Incontinent_dog_and_monkey_rodeo: It's easy to elect a guy who's against spending once the money is all gone. Bush was the disaster, nobody coming after him was going to be able to clean up the mess he left, it was that epic.

So your response to excessive spending is to double down and spend even more at an even faster rate? It's like an alcoholic finally realizing that he has an alcohol problem and deciding to fight it by getting even more drunk more often in the hope that it will go away.

House of Tards: Absolutely. If you can say that followed by a semi-serious plan to actually cut spending below revenues, even better.

The problem is that the tea parties are filled with people saying "Hey everyone, we're broke - It's Barry HITLERSEIN Sombrero's attempt to destroy America".

THIS times infinity. WTF does the guy's name or race have to do with anything? Attack the man's politics, not his skin color. If even one of those retarded signs is allowed at a tea-party rally it serves as a legitimization of that viewpoint by the movement.

You have to show he has some support somewhere. Which you also haven't done. A website is not support. Showing up at a rally and being ask to leave is not support. Showing him on a obscure web site from Russia is not evidence of tea party support either. So where's your evidence that he's a major leader in the tea party movement?

They don't care about spending.

They just don't want Obama doing the spending.

He could cure cancer tomorrow and they'd complain about all the oncologists and morticians he put out of work.

Also, on some fundamentally sub-conscious level what irks so many who are opposed to Obama care, etc, is not the cost but a lot of these folks are aghast at the idea that "the poor" (as though they were some monolithic group) might have access to health care, education, etc.

They like to be able to look down their nose at the less fortunate and this, I think, is a direct result of the "religion" of capitalism that makes it necessary not just to HAVE money or health, etc but to TAKE such thing away from others.

It's a zero-sum game to them and the concept of making money through ingenuity, hard work, thrift, etc has long since been surpassed by the need to make money through outsourcing, layoffs, etc.

It's not enough that they want you to be poor or sick.

They want to have a hand in making sure that you are.

How this hasn't been identified as some sort of DSM IV worthy pathology is astounding as it's likely infected most of the boardrooms in AMerica.

One of the Crasher tactics is to show up with misspelled signs to try to make the tea-partiers look illiterate and that guy appears to be one of those people. How many of those budgets, bills, and the like did he vote down, or lead his party to vote down? And the tax cuts, which have created quite a bit of debt? What about funding of the wars - did he ever try to do that? I guess you must like words without actions.

And as WhyteRaven74 brought up, he's about to lose his seat to these very people who now seem to care about it. It's quite odd to use him as an example. 'Conservatives nominated the guy who cared about spending a lot! And now, those same conservatives are about to kick him out!'

Now if they were the tea-smuggling party, i might be able to get behind that. True patriots merely felt obliged to purchase duty-free where possible, not biatch and moan in public.. Those damned teabaggers should shut the hell up and make me some moonshine, and have one of their number bring it to me in his big-rig along with a couple cartons of cheap smokes. The February 15, 2003 anti-war protest was a coordinated day of protests across the world against the imminent invasion of Iraq. The major difference is not whether or not Tea Party protests are worthwhile, your cup of tea (no pun intended), or racist communes for neo-fascist pinheads.

It's a gathering of people from a demographic most likely to vote in elections. That's all you need to know.

Sigh.

I actually agreed with the Tea Party in principle, but once the GOP stopped treating it like a splinter cell and actually realized "Hey, our voting base is these guys, let's get Fox News to rile them up and we'll pretend we're on their side" and proceeded to hijack the movement, I lost my support for it.

The tea party could have actually been a good vehicle for change in the GOP, but sadly, subversion is a very good tactic to use, and the GOP knows it because they don't want to change.

My grandfather can't understand why I'm a Ron Paul supporter and not a supporter of the Tea Party. The only change possible with the GOP is going to come from kicking nearly everyone in it right now to the curb.

Hopefully in the next two years once alot of people in the Tea Party who go "WOOOOOOOOOO CHANGE! REVOLUTION!" will realize that before the election. The only way Ron Paul will get the nomination is if these people wake up and realize that the GOP is part of the problem and not the solution.

If anything, the Tea Party has shown me that the GOP doesn't give two shiats about America...although probably not in the way they intended.

PsyRat: I love the hate and misconstruing of the tea-party people. My mom is a successful mental-health professional, and takes personal time off to attend a handful of rallies because she's upset at the reckless spending of the government. People she meets there are doctors, businessmen, retirees, mothers, and other such people.

Neil Steinberg acts like an elitist, walking through the rally looking down on the protesters instead of acknowledging them. He repeats incorrect rumors, like claiming past rallies were "excessive". Really? Ask D.C. police, who love the tea-party rallies because they are pretty much peaceful and clean.

But it's much easier to straw-man the movement, hurl insults like "tea-baggers", and dismiss them as red-necks, rather than acknowledge that they're reasonable people with reasonable arguments.

And your mom was SOOO concerned about excessive spending when the War in Iraq was waged off the books, when the government was forbidden to negotiate prescription drug prices for Medicare, when we simply lost $12,000,000,000.00 in farking cash in Iraq, when we paid for everything with no-bid contracts, when Halliburton employees got paid to drive empty trucks back and forth across Iraq, etc, etc.

And by total coincidence, in 2009, she suddenly became *concerned* about excessive spending.

If your concern is about government spending, where were you in 2002 and the never ending (yet ridiculous) war in Iraq?
Please respond.

Where are the protests from the left that we saw during Bushs years? I didnt protest from 2001-2008, nor do i protest now. I do find it odd you dont see the hypocracy in your own question

You, dear friend, are my new asshole.
Seeing as how I feed you nourishment, you spew nothing but shiat.
I did protest Bush's war against Iraq.
I was not alone.
I ACTIVELY (IN THE STREETS) PROTESTED BUSH'S WAR AGAINST IRAQ.
I lost some friends along the way.
I was not alone.
The "Dissent is the greatest form of patriotism" sign was held by me.
You, dear friend, are my asshole.
Thanks.

He is talking about now, now that it is Obama and not Bush. He is assuming liberals no longer protest the wars because there is a Dem president.

Oh. He's really that stupid?
That deserves no response.

/A war ill-gotten is a war ill-waged.

Ask Mr. Alien-pussypants-Robot to enlist and end it.

Gdalescrboz: Really? I havent seen a single protest on my campus in the last year and a half, nor do i see protesters on the corners anymore. Im just saying the hyprocacy is just as strong on the left as it is on the right. The right started when Obama took office and the left stopped when Obama took office, they are all party hacks

If you misspell hypocrisy or comprehension one more time, I will reach through the internet and slap you.

I saw one today alone. They just don't have the press that the teabaggers have.
