Well, the other way clearly wasn't working.

2010-03-22 04:36:24 PM
If the American Thinker had it's finger on the pulse of America we'd be talking about President McCain's war on Iran right now and wondering who will replace VP Palin cause she quit.

2010-03-22 04:37:39 PM
Meanwhile, the nice folks at American Thinker wake up stunned ever single day, and go to bed the same way. This is what happens when the only tool you have is a hammer, and everything looks like a nail, including your head.

I'm un-American I guess. I think Obama is doing pretty well, considering what he inherited.

2010-03-22 04:40:20 PM
Of those 5, I think they put it in reverse order. #5 is clearly the weirdest, and #1 is sort of boring.

2010-03-22 04:40:34 PM
You mean we woke up this morning and had single-payer health care? I am stunned!

I'm immediately suspect of any organization that includes terms like "thinker" in their name. In general, it's usually the opposite.

2010-03-22 04:53:34 PM
Feels about the same. I'm sure the problem's on my end though.

If only.

It true. Just this morning, I start grow mustache and speak in broken English.

FTFA: The worst part of watching the proceedings unfold on Sunday was the endless stream of commentators and pundits calmly discussing this bill as if it were just one more piece of bad legislation that we will have to live under. In fact, what has transpired is nothing less than an overthrow of the old Constitutional order.

In 1776, the American Republic boldly announced its birth with the Declaration of Independence. In 2010, it quietly expired with a declaration of dependence -- on government, on entitlement, and on the Democratic party

Hyperbole much?

Holy hyperbole!

Yes, this morning I got up to make the coffee and found that we were out of coffee! Where did it go? Obviously the government took away my family's hard-earned coffee and gave it to a welfare queen.

/At least we'll get cool parades with tanks and funny marching and red flags and stuff.

The Constitution doesn't mention the word Capitalism. Section 8 describes Welfare. The Founding Fathers intended the United States to be a socialist nation.

Welcome to Derp Day on Fark!

Unreal.

ZOMGSOCIALISMRUNRUNPANICRUN!!!

Yes, because government providing for the citizens is so terribly and fundamentally ruinous forever to a free market society. Not to mention it makes Baby Jesus cry. Especially with health care. I mean, it's not like the Socialist Public Libraries, or the Socialist Public School System, or the Socialist Fire Department, or the Socialist Police Department, or the Socialist Judicial System, or the Socialist Highway System, or the Socialist Military.

No, no indeed. You see, health care for people that need it. Well, that's just plain wrong.

Political party is fairly elected to unprecedented majorities and finally succeeds in passing legislation they have been championing for decades.

Yeah, this is a BIG surprise.

Good news, GOP - Hyperbolic Catastrophe Week has been extended to an entire month!!!!

At least they're saying the name correctly now. Today "Democratic Party", tomorrow clapping their hands together successfully so they can receive ice cream cones.

Here in Canada we just have faith that government bureaucrats always act in our best interests. What can possibly go wrong?

American "Thinker"... I know plenty of smart conservatives. Why aren't they the ones writing and setting the tone?

2010-03-22 05:00:18 PM
Yip. 'Tis true! A bill that requires you to buy insurance from a private carrier is actually written into the Communist Manifesto. And, interestingly, in Sean Penn's underpants.

Of course, you'll note that health sector stocks on Wall Street shot up like fireworks this morning. It doesn't get more socialist than that, does it?

Case closed.

I could only wish health insurers were actually government controlled. Then we might actually see REAL reform. What we got yesterday isn't bad, but as long as there are companies who make profits based solely on the concept of denying sick people healthcare, we're still farked as a society.

We elected Brian Moore? Awesome. I voted for Obama 'cause I didn't think the SPUSA had a chance, even though Obama's continued the Bush-Cheney foreign policy of imperialism and torture, and wouldn't even endorse a single-payer health plan.

I look at it more like this -- he got behind the wheel of a car that was already going too fast down a mountain road, and proceeded to floor it.

I kind of wish the bill did anything of the sort.

//Requiring the citizenry to buy the products of a series of private companies isn't quite the same thing.

2010-03-22 05:04:18 PM
The democrats need to champion a hyperbole tax and our financial problems would be over today.

2010-03-22 05:04:32 PM
I looked at Reuters' summary of the bill and I'm still not seeing the socialism.

2010-03-22 05:05:04 PM
So when do the highly progressive income taxes with a 100% bracket at very high values come down?

When does single-payer health care kick in?

When do we start having publicly-subsidized higher education?

When do we implement a large-scale civilian works force to put the unemployed to work and get our infrastructure and manufacturing base back in shape?

When are we nationalizing transportation, communications and power infrastructure?

When do we restructure the state and local governments into labor councils?

When does the federal government change to a system of sortition or direct democracy?

When is all of this happening? Or any of this? Cause I'll be first in line if it is.

I don't know. I woke up this morning to the sound of a large military parade going past my front door. That was pretty cool, right until some jackbooted thug walked up to me and hit me with the butt of a rifle for not cheering loudly.

So it's sort of a mixed blessing so far.
