Surprise.

In other news players are given awards for being portraits of morality and role models...

It's a good thing everyone is so damned perfect these days. I wonder how many skeletons the average person has sitting undiscovered in their closets.

2003-05-05 11:50:19 AM
Alabama fans will still tell you that they have the premiere football program in the country.

They have delusions of grandeur in 'Bama.

Excuse the guy for being human.

2003-05-05 11:51:58 AM
Fark. Yesterday's news tomorrow. Next we'll be reading about some hiker who had to amputate his own arm.

2003-05-05 11:52:45 AM
If the guy is too stupid not to use cash for his hookers/strippers then he deserves it. Expense accounts 101 dumbass... learn how to pad them properly.

2003-05-05 11:54:16 AM
Best part of the whole ordeal:

The girl with his room key and credit card called room service and ordered one of everything, to go.

Words that can't go together: "room service" and "to go"

2003-05-05 11:55:15 AM
Wow - here's a strongly negative spin.

2003-05-05 11:55:23 AM
why not Peetah the main question is does she want you to pin the tail on her honey pot or give her the full on Winnie the Poo..

Back to the subject - leaving a stripper in your hotel room when you are out when you have a family is not a good idea and not a good way to keep a job. It's not about morality it's not about other people's skeletons - it's about a public figure making an asshat of themselves publicly and like it or not the Head Football coach is the most visible public figure of a University.

Alabama has gotten into so much trouble recently they need to be very proactive in their policy and what they did is justified..

2003-05-05 11:55:55 AM
Diogenes -- I don't keep my skeletons in the closet anyway. That's why I bought a house with so much crawl space.

Did I or did I not see the lineman who made headlines a couple of weeks ago for his decision not to be on the Playboy All-American team standing up at a press conference defending the guy?

So boobies are not okay if they're in the same magazine as a picture of you, but they ARE okay if your coach looks at them.

I don't have a problem with Playboy OR strip clubs, just the apparent dichotomy of the lineman's positions.

Message to Alabama football fans:

The Price is wrong, biatch.

2003-05-05 11:57:53 AM
Mr. Price, welcome to the bible belt my friend. You could have gotten away with that heathonistic(sp?)crap in the Northwest but not down here.

/got nathan

2003-05-05 12:00:48 PM
man, why on earth did he go to the scummy strip club that he did? i happened to go to one of the nicer strip clubs in pensacola that night, and there were a ton of people there for the golf tournament. that would have been pretty biatchin to be getting a face full of titties next to mike price on the night that would seal his fate at bama.

2003-05-05 12:01:54 PM
What dichotomy? The lineman didn't feel that appearing in Playboy would go with his religious beliefs, he didn't say that Playboy should be banned and Heff imprisoned. The lineman in my opinion is exercising the proper degree of religion, he won't appear in Playboy but he also doesn't demand others follow his convictions. His position is no more a dichotomy than my not wanting to have some gay sex but at the same time standing up for the rights of my friend who does.

i cant link it, but go to
finebaum.com to see a picture of the stripper (safe for work)

oh, for those who are interested, here's some local news coverage of the incident. it includes shots of the club in question and interviews with employees.

2003-05-05 12:04:16 PM

I'm an Auburn fan, but have been watching the whole saga w/ Mike Price unfold. There is so much SPECULATION going on. Even the president of the university said that to their knowledge he didn't do anything illegal. It was just immoral behavior. (thats what you get for working in the heart of the bible belt) It was a stupid decision, the Alabama football program was benfitted in so many ways by Price being on staff.

I also think that it's laughable that athletic directoe Mal Moore and the President of the university are flying out looking (begging) for coaches right now.

2003-05-05 12:05:30 PM
For those of you who are writing that Price needs another chance or that "no one is perfect" you do not know the whole story. Yes most of the players and the Board of Trustees wanted to keep him, but Price was warned BEFORE the stripper incident in Pensacola. Our AD brought him in to his office to talk with him about public perception and buying alchol for underage students and then he went to Pensacola and did that. He knew what he was getting in to when he took this job. The head coach at Alabama is the most famous person in the state and with that comes scrutiny. If you can't handle it don't take the farking job.

Yeah, we all know how immoral Wesley Britt (the lineman's name) was being by forgiving his coach of a mistake he had made. Man, he must have been a real ass.

"I also think that it's laughable that athletic directoe Mal Moore and the President of the university are flying out looking (begging) for coaches right now."

Since you are from the barn how about keeping your mouth shut about things that you do not know. Moore and Witt are interviewing candidates. No one has been offered the job yet, asshat. Every member of the current staff (except the Price's is staying). Ever coach that has been interviewed has said that they would accept the head coaching job. Doesn't sound like they are begging to me. Oh and Mooooooooooooooooooo Allbarn Mooooooooooooooooo

2003-05-05 12:24:04 PM
Petie123: Thanks for the sarcasm tag. I wouldn't have known otherwise.

Okay, I'm wrong.

2003-05-05 12:24:47 PM
BamaTide is feeling a little defensive today.

I'm not just talking about the farker, either.

2003-05-05 12:26:18 PM
I too am an Auburn fan and I really believe that Alabama did the right thing. I was initially for Price but after thinking about it, the President made the right call for several reasons.

- In Price's statement after the firing, he bashed the President for not giving him a 2nd chance. It's common knowledge that Price had been called in 2 previous times about his drinking around campus.

- Again, in his bashing of the Pres afterwards, he was talking about how the University was a place of learning and how he wasn't able to learn from his mistakes. That's bullshiat, Price is a teacher and what he was teaching the players with his actions was wrong.

