Brock had been appointed mayor 16 months ago when the previous mayor died.

That sounds like a dangerous job - no, thanks!

Well, we'd have to start somewhere. A mayor is one step toward President.

Want to bet that city council reappoints the dumb broad who's campaign couldn't defeat a deadman?

Well to their credit, they did elect a man who will never lie to them, never take bribes from shady developers, never waste the taxpayer's money...

She got the job because of the passing of the previous mayor. And then when she was up for re-election, her opponent died.

Do not mess with Barbara Brock. I fear for the 268 people who voted against her.

I was waiting in line at my polling place for that election, and there were a bunch of his supporters wearing "I'm still with Mel" pins that someone had put together. I kept thinking to myself, "Is that really where you want to be?"

Seconded.
(It's even a convenient shape for a tag.)

While I've reconsidered my decision to "Vote for Ted until I'm dead", I did write in Edward M. Kennedy for the Dem special primary on Dec. 8th last year. I figured ol' Teddy's bones would make a better candidate than the woman who got trounced by Scott Brown.

I've lived in Tennessee for over 30 years, and about 45 minutes to the north of Tracy City for the past 24 years. Let's just say that in Tracy City, they're a little ... different.

Now in Memphis, they don't have a problem with dead elected officials, but they have had problems with dead people voting.

If somewhere in Tennessee they have dead people voting for dead candidates, THEN I'll have to accept that there should be a Tennessee tag.

2010-04-15 03:24:46 PM
I have no clue what that incumbent's record was, but I'd just like to say that this result is just as likely to suggest that people in general suck as it is to suggest that this particular mayor sucked.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the newly elected incumbent may- Oh I'm sorry, the newly elected RECUMBENT mayor of Tracy City, Carl Robin Geary! Give it up for the dead guy!

2010-04-15 04:42:13 PM
If you're dead, you can't say something stupid. So, for Tenn., that's a pretty big improvement.

2010-04-15 05:03:21 PM
Barbara Bush ??? I would elect a dead man

2010-04-15 06:26:36 PM
NOT John Ashcroft, you dumbposter.

Mel Carnahan.

The voters of her city, when faced with that choice, in that voting booth, said "Do I go with the current mayor, or the rotting maggot-infested corpse? Gotta go with the corpse..."
