And, in response to JaxGator 75, yeah - there is some freak-ass stuff that happens in NC. I just relate better to the Massachusetts craziness since I was born and raised there, and I've lived on the South Shore and in the Greater Amherst area. (Like Amherst a tad better :) )

Technically/legally, there is no difference between a commenwealth and a state. I think Mass. was just fruity back in the 1700's. Damn fundi pilgrams.

I currently live in Worcester. It is mostly a slum. There are some okay parts, but you have to look really hard. Hoodlum children broke into my Blazer, stole 4 bucks in change and 5 CDs I really didn't like. This all happened in my DRIVEWAY. BUT, my ex boyfriend is from New Beige...and you couldn't pay me to live there.

Oh, and while we're mentioning shiatty towns in MA, let's not forget Lawrence, Methuen (mingya!), Revere and Lynn, to name just a few.

Historical note: Charles Stewart murdered his pregnant wife a decade before anybody had heard of Scott Peterson. Only Chuck combined murder and inciting racial unrest by blaming a fictional black carjacker. Boy, did the cops end up looking like tools for that little fiasco.

I understand your point. Probably the reason for not having a registry of every criminal, just sex offenders is because sex offenders have the highest rate of repeat offense out of any kind of criminal...especially child molesters. Many murderers aren't serial murderers, they have killed somebody they know during what they call a "crime of passion". So they go to jail, get out and most likely don't murder again. That's not all of course, but most. Child molesters go on and RARELY stop molesting, hence the registry.

I hate this state. Bunch of sick bastards.

I used to live in Worcester. Three years. What a dump. I was beat up by five 12-year-old Puerto Rican gang members one night right on Park Ave., in front of my then-gf. Really pissed me off 'cause a good portion of my family is Puerto Rican, and kids like that give minorities a bad name.

Bedford is a suburb of Boston. New Bedford is an old whaling and fishing city slowing dying.

Wow, I never knew so many people were from this area. I've lived in Westport nearly all my life, so I know both New Bedford and Fall River well, and in fact, moved out with my girlfriend into New Bedford for 4 months, and now live in Fall River, 4 months and counting. Fall Rive is far and away better then New Beige, though that's not to say it's anything but a joke-city. NB is much scarier in general, where Fall Rive is much more comical with the ave-cruising Portuguese.

Anyone else from the area? Specifically, I'm living near St. Anne's. Keylock, what about yourself?

Tapakip- I live between where you live and where you used to live. ;) But not in the nice $$ area.

Emeril, yeah...he owns a few places near you now. I hear that he bought up 2 local restaurants. He was also trained by a Chef from NB :D

I think FR has less "non-scary" parts than NB. Downtown NB is a better area than it was 10 years ago...as is the park area...but the southend is turning into a nightmare, and they got rid of the police down there now, so it will get worse. I don't feel too safe walking around the "downtown" are of FR at all...not after 5 anyhow.

New Bedford

Although I'm now back in England I lived in New Bedford for 2 years in the early 90's. I lived on County St in an old whaling captains house. It was very nice. Downtown was great and although it has some bad neighbourhoods it was a great place to live. The people were all friendly to me, even in the bad neighbourhoods where I worked. Handy for Boston and the Cape too!
