Question:

If we laugh at Bush hitting his head, does that mean we're not supporting the troops? Could anyone give me a quick estimate of how many soldiers would be put in harm's way by, say, a quick giggle?

Tunico, notice that when clinton was in office a lot of republicans said it wasn't because of him that the economy was doing well?

Ummm... yeah!

H8red:

So by your thoughts, if the left doesn't believe in IQ and SATs, the right does (God forbid we agree). If that is true, you beleive that Bush's SAT scores are representative of his intellect? Is this the case? If so, it looks like you just called Bush an idiot. Or as you say Fvckin Waaa...or something equally juvenille.

i'm sure terror attacks would be at the lowest ever if we just gave away all our rights, and let the men in charge take care of us.

at least, that's what bill o'rielly seems to believe...it's not like people actually listen to that guy.

i don't think it was clinton's blowjob as much as lying to the american public and under oath before congress which is a felony. i think that would be the republican argument not the blowjob itself.

Yep. Today there are not 19 Al Quaeda murderers plotting to fly planes into our buildings. Hate Bush all you like, but blame Clinton's administration for piss-poor intelligence work.

Terrorism is down. My taxes are less. The economy is recovering. New environmental protection laws go into effective all the time (that's true. i work in a state legislature and i see it).

I'm doing fine. How about you?

It wasn't photoshopped. And W had to be pointed in the direction of NKorea.

Defense and national security are in the crapper and gonna get worse since Bush decided to butt rape every military man when he cut 25 BILLION in benefits including health care and education for military and their families.

But he can just turn around and hand that off to his rich friends right?

ACF:

He just piloted jet planes for years, graduated from Yale, became a governor, president.

Honest question here - I thought he never really did finish his training on jets - rode in them sure, but piloted solo? Does anyone know the answer (not opinion) to this?

In other news.....it is funny when someone hits their head, even more so when it is a person of authority, and even MORE so when it is the President. Just ask Chevy Chase - he wouldn't have a career if not for Gerald Ford

He'll have to do better than that if he want to one up Gerald Ford.

"No Child Left Behind" ?!? LOL. What a crock of shiat. You DO realize that after he made that wonderful bill into law he budget cut 20% from Education, right?

You don't know any teachers, do you? I do. My wife is one; a media specialist (librarian) to be exact. And you know what? She had her budget cut last year and this.... to 0.

That's right. $0. The school she teaches in has (because of the federal education budget) has had their budget cut every year for 2 years now. This past time it was $97,000. They had to fired all of the assistants and cut the entire library budget to 0.

Congrats, you played directly into his Spin farm. He hasn't helped education, he's cut it.

Etihod: I'd like you to know that the Ivy League is not as accepting of alumni children as people make it out to be. My parents both went to the same Ivy League school. I had higher on my SATs than the President and I had descent grades in difficult classes at a very good high school. I still did not get in. I ended up going to a non-Ivy, but still good school. I'm not bitter, but I get very pissed off when I see people biatching how easy it is for alumni children o get into Ivy League schoold. Of all my parent's friends from college, only 3 out of 20 children have gotten into the school (one being my brother), and the ones who didn't get in were not stupid, just not qualified for that school. My brother was validictorian of his class, he deserved to get in anyway.

So, please, for the love of God, stop biatching about alumni children and the admissions process.

In Bush's case, I think it was the fact that his father was politcally connected that helped him get in. In any case, the more power to him, my parents still wish I had been a better athlete so I could have gotten a boost to go to their Alma Mater. You use what you have to get into the school you want to go to.

His approval ratings were DISMAL before 9/11.

51% is not good, but it's not dismal

And he had more protesters at his innauguration parade (which was drenched by rain) than supporters.

Big farkin' deal. They were protesting because of how the election went. People with jobs (ie moderate democrats, republicans and independants) don't have the spare time to go out and protest every time something upsets them.

(which was drenched by rain)

It rained because Bush was innagurated?

This article -- photo, really -- is just good-natured humour, aimed towards the liberals. All of you who're kvetching about this should seriously calm down and laugh a little.. if it'll make you feel any better, pretend it was Clinton who hit his head. That should make you laugh.

..meh. Some of you are positively hopeless.

It's a wonderful way of standardizing education criteria so regions of the country can't fudge numbers in order to pass quotas or cry for more money.

