"My oh my! It seems like just yesterday that the dems and liberals were wailing and rending their robes in the streets, crying out, "No! The President is a fop and a fool! He cannot handle this - he's a moron! WE'RE DOOMED!!"

Hmmm. So the war on terrorism is officially over, then?

Ironcross - by "what?" I really mean "relevance?"

If you were in a parking lot watching an average climb into his car, and suddenly he cracked his head real hard you would say, "Ha, what a dumbass!"

You know you would so don't even try to deny it.

I hit my head, that's a tragedy. If someone else hits theirs, its a comedy.

If not for Sept 11 Bush would have most likely been the most disliked president in american history.

His approval ratings were DISMAL before 9/11. And he had more protesters at his innauguration parade (which was drenched by rain) than supporters.

If not for 9/11 Dems would be controlling congress and he would have been all but a worthless sack of nothing for his entire term.

Bush thanks God every night for those a-rabs that done run those planes into our buildings.

MrNix Shhh, the Bushiates don't want to think about those things. Hey, we bested a third rate military for under $100Bil. We got the red, white and blue bunting out and yellow ribbons galore. This ain't no time to think about anything except feeling good about ourselves.

It appears that MrNiX has no concept of the business cycle. It didn't go away. The world will always have boom/recession cycles. We're in a recession cycle (a mild one, too). Ain't no president ever going to stop that. Even the mighty spunk-boy Clinton.

It's funnier than it would be were it anybody else, because he's so damn stupid and he doesn't even know it.

Yeah, he's stupid. He just piloted jet planes for years, graduated from Yale, became a governor, president. And you on the other hand have perfected getting high and using the name Fark the Police.

The arguments against G.W. change daily. Yesterday 9/11 was going to be his downfall (remember the predictions of thousands of casualties and another Vietnam?), but now it's "the best thing that ever happened to him"?

I suppose there were people talking doom and gloom, but I have to say this would have been the case with whoever was president at the time - it would have had a positive effect on Gore had he been in office instead. The point (in my opinion) is that once you weather a storm like 9/11, this country will give you permission to do anything. They would have probably done the same for Gore, just maybe he would have used this surge is popularity to help the country rather than start a war, wreck an already slipping economy, and waste my time flaming about how he banged his head.

2003-05-01 02:30:30 PM
"That's just plain sour grapes. "Aw shucks! He pulled it off! Well, at least now we can say he just did it to profit by!"

Yep, the whole issue is just all tidied up now. Won't be another worry ever again ever.

2003-05-01 02:31:20 PM
I think I wrote that badly. I meant that GW was popuilar after 9/11 simply because he was there. Gore would have too, and perhaps even Nader, provided he combed his hair once in a while.

THEFEZMAN--

My SAT scores are also ridiculously high, and I do drugs every day and can barely tie my own shoes. Does that mean I would make a good president?

2003-05-01 02:32:24 PM
It pisses me off when people think how great a president he became after 9/11... I got news for you, even NADER would have reacted the same way...

So GWB climbed on a pile of rubble and gave a peptalk with a megapone... Big deal... How dumb must you be to fall for such ridiculous symbolism?

Sure it looked spontanuous, but have you ever stopped and wonder how many people planned that photo-op ?

2003-05-01 02:32:25 PM
Geez, must be a really slow news day.

Calisa...

Too bad you live in Ohio. I'd hire you!

Probably didn't hit it hard enough...He's still a scary war-mongering political puppet/moron with a tendancy towards mispronouncing every other word (probably that silver spoon in his mouth).

Maybe if he got kicked by a donkey it might remove his head from his ass.

http://www*mail-archive*com/ctrl[nospam-﹫-backwards]vrestsil*aol*com/msg30805.html

Doesn't seem to be biased one way or the other. Interesting points? Scored in the 95th percentile in verbal and 98th percentil in math, that doesn't seem to be very dumb to me...

Giving the President credit or blame for the economy is like discussing the quality of past hamburgers with Ronald McDonald.

Soon we will elect our leaders based soley on how inflated the stock market is. When a website offering free medical advice gets valued at over a billion again, then we KNOW our elected leaders are working.

The picture of the binoculars would be a bit more representative of Mr. Bush's supposed idiocy if there was video footage of him looking confusedly at the lensed device, scratching his head and screaming "IT NOT WORK" at the guy next to him.

As it stands, though..

2003-05-01 02:37:32 PM
from Jacob Weisberg, Slate:
This week's New Yorker reproduces a document that George W.
Bush wasn't eager to have published: his Yale transcript, which includes his SAT scores (566 verbal, 640 math) and college grades (C average). One doesn't want to read too much into someone's 35-year-old academic records, which in this case are mainly interesting as a reminder of how powerful the Ivy League's affirmative-action program for alumni brats used to be. But the data do tend to substantiate what many have gleaned from listening to the Republican front-runner abuse the English language: The sharpest tool in the shed he ain't.

fezman...

