leftteffticle: quantum_jellyroll: sherpa18: Hey, QJ, did ya get the frosting out of your hair yet?

Not so much "hair" in the classic sense...
it was mostly in my beard and burley chest hair. ;-)

On another note, I saw on CNN that sllink1 had a birfday Wednesday (the 14th).

oh yeah, i heard that too!! NBC cut in to our regularly scheduled programing with the message.

happy birthday!

i got you a vikings super bowl win. i hope it's the right size.

(tearing up) (sniff) You shouldn't have! It's all I've wanted!! Thank you!

SCA?

Ayup. I was supposed to fence, but forgot the one piece of equipment that's not loaner-able......grr. So I did some heavy pellwork, just to get some exercise in, and played with the random kitties. The hostess feeds the local strays, so they're no longer really "strays", just outdoor barn/stable cats who don't get paid medical attention.

Old business: Belated birthday wishes to QJ! Maybe I should have said ancient business ;) If you are feeling like an old fart, just use my namesake - like this: (your age goes here)0 = 1
Works for all ages!
Also belated congrats to Baka-san for winning the bad-ass contest! I see you were a busy photo poster last week! Go Pogo!

New business: susansto-helit, I think I love you, based on your profile and screen-name.

They will talk about stuff...and I will just go... "huh?"

Drasher: my condolences for your loss of Mr. Hobbes. He sounds like a great kitty! Just be thankful for the time you had together, and that you were able to extend the greatest kindness of all to him at the end. I believe we will all be re-united with our loved ones in the way-station to our next lives; four-legged as well as two-legged.

{hugs}

Ya see, Bill Watterson thought he was the elusive source of the Hobbes element...but as you have discovered, Hobbes does conform to the laws of thermodynamics, which states "Hobbes can never be destroyed or created; Hobbes merely changes form."

Consider yourself exceptionally blessed...you saw, not a fireball lighting the heavens for a brief second, but something much more miraculous...you actually possessed the elusive element, Hobbes.

If you hang around Caturday for any length of time, you will discover, though, that the element Hobbes presents in many isotopic forms, e.g. Hobbes-lets, Ol' Hobbes, and even anti-Hobbes. You can also spot Hobbes compounded with other elements like Butterfly, Sunshine, Velvet and Purr.

Scroll up a bit and see those jet black furballs born under a bed to a "spayed" shelter cat? I suspect I know what happened here...transmogrification!!

The law of conservation of Hobbes.

Here's a touching story sent to me by a friend:

A man and his dog were walking along a road.

The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.

He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years.

He wondered where the road was leading them.

After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road.

It looked like fine marble...

At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.

When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold.

He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.

When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'

'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.. 'Wow! Would you happen to have some water?'the man asked.

Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up.

'The man gestured, and the gate began to open.

'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveler asked.

'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'

The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.

After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence.
As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?
'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in.'
'How about my friend here?' the traveler gestured to the dog.
'There should be a bowl by the pump.'
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.
The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.

'What do you call this place?' the traveler asked.

'This is Heaven,' he answered.

'Well, that's confusing,' the traveler said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'

'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.'

'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'

'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.'

Then the email goes on to try to guilt-trip me for not forwarding more emails to all my friends, but I still liked the story.

As all Caturday threads should. (at least IMHO). BTW, thank you for the awesome portrait of Dragon - I did not get back in time to thank you last week. (re-posted below)
My pleasure! If I had any PS skills, I would have put that on the wall of the original picture.
For my own amusement, I think I'm going to put Dragon on the 'large organ' in my profile. If that's O.K. with you.

Absolutely, feel free. After all, Dragon is an AW from way back.
