This show is 20 pounds of crazy in a 5 pound bag.

For a formula show, it's pretty damn good. Just the right amount of drama/comedy/action. Also it has Gina Bellman... Yummy.. (Check out Jekyll if you've never seen it)

I don't even have a TV, but I still watch this. It's that good.

(Aside from any time an airplane is involved, at which point they resort to CGI that's kinda lame.)

Yup, I do like this show. It is solid fun, and interesting the show's been self-financed (first by Devlin, then by this fund) since the inception of the thing. I also love how they make Portland a stand-on for Boston.

I miss Wanted.

This is one of only three shows that my wife and I actually make plans to sit down and watch. I originally thought it wouldn't be that good, but we decided to give it a shot on the premiere and have been watching it since

It's entertaining but "outstanding" is a stretch. The formula is predictable and they always cheat the viewer through lazy storytelling and editing by hiding half the action till the end or making 20 second bomb countdowns take 2 mins.

Bad guy traps good guys, but wait! The good guys knew all along and planned for this exact scenario and already outsmarted the bad guys 3 days ago.

Like I said, it can be entertaining, but it's not smart or original.

A friend of mine said it best when he said its a mini-Ocean's even week. Same concept really, just on a TV show format

Christian Kane ='s awesome. Love the show.

The husband and I love it - I'd characterize the show as Ocean's Eleven meets The A-Team. Sure the plots aren't wholly original (come on, we didn't watch The A-Team for the brilliant plots either), but the main characters are all fabulous and the actors work as a great ensemble second only to the late and lamented Firefly cast.

That is just the thing: I get the impression that the actors generally and genuinely enjoy working with one another and enjoy acting their parts in what are sorta silly, predictable stories. Timothy Hutton needs to ratchet down the emo (IMHO, of course) but besides that...? everyone else seems to gel quite well.

I highly recommend that anyone who likes Leverage watch Hustle (also called 'Hu$tle') on the BBC in the UK. Most eps available on torrent and STC for American viewers. Not as silly or formulaic as Leverage, IMO.

The emo doesn't bother me so much as the forced gruff voice which gives me a sore throat just listening to it. But yes - they really do all gel nicely. Lots of great little asides, excellent small moments.

I got into Leverage as I am a long-time fan of Hustle. Thing is I tend to enjoy Leverage a bit more as Hustle has of later seasons, turned a bit more misanthropic than is necessary. That and Albert needs to move to the Grifters Retirement Home.

For all of you tempering your critiques of the show, keep in mind it's the A-Team of our generation. It doesn't have to be anything more, and the dialogue produces regular gems.

Same here. First two seasons of Hustle were really good. Leverage has become must-see tv for me, and Netflix has the first season online.

Leverage was always just a generic American version of Hustle. Hustle was much better in its prime. Now they're both about on par with each other.

not the best storytelling, but the cast interaction and dialogue are what make the show.

She must be a phenomenal actress because every episode that she's in, I want to smack the ever-loving crap out of Sophie.

The best part of Leverageis the Hardison-Parker-Eliot banter. I'm a sucker for clever snark.

I rarely say shows are fun but it is the first adjective that comes to mind. It certainly doesn't take itself too seriously (or seriously at all).

Absolutely - Hardison's little faux-Japanese commercial for Eliot, and Eliot's reaction were just priceless. I like the whole cast, but those three definitely make the show.

/Still can't believe that she had a child with Jason Lee, and named him Pilot Inspektor
//Met her (and the rest of the cast) in person last summer at the Season 2 premiere here in Portland, and she's the most bubbly, sweet, complete opposite of Parker

Came for pics of Parker, leaving almost completely disappointed...

(thanks PDXBishop... and seriously, Pilot Inspektor!?!??!)

I got on in the middle of season 2 (when Jeri Ryan subbed for Gina Bellman), and i've been hooked since. The cast is great, the dialogue is snappy, and even though you know the gang 'wins' in the end, the fun comes from seeing how they pull the con off. It's the journey, not the destination. I"m hoping the 3rd season delves more into Eliot, Hardison and Parker's backstories.

"Seriously?"

2010-03-22 02:55:25 PM
Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance, but my ex raved about this show, and I watched a couple of episodes, and maaaaaaan, I couldn't get into it at all. The acting and writing were awful.

It always struck me as The A-Team written for the Matlock demographic.

I really liked the first season. I somehow missed the first couple episodes of the second and haven't found my way back. I'm hoping I can catch it on Netflix or something.

I've heard that his stuff is better live, from a few of my friends who've seen him perform here in town (apparently, whenever they're here in Portland shooting, he performs with his band like every other week at Dante's downtown).

Not to turn this into the Christian Kane thread... but I would love to see him perform live. I tried to get over there for the recent gig, but couldn't make it.

Leverage is very good. Sure it's a bit repetitive, but few shows can pull off originality every week for multiple seasons.

and Christian Kane is one damn fine looking man

/not gay, don't wanna bang him, just stating an obvious fact