Sorry dude, but your plea will largely fall upon deaf ears because the liberal left (some of whom don't understand the basic principles of the Constitution *coughRobbins & Sarandoncough*) is of the firm belief that standardized exams like the SAT and IQ tests are biased.

Two words for ya... FVCKIN' WAAAAA!!!!

I wonder what kind of sound his head made against the hull of the chopper? My theory is it emulated the premature end to an act on the Gong Show.

Clinton got a blowjob!

Clinton got a blowjob!

Cant you people hear me!?!?!

Bush IS a dipshiat. You may like his policies (I dont)

You may think he's a great leader (not)

Fact is, he's not the brightest. What really grates is how cocky he is. The constant blathering about what good shape he's in and how much he believes in god etc...

I love seeing him hit his head. This made my day.

This speach tonight looks to be one big circle jerk. God forbid he appear before a crowd that ISNT military or handpicked!

TheAnus:

So the State Dept of the current administration points out that Terrorist attacks are at their lowest levels? As a liberal, why would I be upset about this? Do you really think that I would want more terroist attacks just so I can blame Bush? Did you, as a republican, want more deaths when we have a democrat as president so you could blame him? You do realize that from 1960 to 2003, there have been both republican and democrats as president?

Just because you have a heavy hand in international affaris and lower terrorist attacks doesn't mean you are actually solving the problem. There was very little crime in the Taliban rule. Why? Because the penalties were severe. Do those ends justify the means? I don't think so. If the US wants to go around and say "If we even THINK you are sponsoring terrorist activities, we are going to kick your ass". I think their will be a temporary drop, but it just harbours more hate against us. Just my 2 cents.

2003-05-01 02:39:52 PM
As a very pro-Bush, conservative American. Let me say, I do find it funny. It's funny! C'MON! IT'S FUNNY!!!

If you were all at my house and I were coming out of the kitchen and bumped my head on the door, I'd think less of you as human beings if you did not only laugh your collective rear ends off, but failed to sieze every opportunity to harrangue me about it until everyone was sick of the joke.

I'd also expect you to keep your feet of the coffee table. I try to keep this place neat, and if you want to be invited back you better not even think of putting a drink on the arms of my sofa, use the coaster, that's what it's there for.

There's like two people saying it's funny and 90 vehemently defending him. And it doesn't seem like anyone really said "Since he hit his head he's a dumbass" (maybe 1 troll). I think people can quit defending him now.

McRat, Alba ....

You still haven't answered the question:

Is America a better place than it was when he came into office?

It's a simple question. Forget the details of "why" or "how" or "who", just answer the question. (Remember, as President, "The Buck Stops Here." He is ultimately responsible for *everything* that occurs in this country.)

2003-05-01 02:42:15 PM
05-01-03 02:23:55 PM MrNiX

G.W. has done a hell of a job as President.
...
Ask yourself this simple question: is America a better place NOW then it was when he came into office? If you find that too hard to compute, try this list:

* Do you feel safer?

Yep. I sure do.

* Is unemployment down?
* Is the stockmarket up?

The President residing in the White House has little to do with the overall economic path while in office. Legislature takes too long to have an effect. Sure, they can have a short-term effect (see the war effecting the market?), but most change is inherited. Clinton got VERY lucky to be the Pres in office when the internet hit the mainstream.

* Are we better liked in the world?

Who gives a sh*t? We should do what we feel is right, not try to win popularity contests with France.

* Is the environment in better shape?

It's still improving overall, despite cries over oil drilling in Alaska.

* Are corporations behaving better?

Uh, never heard of Sarbanes-Oxley?

* Has education improved?

Oh, and who's fault is that?. Too simple to just slap it all on G.W.'s plate. Besides, the "No Child Left Behind" Act is a good step. Forgot that one?

* Has defense improved? (Yes, he's got that one).
* Are more people above the poverty line?
* Is Social Security in a better position?
* Is Medicare in a better position?
* Are we still running a budget surplus?
* Are state budgets doing better?

Again, he inherited these. SS has been in the crapper for decades. It's going broke and everyone knows it. Medicare is one of the most wasteful systems around (I deal with it daily). This is not crap you can just slap n the President - waste is indemic in the system.

* Is our international appearance better off?

I'd say HELL YES. France is licking our boots asking to be let back in to our good graces, China is yanking on North Korea's chain saying, "You might want to reconsider", the aforementioned drop in terror attacks, etc., etc. You can't have everyone love you - so why try?

Answer those questions honestly and then ask yourself again if Bush is a good president.

I'd say I have. He's good.

H8red

I was well aware that noone would be really swayed by my post. I am just sick of people who have nothing better to do than biatch about how stupid GW bush is, when they sit on their fat lazy butts on forum complaining about stuff noone in their right mind should care about. Was it really worth the 5 minutes of someone's life to post an article (on yahoo or fark) about the president bumping his head on a low door?

Who's really the stupid one when this guy is running the country, and thousands of people have nothing better to do with their time but try and find stupid crap to complain and argue about? I mean come on, the guy's human, and I sure as hell wouldn't want to be in his position right now.
