Wil: I was thinking the same thing. But if it is propaganda, its pretty well put together and deserving of an 10 out of 10 for conspiracy Orchestration. Two Thumbs up either way.

Perhaps the meaning of GIS should be put in the FaRQ, for all the Mac users?

2003-05-07 02:14:18 PM
This is great:

"Let me tell you one thing first. War sucks big time. Dont let yourself ever be talked into having one waged in the name of your freedom. Somehow when the bombs start dropping or you hear the sound of machine guns at the end of your street you dont think about your imminent liberation anymore."

heh.

thats a really good blog, actually, very interesting. Probably learned more from that than a month watching fox news.

His comments on the Feydaheen on 17/4 are very good.

2003-05-07 02:14:44 PM
Interesting? Yes. But is it for real? I don't know.

Also I join in with those calling "Feh" on this post.

OK, so what is the goal of this propaganda? Which side do you think writes it, and what do they hope to accomplish?

2003-05-07 02:18:58 PM

Pretty interesting, until I got to where he said he'd volunteer to help the communist party.

Yeah, I'd help the communist party. Help them die screaming in terror and agony, that is! LOL And then laugh like a motherfvcker as I impale their slaver heads on pikes!

It may be redundant but that weblog doesn't look all that real.

2003-05-07 02:31:23 PM
I dont think its propaganda. Its too. . . real.

Propaganda by its nature has an agenda, and this blog is not preaching one. He's not pro saddam or pro bush, not being blatantly critical of one side or the other.

He seems to me like an Iraqi who's been edjucated in the US or lived a long time abroad, his idiomatic english is excellent, use of slang etc and spelling makes him sound like he learned American english (ie, he writes "color" not "colour"). So, if he spent a lot of time here but lives there, it makes sense that he would have a very interesting, non biased opinion on things. You can tell he's Iraqi, but has a western slant on stuff.

He calls the Saddam info minister on his bullshiat, calls his countrymen on theirs re: looting, calls the coalition on theirs... he's pretty fair all round id say.

Doesnt strike me as propaganda at all, its the least biased coverage i've read! :)

Most of the western media i've read has either said basically "the people of iraq are embracing the liberators with open arms, its all puppies and kittens over there" or "the peaceful people of iraq are being crushed under the tank treads of evil american agression".

This guy's calling both sides on their faults, what side is he propaganda for?

2003-05-07 02:31:32 PM
Great stuff. I don't see the propaganda. Is it propaganda because he's pissed at America and American troops for shooting up his neighborhood? Sure, who wouldn't be? He understands the difference between the long term and the short term though. Pretty funny at times too.

2003-05-07 02:32:20 PM
If it was propaganda, it would be slicker, but they probably knew we'd think that so they made it sloppy, but they probably knew we'd realize that so they...

It's not propaganda (betch 5 (five)loonies, Wil, that's nearly 2 (two) bucks US) and I'm glad he's back.

Sometimes there really is a conspiracy, but not nearly as often as the <air_quotes>nuts</air_quotes> think and not now.

Who's it propoganda for, though?

He disses America in there just as much as he does a Saddam-led Iraq.

And at the risk of invalidating my post, you guys really need to educate yourselves in order to get rid of that BS communism = evil stigma. In theory, communism is great, it's just that in practice, there have been 2 major problems: 1)everyone gets lazy, and 2) throughout history, a communist society has only been tried by crazy dictators.

So your perception of equating communism to evil is based on your lack of what communism actually is. Do I think communism is good in theory? Yeah. Do I think it would ever work? Nope. I'm just letting you know communist != evil. And it really shows how uneducated yo uare when you use it like that.

I think you're referring to socialism, and not necessarily communism. Communism, in effect is government controlled everything, where socialism is a more equal division of resources. But stop me if i'm wrong.

And pretty much all these 'isms' fail somewhere. No point in arguing it, although I would agree that too many people have this whole 'commie bad' stigma that doesn't necessarily need to be there.
