Well. I happen to work in one of Mr. Buffet's shoe factories, and not three days ago I was cobbling together a pair of those seal-skin loafers he just looooves to wear, and he comes up to me with his buddy Charlie Munger and that asshat Bill Gates he's always chumming around with--and of course he's carrying that big mug of mocha latte he's always sipping on and leaving in the kitchen sink so others have to clean it--and he kind of gives 'em a sly look and he says to me, he says "Waldy,"--he always calls me Waldy just because he knows I hate it--"Waldy," he says, "How much do you make a year?" And I look up from seaming together his precious f*cking shoes, and I say, "Why, Mr. Buffet, sir, you know what I make. I make three-dollar and seventy-three cent an hour, just like you pays me." And he turns to his buddies and smles and looks back at me and shouts, all gleeful, "THREE DOLLARS AN SEVENTY THREE CENTS! I MAKE A BILLION TRILLION TIMES MORE THAN YOU!!!" And then, just like always, he just laughs and throws his mocha latte right in my face.

Yeah, Warren Buffet. He's a real f*cking prince.

Buffet is just jealous of rich people. Damn communist pinko scum!

I'm printing up articles right now at work (financial AM radio station), and the two articles on top of the pile are oddly paradoxical:

"Buffet to Report Best Ever Profit" (May 3, Reuters)
"Buffet Renews Call Against Executive Greed" (May 5, FT.com)

2003-05-05 03:14:04 PM
I have yet to see any proven theory on how to create a better economy. Thus every plan is stupid because it is just guesswork.

2003-05-05 03:42:17 PM
Why do performing artists comment on topics that they can't understand. What these asshats fail to realize is that rich people are what drive the economy.

But poor wittle Buffets awbums auwnt selling so he has to cwy like a wittle baby. Waaaa! I hate the wich...

what's that you say? Warren, not jimmy.

Nevermind.

And he says this on a British website? Hmmm...

2003-05-05 06:00:07 PM
"The second richest man in the world, Mr Buffett, known as the Sage of Omaha, criticised plans for tax cuts that he said were designed to fleece the poor and reward the rich."

How does one fleece poor people? By definition they have little or no money.

2003-05-05 06:00:10 PM
Warren and Jimmy are cousins? He needs to rename that song "Cocksucker in Paradise"

2003-05-05 06:00:20 PM
Ummm.... the rich get richer.

And why doesn't this have a hero tag?? This guy need to run for president!

2003-05-05 06:02:02 PM
Warren Buffett?? Man, I love the dinners he came up with. Especially how you can get whatever you want, and they always have the soft serve ice cream at the end of the table.

-->Didn't get to comment in the Apple thread about Afghanwhiggle (Getting/Not getting) laid even though I read through most of that discussion (read:flamewar) so this is the best I could come up with on short notice. Damn. I'm lame. I should go home.

2003-05-05 06:04:24 PM
Lando -- Er, what paradox? I think Buffet's criticizing executives that wrangle excessive compensation from overly friendly boards, not executives driven to make their company more wealthy, powerful, et al.

good headline.
can someone lend me $72,800 so I can buy ONE of his Berkshire Hathaway 'A' shares?
I refuse to slum for the 'B' shares (only $2,500 per share)

Jimmy Buffet owns, Bush is still our president *cough*. We need a tax break for the super poor, and tax the shiat out of the super rich. That way, I can still afford my tuition, drugs, and video games and those rich punks can stop crashing their ferraris.

*Over-educated middle class punk*

2003-05-05 06:08:47 PM
Isn't it time for a stock split? $72,800 is a little steep for one share of stock. That's twice the cost of Buffett's Omaha house.

Modern Republican Economic Theory:

When the economy is rockin', that's when you cut taxes cuz you're pulling in so much revenue.

When the economy is suckin', that's when you cut taxes cuz you gotta get the economy rockin again.

Which means you need to cut taxes down to nothing. No worries.