MrGumboPants, its simple logic. I know there were 19 people doing something, now they are gone, therefore no one is doing it anymore. It's like when you leave work at night, the whole building shuts down.

Actually, it depends upon which head you are referring to. Technically speaking his head hit Monica's Tonsils.

In other news, former President Jimmy Carter has flown to Cuba to congratulate his friend Fidel Castro on Cuba being re-elected to the UN's Human Rights Committee.

"It's a wonderful way of standardizing education criteria so regions of the country can't fudge numbers in order to pass quotas or cry for more money."

Actually, it's a fund so private companies can come in to 'in need' schools, tutor 'to the test' so as to maximize score increases (regardless of whether or not anyone is actually better educated.. sometimes yes, sometimes no)..

A mixed bag, to be sure. I work for one of those private companies, if that gives me any cred.

Is America a better place than it was when he came into office?

Well, the truth is that the majority of the world doesn't like the U.S. Other minor groups absolutely hate us even more than they did before because of our war with Iraq and Afganistan (which was about 9/11 if you had forgotten) Our disinvolvement in international environmental treatys didn't help that matter too much when dealing with Kyoto. Pretty soon Greenspan is going to give everyone a printing press to start printing thier own money instead of drop interest rates again. That should help out a little bit before inflation really catches up with us. Top that off with a rising unemployment rate (about 6 percent last time I checked) and there's some flamebait for a political discussion that will never end.
I think life was better when our president was getting head from his intern and everyone was too busy voting hot bikini clad chicks off the island and counting thier money.

2003-05-01 02:53:44 PM
Mr.Nix: sorry to hear about your wife's budget. But it is actually the responsibility of the state and the community to fund schools. federal funding is a very small percentage of the budget. the state or county should have stepped in. i know my property taxes are going up by almost a mill this year because of a tight state budget.

Yeah, the problem will be solved by simply throwing even more money at it, right? There CAN'T be any OTHER reason schools are having problems meeting budget, right?

Naw, it must be G.W.'s fault!

How dare he pass a bill bringing some accountability into where this money goes! The nerve of that man!

MrNix

America has been getting progressively worse during every President I have lived under. The problem is the voters and thier acceptance of the Party System.

The Republicans care about big business, the Democrats care about big business. The problem is the business they mind the most is party business.

I look at a politician, if they have an 'R' or 'D' next to their name, they are part of the problem.

I mean "Bush or Gore" - Really now, were either of these people the very best our country could muster?!?? If so commence quaking.

Ever see so many complex problems reduced to two completely polar solutions? The numbing effect this has had on the electorate has reduced politics to two camps -

1) I Don't Care or
2) My guy is 100% right, your guy is wrong

FOR INTERNATIONAL FARKERS
To understand politics in America right now, launch a tirade against someone. When it is that person's chance to speak - Insert fingers in ears and begin singing, humming, or chanting to keep out the false ideas.

In short -
America was worse off after Clinton got out of office
and it will probably be worse off after Bush II, like it was after BUSH I. The president can NOT affect any change in a system where party politics and spin control the system.

Albo, in case you didn't understand, which you didn't seem to, Gumopants was saying that there still could be terrorists out there getting ready for similar action.

2003-05-01 02:57:24 PM
"Mr.Gumbopants, 'cause, uh, they're dead. they flew into the WTC "

Right, but Bush didn't kill them, right? And his administration didn't do anything to stop them, right? Until after they were dead.

Right?

And one has to imagine there are still far more than 19 people willing to fly planes into our buildings.

We solved that problem in Iraq, though, right?

2003-05-01 02:57:25 PM
accountability in schools?

He is requiring all schools improve their grades. Even the ones that are doing superb, or they get funding cuts.

And "no child left behind" forces schools to allow the retards to be in class with the regular kids. And that pulls grades DOWN. So conceivably most every school will find it almost impossible to improve grade schools with the Speds in class.

2003-05-01 02:57:26 PM
Well of course he hit his head: he dodged the draft by going into the Texas Air Nat'l Guard, and then he went AWOL. If only he'd done the honest, honorable thing...

Pretzels, anyone?

Good Lord.. The One-Worlders here that believe that if the entire United Nations doesn't love us that we're a failure as a nation just don't get it, IMO.

Is it more important to you personally to be popular or right? I know which one I would pick.

Thinking like that gets populist flip-floppers like Clinton and Chirac elected.
