While entertainment for the children is a hallmark of a good funeral home, it's in somewhat poor taste to make the theme of the course Halloween-ish death.

I guess it fits, but I would have gone for something a bit more upbeat, like a farm theme or something like that.

That would just suck.

Not any more than something that reminds a grieving family about death.

You know, you don't have to go there.

They could put one at an abortion clinic.

If I'm reading TFA correctly, it was built for the kids of the owners, not as entertainment for customers.

I like the idea of stipulating (okay, suggesting) that attendees of my funeral loosen up first with a quick nine holes at this course of complete awesomeness!

Then some quick weeping and on to the wake.

2010-03-28 01:08:35 PM
Creepiest? Maybe.

Most awesome? I just got involved with this organization which organizes, in part, a season-long miniature golf course designed by local artists on Governor's Island every summer.

2010-03-28 01:13:39 PM
I don't know if the server is melting down, but from what I saw that is a website circa 1992.

2010-03-28 01:17:48 PM
And the server is down

The Incredible Sexual Egg: Only picture I could get to load:

If you click on those blue blocks they load pictures from Flickr in a new tab. And I encourage everyone to constantly hit f5 on that sight because the server sucks.

"on that sight?" SITE. Damn, it's too early for being drunk (I'm not).

Sure, because thoughts of planting and reaping would be a-ok.

I understand it's a family name, but Ahlgrim really sounds like the funerals will be even more depressing than they already would be.

What this web page might look like

So it's dim and has some fairly standard halloween decorations. What's so special about this again? Considering this is a funeral home, they could have done much, much better. Old embalming tables, Real Broken caskets; just get the ones they dropped off the truck, and don't open them to reveal those dressed as happy tourists. have a decomposing looking mannequin in there. So on and so forth.

2010-03-28 02:34:51 PM
I would totally pick that as where I want my funeral, with a buffet. Nothing worst then being sad on an empty stomach.

2010-03-28 02:37:38 PM
what hole do i put the ball in?

Heh. He's got a Galaga. Coolest funeral home evar.

The House of the Dead
would be a much more appropriate choice, I think.

I'm not falling for ghoulish lobootomy's post. Like "skinink" trashing people with tattoos.

Actually, it's just about right as a little piece of Americana to check out when you are in the area. I've duly noted it for my next Chicago trip. Also in the area are the American Science and Surplus store, as well as the Museum of Holography. In my own neck of the woods, there's a spiffy little place called "Marvin's Marvelous Machine Museum in Farmington Hills, MI... I doubt many people in Farmington Hills, let alone Michigan even knows about the place - yet it was magical to my (then) 9 year old son when I took him.

Visit places like this, and you'll be a richer person for the experience.

Weird. I've never wanted to go hang out at a funeral home before.

As someone who used to live above a funeral home, I'm getting .....envious. That's too cool.

Hey, if my family name were "Ahlgrim", I'd get into the funeral business too.
