simpsons. It's a classic scene dammit! Grr.

2003-05-09 04:44:55 AM
I can't believe that they forgot to mention that the boy had a toothbrush up his butt and was missing a kidney.
2003-05-09 04:48:47 AM
DavCar, the save the whole story for the e-mails going around to raise money for this surgery. For ever e-mail that gets forwareded he receiveds $0.01!

BTW who is that gorgeous girl in the SbB link?
2003-05-09 04:55:42 AM
Cola: I racked my brain for search terms too...D'oh!

BTW, I saw your previous response, and I understand where you're coming from.

Maybe we should all just take one of these, and have a good morning...

If she floats, she's a witch, a witch
/monty python (ha, no pun intended..maybe)
2003-05-09 05:01:10 AM
I saw a snake eat a frog one time. So, this could be completely true. 'Cause snakes eat stuff all the time.
2003-05-09 05:05:51 AM
"She's a witch! She's a witch! Build a bridge out of her!"

/holy grail
2003-05-09 05:10:08 AM
Take a girl? I think there are laws against that.
2003-05-09 05:11:55 AM
I hear snakes think children taste like chicken.
2003-05-09 05:12:24 AM
Cynical bunch, aren't we? Constricters are perfectly capable of eating a human being. Why all the hubbub?
2003-05-09 05:14:46 AM
Snopes debunks story about snake eating kid and posts pictures associated with story in 2001.

BBC posts store about snake eating kid and posts one of those pictures from the debunked store and at the very least infers the story is related to that picture.

That's the hubbub, bub.
2003-05-09 05:35:46 AM
In other news... remarkably regular, cylindrical boy dissappears.
2003-05-09 05:36:53 AM
Yes, the content of the article has changed considerably.
2003-05-09 05:38:33 AM
Wow. Apparantly if enough farkers concentrate on something hard enough, it happens! We can contort the fabric of space and time! Muahaha!
