"And this balance here has been completely reversed. The thing that sustains a strong Fox network is the thing that undermines a strong Republican party."

"The anger trapped the [Republican] leadership," Frum said, and "the leadership discovered they have no room to maneuver as a result of the anger."

He's absolutely right (no pun intended), and he's delivering a message that the faithful need to hear. However, once the Fox republicans figure out that Frum's a Canadian, he'll be dismissed as a godless commie spy.

"The anger trapped the [Republican] leadership," Frum said, and "the leadership discovered they have no room to maneuver as a result of the anger."

Why do they have no room to maneuver? What is this maneuvering? A bill comes across a Republican desk, why is it they need to maneuver? Why can they not read it and vote/debate on the merits instead of being cornered by a network into a hardline position they do not wish to take? How is it possible to "trap" a politician into a vote?

To understand the answers to the above questions, is it necessary to assume Republicans are more interested in staying politicians than they are voting what they feel is best?

I already have my own answers to the above questions, people might consider these for themselves.

SteelPeart: Nice, ducky.

So all of the other outlets are unbiased, is that correct?

Yes or no will do.

All questions should refer to everything and use words like "all" because it is not possible that in a list with multiple members only some would apply, is that correct?

MSNBC is the only there that can be considered marginally liberal.

NPR is the closest goddamn thing we'll ever get to BBC, and MSNBC is the closest you can get to fair and balanced in the sense of balancing out biases.

NPR is pretty fairly balanced (no pun intended), and it astonishes me that 11% of Fox viewers think NPR is the most biased source of news out there. They're about 180 degrees wrong, even without Fox as an option. (And the joke is that FoxNews wasn't an option in the poll, but of course you didn't understand that.)

"Yes or no" is completely inadequate to rate this because it does not account for the magnitude of distortion. It's like comparing the Fox News funhouse mirror to the 100 year old mirror that has only the slightest warble in the reflection.

it actually bothers me that this little toadhuman is now rational.

it's kinda like if you had a hot dog vendor you saw frequently, but instead of hot dogs, he served turds in a bun (dressed chicago style, even). for years on end you'd see this man selling turdwiches a plenty, and people delighted at the quality of his wares - seemingly unaware that they were in fact delighting in eating shiat.

then one day, the guy starts selling actual hot dogs. not Nathan's or Nationals or even Ekrich, but like...Ball Park.

but you still know the guy is a turdwich salesman - your senses tell you everything in front of you is actually what it seems, but you are left to wonder where the fecal matter is.

in summary, I know there's poop in that Frum, you're not fooling anybody.

What he is posting has nothing to do with a point. He wants to boil a complex issue down to a "yes or no" question so as to make it impossible to answer truthfully, making him feel vindicated because he can make someone else look bad. It's way easier than trying to address the real issue of how many news organizations there are, and if they are biased, to what degree, and in which direction.

There was a survey done to monitor NPR's "bias". They counted the political affiliation of the talking heads they brought on to comment. 4-1 in favor of conservative. Apparently ANY liberal comment makes rightwingers apoplectic. No, worse. Any disagreement with the lunacy du jour makes them more apoplectic.

The second time in less than a week that Frum has criticized the party. I'm thinking he has a guilty conscience for being Bush's old speech writer and what happened during the Bush regime. More of these people need to be speaking out against the Teabaggers and hate radio.

I'm amazed there hasn't yet been more outrage over the "Republicans thought Fox News worked for us" part. That assertion is sort of bad, too.

Maybe it's just been so obvious for so long that it's hard to get worked up over Frum admitting what every rational person already knew.

Really? I would think after the confining of the debate that occured under Bush and now Obama you should have been introduced to maneuvering. If you don't support this you are for .... (terrorists winning or people dieing in the streets).

There is also another trap that is to imbed poison pills. A bill that ballances the budget, leaves all programs fully funded and does not raise taxes, but declare Sept 23rd "We love hitler day".

Politics aint the idealized version some people romanticizes it as.
