(Some Sammy Hagar fan)   What's David Lee Roth up to lately? Y'know, just writing songs, relaxing, cornering would-be robbers with a shotgun in the middle of the night   ( ) divider line 95

ROTH: "Anyone found bearing arms here at nightwill be found here in the morning."

Google search for +"here at night" +"here in the morning"
= 69 results of places selling bumper stickers with that clever little phrase.

I just want to point out that the source of the link says "Some Sammy Hagar Fan."

Stompn Tom

Apparently, David Lee Roth was once asked by an interviewer what it was like being David Lee Roth.

He said, take every women you've ever had sex with in your life, and line em up. I wouln't fark any of em!
2003-05-01 11:31:11 PM
Serves him right for intruding on the "Everybody Wants Some" solo
2003-05-01 11:36:40 PM
Damn, I know time respects no man, but what the hell happened to this guy? Reminds me of that lion-taming dude in Vegas.

See kids, drugs won't kill you. They just makes you look like you died several years back.

Ref: Keith Richards, Bob Dylan.

Actually, Dylan got better after he finished off most of his brain cells. Sadly, Mr. Roth didn't.
2003-05-01 11:43:17 PM
Ref: Keith Richards, Bob Dylan.

Yeah, but Richards and Dylan are both near - or past - 60 years old. Roth is...what? 45 maybe? Scary.
2003-05-01 11:45:57 PM
Flaming_Torso He looks a little like Sting in that photo.
2003-05-01 11:47:17 PM

See what we have to look forward to! Imagine Bob Dylan in tight-fitting spandex, covered in sweat and with no shirt on.

ya know, i'm not a big Van Halen fan or Roth fan, but together they made some pretty decent songs. I could never understand how anyone could like Sammy Hagar.
2003-05-01 11:59:02 PM

This wouldn't be so horrifying if Van Halen weren't gods to me when I was 13. I'm closer than ever to empathizing with Townshend and Neil Young. At least Robert Plant had the good sense to abandon the second-skin denim bellbottoms for regular old-guy-rocker Chinos...with pleats yet!

And Nouveau_vache, you're right. But I'm immensely comforted by the fact that Sting keeps his shirt on most of the time, these days. Yeah, Sting's aging too. Inevitable. Somehow, though, it's not so damn dismaying to see Mr. Sumner...I think ElVee's onto something. Yep, it's that blasted Spandex. Why do these old rockers continue to labor under the illusion they're still poster-boy cock-rockers?

2003-05-02 12:01:11 AM
my favorite sammy hagar lyric:

"Only time will tell if we stand the test of time"

... beautiful and simple in its idiocy ...
2003-05-02 12:02:16 AM
Nouveau_vache: Almost uncanny. But at least Sting's hangin' with his daughter and not prancing around with his schlong bursting out of that sad, circa-1980 getup.

(I hope that's his daughter.)
2003-05-02 12:09:51 AM
Wil: Was that from an old David Lee Roth video? I remember it from MTV...I think.

It's all so sad.

I'll be counting the hours until I can buy ol' Dave's new CD of farking cover songs.
2003-05-02 12:15:16 AM
yeah but you don't have david lee roth dropping hints about how he can screw for hours on end using some sort of tantric witchcraft.
2003-05-02 12:17:15 AM
It's all a publicity stunt to promote his new CD since, face it, nobody cares. Even in his suckiest, I'm sure he still gets plenty o' boobies and all that nice stuff.

The original gigolo...

2003-05-02 12:19:18 AM

Yeah, I grew up on Van Halen, too. I still have the original "Van Halen" (complete with Turtle's sticker) on 8-track somewhere in the attic. (Jeez, I guess I'm dating myself here.)

My 12-year-old is learning to play the guitar and has "discovered" Van Halen. I'm so farking tired of listening to "Eruption" over and over. Eddie is good and all that, but he wears on you after the 3rd replay of the morning on the way to school. Thank God for hate radio. I need something to clear my head after all that jangly noise kids listen to.

Funny, I just dug out my old Sammy Hagar cd from 1999 (the one with Mas Tequila on it).

What the world needs now are more Sammy Hagars. That's what rock and roll IS. Pure rock with a good singer, three chords, and great solos.
2003-05-02 12:22:39 AM
Personally I dug the Hagar Van Halen much more than the Roth Van Halen, not that I really dug Van Halen much anyway. I was too into the whole new wave thing at that time.

And, you beat me to it Stompn_Tom. First time I saw that pic I nearly died laughing.

Sting was cool in my book till he started writing shiatty songs for Disney...then again he does have a HUGE mortgage on that castle.
2003-05-02 12:23:22 AM
He'll release a new album called Diamond Dave on July 8. It features Roth doing his own material, as well as covering artists such as the Beatles, the Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Steve Miller, Savoy Brown, and Van Halen.

Let's see what covers might sound good here...Beatles: no. Doors: no. Hendrix: hell no. Steve Miller: nope. Savoy Brown: who?

And cover Van Halen? Does that even count? It's like Peter Cetera covering Chicago.
2003-05-02 12:26:50 AM
He said, take every women you've ever had sex with in your life, and line em up. I wouln't fark any of em!

Why do I find that oddly reassuring, somehow?
2003-05-02 12:31:00 AM
oh, please. hagar was pathetic at best. they used to say the differences between roth and hagar were like the differences between sex and love. i hope not, because that would seem to imply that love is undertalented and overblown. i always figured that sex was immature, foolish, loud and sticky, and i was fine with that.

dave was an act, and a corny one, but he knew it, and knew exactly how it would play. you kind of have to respect that.

hagar's best moment: three lock box
roth's best moment: runnin' with the devil
2003-05-02 12:32:46 AM
ElVee: I'm so farking tired of listening to "Eruption" over and over.

Your son can actually play "Eruption"? Or is he listening to it repeatedly? Impressive!
2003-05-02 12:36:43 AM
STRYPERSWINE: What the world needs now are more Sammy Hagars.

That statement is just wrong on so many levels.