- Do you think for a second that other SEC schools are going to show up at a recruit's house in the bible belt and NOT ask their mother if they want their son playing for a married man who goes to titty bars and wakes up with women he doesn't remember going to sleep with.

Alabama has been out of control lately and the new President came in and put his foot down. That's a good sign as Bryant Jr, just like Lowder, runs that place. Good to see someone trying establish some order and take them in the right direction. They're on probation so there's nothing worth saving this year, and the scholarship limits will kill whomever would be there in the next few years. Alabama will be able to recruit players now and maybe, just maybe get an honest coach. You just don't go to a shiatty titty club (there was one 2 blocks from his hotel), throw down for hours worth of personal dances and then tell everyone that it was a 1 time mistake. The only mistake Price made was being caught. He showed his true colors at the press conference.

The whole episode is hilarious because rednecks invest so much of themselves into this shiat. It's like a freaking religion to them. My only wish it that it had happened to the University of Tennessee instead 'Bama. The fans of both schools are hillbillies/mouthbreathers but Alabama was already down and out before this.

I am very defensive today. We have been kicked more than any school in NCAA history (SMU may be the exception). We have hired three crappy coaches who can't keep their farking zippers up and one who was a liar. Now the President was in a damned if you do situation and people are kicking us again. Some of the crap that we have gone through we deserved some we didn't. Then you get these farking Allbarn fans (Wippuh excluded) who have no clue what is going on trashing Alabama when they have a football team that is going to be a top ten team this year and all they want to do is talk about Alabama. So yes I am very defensive today.

2003-05-05 12:46:23 PM
He should have signed that contract - likely would have made it more difficult to fire him for something he did on his own time with his own money.

2003-05-05 12:50:28 PM
BamaTide-

You guys just need to get comfortable with the fact that the head coaching job at Alabama is not the marquee job that it was 10-15 years ago. Face the new reality that you are a school at a level that loses it coaches to Texas A&M and then can only get interest from an assclown like Price. 10 years ago Bama wouldnt have give him the time of day now they are lucky to get him.

Turn the page, its over. At least you still have basketball.

2003-05-05 12:54:41 PM
Hehe, it is pretty funny that Auburn is preseason #2, but we wouldn't be there if Ohio State hadn't have won it all last year. Auburn fans are quiet because we're all scared to death it's gonna fall apart like it always has when we're ranked high. Brown and Williams are gonna tear some shiat up though. Auburn's offense looks positively scary if the qb comes through even halfway. The defense speaks for itself.

Man, I bet if he signed that contract he still would have been gone. After Dubose, Alabama probably incorporates a morality clause in bold type. For $10 mill over 7 years, with no expectations really, I think I could have been a good guy.

If I was an Alabama fan I would be tapping the lines between Tallahassee and Tuscaloosa and making sure that Brodie (my Mom called, she wants her bowl and scissors back) isn't making any calls to Bowden.

Oh I know it is not the job that it once was. But we still will get a quality coach. Interest has already been expressed by Tom Coughlin, Mike Shula, the guy at Pitt, Dennis Green and others. I just don't like Bama getting kicked for what Price did. It was not the University's fault.

2003-05-05 12:56:36 PM
WAR EAGLE, this guy is an idiot..you can't act like that when you're a public figure...especially one who has to recruit players to come to your school. I would never send my kid to play for him with that type of reputation.

2003-05-05 12:59:41 PM
Alabama's basketball program is bad. Gottfried gets guys who go in the lottery, but he can't coach them worth a shiat. He's just a good pr man who can get excellent players. How they could get outperformed by Auburn this year still baffles my mind.

2003-05-05 12:59:52 PM
Having the contract signed wouldn't have done jack. There was a clause about how he could be fired if he did anything to embarrass the University.

As others (even Auburn fans) have pointed out, this was not the first time that Price had been warned about his behavior, thus that whole shpiel about "second chances" really should have been about "fourth chances" - he blew chance after chance.

No, the Bama coaching position isn't what it was 10-15 years ago, I have no dellusions. I was happy with Price, but I'm also happy someone at 'Bama finally put their foot down and didn't bend to the Old Boys' network that is so heavily inbred at the school.

I just want to watch football, but the damn Administration keeps screwing shiat up for me.

Room Service for Stripper: $1,000

Mike Price getting the boot for doing what any red blooded American man would: Priceless.

Can't take claim for this. Saw it in an e-mail yesterday. Appropriate though...

Plus I'm a Duck and we lost big to them this year so I don't mind piling on a little.

Anyone taking odds on what NFL team he'll land on?

wooo hooo! my Boobies!!!!

2003-05-05 01:17:58 PM
I'll dig that poll up. My friend who is an Alabama alum told me about it this weekend.

Suckerpunch. Harrick who? Nice story about that freshmen changing his plates too.

2003-05-05 01:26:35 PM
Wippuh, I saw one a while back in some Austin, TX newspaper that had a fairly long article about Auburn, and had them at preseason #1. I thought they were right on with most of their reasoning, except that they gave Jason Campbell a little to much credit based on his past performances...I'm hoping he'll step up and run the offense like he started to at the end of last season...so much potential in that guy.

The man is poopeepoo-poo.

Long live football.

Probably the San Fransisco.

Should've gone to SAMMY'S!

I know a lot of gators that wish the Zooker would pull a stunt like this so they could fire him now.

2003-05-05 01:44:23 PM
this is bullshiat

2003-05-05 01:53:10 PM
