It's OK. It's going green on Fark. That means it's not news again.

2010-04-10 11:43:48 PM
He ordered it with no onions!!! The man is an incorrigible commie!!!

2010-04-10 11:45:00 PM
Having eaten at both, I prefer Pat's to Geno's. While Geno's slices their meat a bit thicker, which I like, Pat's bread is thinner, so you taste the meat more.

Is Cheese Whiz really good on a cheesesteak? It sounds awful to me, but I've never had one.

Another classic Biden gaffe!

I said it before, why do people have a problem with Biden?

The same people who complain Obama is just a good talker, complain that Biden isn't one. Wtf, get some consistency.

2010-04-11 12:27:26 AM
It's a big farking deal.

2010-04-11 12:35:41 AM
Yeah, in south Philly it's a big deal.

Pat's! Wiz wit for me please.

It's a classic blunder, right after getting involved in a land war in Asia: don't eat cheesesteak in Philly.

Unless death is on the line, and the alternative is going up against the Sicilian.

You know, the only time in my life I was in Philadelphia, I had some good food several days running and never once did I even think about some nasty sandwich drenched in meat and cheese.

Although it's probably not as bad as an Italian Beef. Don't farking dip my entire sandwich in au jus, OK? I don't like soggy bread.

2010-04-11 01:09:58 AM
At his age, Biden should be more careful about what he eats.

2010-04-11 01:26:22 AM
Couple of years ago I was at the meat department on or about St. Patrick's Day. But there was almost no meat. The butcher was fiddling around trying to make it look like there was meat available. It was like a pack of lions went through there. There was a tray of oldish rib-eyes. I did not know what to do. The butcher said, "I could slice those up into philly steak slices, if you want." That woman is a genius.

John Kerry ruined it for all politicians when he tried to order "wit swiss." Sadly, I'm not joking.

I had a couple of cheesesteaks in Philly and honestly, I've had better in Oklahoma.

Often, the bread isn't very good. On almost all sandwiches. Dry and starchy. Hence the au jus. And the bacon has to be fresh and juicy. You have to have that delicious bacon fat curling off the bun.

oldebayer: It's a classic blunder, right after getting involved in a land war in Asia: don't eat cheesesteak in Philly.

Why not? It's a local delicacy, like haggis in Scotland and Chicago-style pizza in Chicago.

A sandwich "drenched in meat?" THE HORROR. Who in God's name puts meat on a sandwich?!

I am actually enjoying the attempts that this administration is at popping out of the "bubble" that the White House and VP residency create. I do not recall many attempts from Darth Cheney to emerge from the secret bunker to mingle with the "little people".

Racht: Is Cheese Whiz really good on a cheesesteak? It sounds awful to me, but I've never had one.

It is. Get them with real cheese, not fake crap. Cheddar or Swiss for beef, go with swiss or pepperjack for chicken.

And for god's sake, get all of the damn veggies.

It's news because Biden managed to put something other than his foot into his mouth.

As to cheesesteaks, I prefer it with onions and extra American. Whiz is alright, but it depends upon my mood. Really, just order what you like.

Agreed. Provolone tends to get a bit rubbery tho if you don't shovel it down fast enough.

I've also had a 4 cheese cheesesteak that probably shaved a good 6 months off my life.

Racht: Is Cheese Whiz really good on a cheesesteak?

Depends on how drunk you are.

Provi.. Whiz... Wit is a good mix if you're plastered.

Of course if you are sober, I'd avoid both Pats' and Geno's. There are much better steaks to be had all over the city.

I like my steak chopped up and American cheese mixed in, with some nice caramelized onions on a big fresh Amoroso roll.

2010-04-11 09:02:45 AM
I've had steaks in Philly, and had some good ones at that. But I'm in Pittsburgh now, and I gotta say Southside Steaks makes a mean 'wich. I've had it Whiz Wit there (note: they don't call it that. It's a shame, too). Also had it with American.

I like cheesesteaks, mostly.

Pat's is a tourist trap (Geno's too). You want to hit Chink's on Torresdale Ave in the NE for a real Philly cheese steak.

/Wissinoming, represent!

2010-04-11 09:31:24 AM
Well, shiat! Pat's and Geno's are literally three blocks from my house. If I hadn't been working yesterday, I could have gone up and tried to annoy smiling Joe Biden!

Yes, Cheez Whiz is traditional. Yes, Pat's & Geno's are for tourists and there are much better cheesesteaks to be had in the Philly area (Tony Luke's for one, and there's another place that's even better but it's a local secret).

Damnit, now I want a cheesesteak for breakfast.

(1) He went to Pat's. Win. Geno is a racist asshat.
(2) He ordered in the proper manner. WIN. But he picked a laughable combination. No onions or peppers? FAIL
(3) Are those some peppers taken from the sides bar I see on his paper towel? A little redemption.
(4) At least he didn't pull a Kerry and ask for Swiss.

So congrats Mr. Biden on eating lunch. This is a big farking deal.

how quickly you forget Cheney's yearly graduation speech at public elementary schools, after which he would choose one lucky child to eat.

I was born in Philly.

Truth be told, one of the best I can find these days near me in another parto f the country is ... from IHOP. FFS drop the mayo, though. And it's a different experience with onion rings dipped in Cholula.
