ah, obama - he's the maoist, socialist, marxist, fascist, half-breed muslin darling of wall street!

Health care stocks? I thought the government owned health care now, how can there still be stocks? Clearly this is liberal propaganda.

Because everyone knows that this will just turn healthcare into an even bigger political football. These guys don't have to worry about spending on marketing as much, they just need to lobby a couple of congress critters for a bigger government insurance premium subsidy.

Until the SCOTUS rules that forcing people to buy policies is unconstitutional.

And to think about a month ago I thought I should get OUT of my health care company stocks.

I can't wait to hear how Limbaugh tries to spin a rising stock market based on health care companies is bad -- oh, wait, he won't mention it. He'll just scream and lie about how every family farm will be seized to pay for mandatory abortions.

you're right, subby. Mandated consumerism at the threat of jail time is a good thing for businesses and the economy. How about if we take it further - let's mandate all 315,000,000 Americans must buy x number of shoes a year or pay a fine or go to jail? Nike and Steve Madden will love that?

How about we mandate everyone must buy one mattress per year or pay a fine or go to jail? Who will think of the mattress wholesalers?

Which probably won't happen, but imagine the financial chaos if it did.

/does not believe it is within the proper scope of government to force people to buy a product

It's not unconstitutional to force people to pay into Social Security and Medicare. Why would it be unconstitutional to require that people buy health insurance?

obama trauma: "Buy health insurance or go to jail" = good for insurance companies, no shiat.

Actually its just an increase in your income tax with a deduction if you have insurance. If you decide to take that deduction without having insurance you go in the pile of people who cheated on their taxes. You might go to jail, but you can settle pretty easily too, with all the other tax cheats.

30,000,000 more patients?
Looks like the Health Care industry better start hiring more help.

You are required to have car insurance, too. What's the problem?

My question is did they cap co-pays?

If not I'd just sign everyone up take their monthly payments and set the copays at $1000.

Don't like it? To bad you're mandated to stay with me.

Fark.com - Warren Buffett says healthcare costs are limiting America's economic growth. But what does he know, stupid liberal (new window)

posted to Politics » on 01 Mar 2010 at 5:15 PM

Nobody ever went far wrong investing on the advice of a liberal like Warren Buffett. It's why Liberals said they were pulling their 401(k)s out of market-based investments in December 2007 (new window), when the DJIA was at 13,371.72

It's why investing in the S&P under a Dem President returned much more than a GOP President, even if you don't count the destruction that free-market Republican ideas brought about in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

It's why he vies for Richest Bad-Ass Motherfarker On The Planet status.

I'm positive it's not a perfect solution.

But at least someone had the nuts to make the attempt.

Maybe emergency room response times will improve now eh?

You're not required to own a car, though. The living thing, though, is tough to get out of without dying.

Solution: Don't be born?

With the funny stuff out of the way, I didn't think it was, "go to jail", I thought it go, "be heavily audited by the IRS (then maybe)."

Not that I've been following this much, living in Canada and all.

Still not true, I can own a car and not carry insurance if I choose to. I am OK with what I know about the health care bill so far, but this analogy is retarded. If I don't want to pay for auto insurance I can choose not to drive, therefore every American is not forced to buy auto insurance or pay what is effectively a fine.

Social Security is a better analogy.

So, can we defund medicare and medicaid now? I mean, we all have to go buy insurance, so lets save some government money by dropping those welfare plans.
