Ahh, now that's good ol' fashioned hilarity.

Lawmakers have given second-round approval to Janssen's casino bill (LR11CA), but he said he is unsure whether he has the votes to get the bill passed and might hold it over until next year.

I bet he just picked up a few votes thanks to the anti-gambling lobby.

you only wish it were mud
2003-04-30 12:21:06 AM
what no asinine tag?

"It's just asinine," said {Sen. Ray} Janssen, who is the sponsor of a proposal that could allow up to allow eight casinos in the state.
2003-04-30 12:21:36 AM
but what was the street value of the mud?
2003-04-30 12:21:42 AM
Drywall mud, maybe?
2003-04-30 12:21:43 AM
So there will be something to do in Nebraska?
2003-04-30 12:21:48 AM
Thats why I only use ass dollars.
2003-04-30 12:21:57 AM

Dirty money?

2003-04-30 12:24:02 AM

Which is why tomorrow I'm going to get a big glass jar, fill it with water, put a lable of a skull and crossbones on it. Lable it "Liquid Death" or "SARS" and leave it outside of an elemntry school.

we all need out entertainment. and as stupid as it may sound, i bet people still freak out.
2003-04-30 12:26:08 AM

what an amazing idea. I approve.
2003-04-30 12:26:11 AM
If you did that, ReaperCow, I bet you would get at least 5-10 years in jail. Even joking about that stuff isn't looked on as funny any more.
2003-04-30 12:28:17 AM

Which is why tomorrow afternoon, after you get booked in for disturbing the peace, inciting a riot, and general asshattery, a big guy named "Scabby Otha" peels your jumpsuit off and rams the ole' third input until you bleed and tear inside.

Prisioners need entertainment, too. Thank you for your service.
2003-04-30 12:28:20 AM
People used to snort that stuff through rolled-up bills. Now they can have their cash and snort it too!
2003-04-30 12:28:31 AM

yeah, because i was serious about it.
2003-04-30 12:30:11 AM
quick, someone quote the guy who used the word asinine and link the asinine tag image!
2003-04-30 12:31:00 AM
Take the "Nutritional Facts" lable off some corn beef hash or something and tape it to the jar.
2003-04-30 12:31:06 AM
M.C.PeePants if you want some real fun sell it to Frats as GHB.
2003-04-30 12:32:46 AM
Here's mud in your eye.
2003-04-30 12:35:34 AM
Would that be putting your money where your nose is?
2003-04-30 12:37:00 AM
Actually, I think Reaper should do it. Make sure it's in cover of darkness so nobody knows it's you, don't leave fingerprints, and allow the ensuance of hilarity.
2003-04-30 12:39:51 AM
ReaperCow : dont feel bad, i'd love to watch cnn for like 4 hours trying to decide whether its a hoax or not :)))

stupid stupid people, now your afraid of .... white powder? back in my day we were only scared of a gun, and thats only because we all had knives.

/nothin, didnt read article
2003-04-30 12:43:47 AM
Oh please. Most of this was just the politicians grasping at a simple mistake, and trying to make it look like the people opposing them were monsters.
2003-04-30 12:44:48 AM
That should have been to ReaperCow
2003-04-30 12:47:49 AM
lol, Thales. For a minute, I thought you were referring to my "Drywall mud" post...
2003-04-30 12:49:12 AM
ReaperCow: I had a friend who (a few years ago, before all this recent terrorist paranoia) would carry a brown box to the middle of crowded outdoor places (like a college campus), set it down and run. He had a buddy videotape the whole thing from behind some's pretty funny to watch unfold, but when I think about it, if something like that happened near me I would run like wind too.
2003-04-30 12:57:52 AM
I'm serious about the jail sentence. They are threatening that woman who wrote the fake terrorist notes on the cruise ship with back-to-back 10-year sentences, even though she obviously was not going to do anything.

I agree we've all overreacted and in the current political climate I'm afraid to even talk to certain people these days...
2003-04-30 01:15:56 AM
i know, i know, I'm well aware that little jokes get people big jail time. jesus christ some of you people are itchy on the flamefingers. Must be something in the water.

at any rate, the last thing I want to do is reinforce white suburban fears of terrorism, God knows there's enough of that going around as it is. So I think I'll leave it off.
2003-04-30 01:26:53 AM
woohoo! 2 nebraska stories in as many days... do i smell a nebraska tag coming along???!?!
2003-04-30 01:46:54 AM
I wish someone would send me 5$ bills.
2003-04-30 01:48:01 AM
these guys are toast now. they're so gonna get shat on by a bunch of pissed off gob'ment bastards.
2003-04-30 01:55:43 AM
See? Gambling causes anthrax scares!
2003-04-30 02:31:50 AM
while it would be stupid to leave it in public somewhere, i bet it would be a good conversation piece in your apartment.
2003-04-30 02:34:02 AM
Oh, and their name is now mud.

/Can't believe it wasn't said. We're all slow tonight...
2003-04-30 03:01:36 AM
"Whoa, did you fall into some mud, or something?"
"Yeah I did, and now I'm going to be rich, because I'm the only person on earth who knows where you can find white mud."
"I didn't say mud, I said crud... did you fall into some CRUD or something? Let's get some water
and wash off that CRUD."

/black sheep

anyone else notice the name of the political activist group - "Gambling with the Good Life"

heh. fundies.
2003-04-30 08:16:01 AM
****"It was a very irresponsible thing to do in light of the anthrax scares," Lincoln Sen. DiAnna Schimek said. "You don't send elected officials an envelope with a powdery substance in the bottom."****

They didn't. They sent an envelope with mud covered money. Irresponsible, no. Short-sighted, yes. Get a grip and stop grandstanding.

****I agree we've all overreacted and in the current political climate I'm afraid to even talk to certain people these days...****

Isn't backdoor censorship wonderful!!

*yawn* Jail the bleeding hearts....
2003-04-30 12:23:36 PM
Enjoyduff: So what would happen with the brown box thing? I mean, I can guess, but I'd love to hear your version.
2003-04-30 02:25:17 PM
I'll take all the dirty money you got...
2003-04-30 05:10:13 PM
Dyolf: Well, basically, it's what you would expect. At first everyone looks at the box and then at each other wondering what the heck just happened. Then, about 1.5 seconds later, someone realizes that it's probably a good idea to get as far away from the box as a hurry. It only takes one person to run away to convince the entire crowd to take off. Oddly enough (although he says he only did this a couple times) nobody ever called the police, and the box just sat there for like 15-20 minutes. His friend with the camera would go get the box and take it home, just in case the police did show up. I guess people on college campuses figured it was a joke so they didnt call the authorities, but they still didnt want to take any chances and ran like the wind.