Warren Buffett's got my vote for prez. He's probably the only large executive I truly trust. And smart enough to see things for what they are. I mean, this guy made tons of cash during the dot com bubble burst by ignoring dot-coms all together. I'm sure someone will correct me, but I believe he was investing in Pork bellies at the time.

2003-05-05 06:09:50 PM
I am looking foreward to how the Neo-Con rank and file are going to discredit Buffets assertions.

To hell with it...come 2004 elections, I'm writing in Warren Buffett for prez, with Jimmy Buffett as vice prez. I can't think of a better way to run this country.

Buffett & Buffett 2004!

TyroneSlothrop - I am looking foreward to how the Neo-Con rank and file are going to discredit Buffets assertions.

And just why would wholesome, Christian, Republican-Americans feel the need to even respond to, much less discredit an anti-American, red-in-the-bone, communist queer like Warren Buffett?

Its nice to see some people who are 4x smart as Bush speaking out on his idiotic recovery plan. Reduce the farking deficit! Bush is more of a democrat than Clinton, he just wants all the big government programs to go to the Defense industry instead of services for the poor. Reducing taxes for the rich or anyone is not going to fix the problem just compound it. Anyone who suggests otherwise should stop watching foxnews as their sole media source.

2003-05-05 06:17:16 PM
God damn that would be cool. Oh wait, that'll never happen because both parties are assholes.

2003-05-05 06:17:52 PM
Oddly enough, there is no mention of Buffett's statement on Foxnews.com

Blacksmithking -- It might be considered fleecing if the poor were convinced, via deceptions and misrepresentations, that they would benefit much more than they really would from a tax cut. The administration's already played certain games with misleading statistics with regards to taxes. For instance, an "average" taxpayer won't necessarily get the mean benefit if benefits are heavily skewed towards the wealthy. In addition, statements regarding who pays what proportion of taxes generally focus on income taxes and ignore soc-sec taxes, along with state sales taxes. Both soc-sec and sales taxes are generally regressive, if memory serves.

2003-05-05 06:20:14 PM
Asv: Bush is more of a democrat than Clinton

The problem is he's becoming the worst of both parties. Tries to appeal to Republicans with tax cuts, while trying to build a larger military (read: government).

It doesn't work both ways. Something's got to give.

I'm all for tax cuts of any kind... but tax cuts means government has to be cut, and that includes the military (which I have no problem with, either).

2003-05-05 06:21:11 PM
Orb_nsc Buffet says he will never split the stock. That way only serious investors will get on board with BH.

2003-05-05 06:25:27 PM
He's right. The shareholders have to demand action, not stupid unwashed protestors.

2003-05-05 06:26:39 PM
How exactly do you give the poor a tax cut in Washington? They aren't taxed by the federal government. States get'em with their sales tax.

2003-05-05 06:29:25 PM
Impaler we all know anyone making under $60,000 is "poor"...and they get taxed like crazy.

Oh, you mean most people in this country would be ecstatic to make $60,000? Well why didn't they ask their father to use his influence to get them an executive position in a Fortune 500 country then?

I have been waiting for this to show up on fark. While I agree with him, I still beleive it is only a theory as all economics basically is. If it were a science, then we would have a "cure" for an ailing economy and fix it right up. We do now some things are good, but that doesn't make the inverse good either (Hoover raised taxes at the beginning of the Depression and tightened the money supply, both of which are the poster children of what NOT to do in an economic downturn, but it doesn't mean that lowering taxes and loosening the moeny supply will fix it as well). Buffet has a great line about the only way to cut taxes is to cut government spending. I agree. Bush seems to be on a little bit of a military spending spree and still wants to cut taxes. If we tried that in WWII, we would have been farked. Any conservative takers on an economic debate?

2003-05-05 06:30:09 PM
Fortune 500 company even.

The top 500 companies would be a bit too inclusive.
