This is one of the finest examples of headline in recent memories. I award your effort with a meaningless +1.

2010-03-21 06:32:14 PM
Heh heh. Good headline. another meaningless +1

2010-03-21 07:06:02 PM
Excellent headline, and this link gives me happys. Congrats Mr. Randi, good for you!

2010-03-21 07:10:37 PM
I thought all Canadians were assumed to be ghey until proven otherwise.

2010-03-21 07:19:28 PM
Well, this totally changes my perception of his work in whatever field he is in. Haha, he's in the entertainment field? Man, that guy sure is risking never working again.

2010-03-21 07:53:00 PM
Uri Geller didn't see this coming.

2010-03-21 08:08:06 PM
I won't believe this until I see some evidence of it. How can we believe it based on just his word? Independent testing is needed to confirm

ArkAngel: I won't believe this until I see some evidence of it. How can we believe it based on just his word? Independent testing is needed to confirm

You could ask his busband, that'd probably do the trick. ;]

2010-03-21 08:51:00 PM
I must say I did not see this coming. Mainly because not once, in my entire life, have I ever thought about James Randi having sex with anyone.

Now I can't stop thinking about it.

2010-03-21 09:26:59 PM
Does this mean he's changing his name to "The Fabulous Randi"?

2010-03-21 09:41:34 PM
I thought he came out at the last JREF meeting thing...

In another dose of Randi awesomeness, at that event it was discussed that he'd been diagnosed with cancer. Someone asked him what he wanted done with his remains. He said, "I want to be cremated and my ashes blown in Uri Geller's eyes."

2010-03-21 11:03:34 PM
Hoora for Randi.

2010-03-21 11:05:15 PM
He should change his name to the Fabulous Randi.

2010-03-21 11:06:01 PM
He just got a bit Randier.

ArkAngel: I won't believe this until I see some evidence of it. How can we believe it based on just his word? Independent testing is needed to confirm

This, personal experiences are the lowest form of scientific data everyone would expect hard and unquestionable proof that he is gay.

2010-03-21 11:06:19 PM
I'm shocked! Shocked! I'm as shocked as I was when it became known that Liberache was gay. I'm less shocked than when I learned that George Takei(sp) was gay.

2010-03-21 11:06:56 PM
I have to ask one thing about this matter:

WHY DOES ANYONE CARE WHAT YOU DO IN THE BEDROOM

Seriously. I thought we had more important things here, like debunking homeopathy and quacks. The fact that you like penis, or vagina, has what bearing on who you are as a person, again?

/paid for by the committee for people who are sick and tired of hearing about what someone's sexuality is, and doesn't see it's relivence to anything.

RevRaven: He should change his name to the Fabulous Randi.

Damnit, the one time I think of a good one and I'm triumphed by some TFer. :P

that's badass.

2010-03-21 11:11:13 PM
So he's a founding member of the Lemon Party?

2010-03-21 11:11:32 PM
Zzzzzz.... Uh. Huh? Some dude is gay? Great. More women for me. Also, I'm going on a date. Does this shirt match?

SpacePunk: I'm less shocked than when I learned that George Takei(sp) was gay.

OMG! George Takei is gay??

/deadpan

2010-03-21 11:12:22 PM
Are we sure? He could be confused. Like that time a few months ago when he said he wasn't convinced that Global Warming was real.

2010-03-21 11:13:29 PM
At an Alice in Chains concert and drunk. We passed health care and Randi is gay. This day cant get any better.

2010-03-21 11:13:38 PM
I don't like homosexuality. I mean how does gay marriage even work?

If a women is married to another woman who pays the bills?

And if a man is married to another man, who is making them sandwiches?

/Confused

2010-03-21 11:13:45 PM
Duh.

What straight male would spell Randi with an I instead of a Y?

2010-03-21 11:14:11 PM
MycroftAB: I must say I did not see this coming. Mainly because not once, in my entire life, have I ever thought about James Randi having sex with anyone.

Yeah, I kinda figured he was asexual. They do exist.

Someone his age 'coming out' is kinda weird, as it is for just about anyone these days. I mean, it's like "ummmm... OK. I'm not a vegetarian and I drive a Japanese car." Who the fark cares unless you live in some shiathole like Alabama?

Actually, some people care or else they would not keep voting to deprive gay people of equal rights. As long as fundies and their kind keep passing anti-marriage bills and rolling back anti-discrimination laws that are already on the books, then coming out is an important political act.

2010-03-21 11:15:20 PM
I don't care if he's gay. He's still Amazing to me.

2010-03-21 11:16:47 PM
Who could have ever predicted that.

2010-03-21 11:17:05 PM
Barney Frank, Oscar Wilde, Stephen Fry, Ellen DeGeneres, Rachel Maddow....

I don't even think teh gheys find them attractive....

At least he came out when he was too old for anyone to care.

2010-03-21 11:17:13 PM
Eastman: he came from the east to do battle with the Amazing RANDI!

2010-03-21 11:17:43 PM
Are you still gay if you're too old to get it up?

2010-03-21 11:18:05 PM
Has anyone told Sophia Loren?

2010-03-21 11:19:30 PM
Slight irony that it took so many years for a man that chides the world for deception to speak the truth about himself. And only when he thinks that it has become acceptable, even heroic, to do so.

Embrace the infamy, smug dick licker.

2010-03-21 11:19:58 PM
I admire the guy. He was one of the original mythbusters before mythbusting was cool.

Now he's taken another courageous step, and I'm happy for him.

HumbleGenius: Are you still gay if you're too old to get it up?

If you can't stir it you can still lick it.

2010-03-21 11:20:37 PM
Weird. Was I the only one who pretty much took it for granted that he was gay? Considering that articles about him would sometimes mention the attractive male proteges who would stay at his house for long periods of time, well, you don't need to be clairvoyant to figure that one out.

Randi's not really my style (his books are entertaining but can be sloppy with fact-checking, which is really not good when you're in his line of work - Gardner is much better) but I have to say that I love his dying wish. I hope whoever does blow his ashes in Geller's eyes gets it recorded.

As long as people believe in gods, psychics, and witches, people like me will be there to spread fear and hate among them while separating them from their money.

b2theory: At an Alice in Chains concert and drunk. We passed health care and Randi is gay. This day cant get any better.

Bull, any day that Karl Rove has not been violated by a pack of syphilitic jackals is a day that could get better.

RenownedCurator: Was I the only one who pretty much took it for granted that he was gay?

I just didn't pay attention. James Randi's sex life is of no concern to me. Like I said above, I thought he "officially" came out months ago if not longer and then promptly forgot about it until this headline came along. I mean cool for him and I don't think he or anyone else should have to hide who they are...but I frankly don't care one way or the other.

keeping quiet about it is no way to be an attention whore.

LOLOLOLOL!!!!!

My Grandma decried Randi as gay, cuz she saw him on the NY subway or somewhere with younger men. And I forget what else set off her gaydar. Something about eyedrops???

Anyway, I find it hilarious that my Grandma called it.

\RIP old prudish Catholic

Marriage is not a right.

Homosexuality is a behaviour issue, as billions of years of evolution has told us it takes a male and female to procreate.

A "skeptic" who debunks Creationists should know this.

Also, if homosexuals are allowed to be married, then people who choose so should be able to live in all-White neighborhoods. You don't want to discriminate, do you?

Obligatory: The 'Funny He Never Married' sketch. (YouTube)

Seriously, James Randi is I admire and nothing has changed.

Peaceboy: Uri Geller didn't see this coming.

Sure he did. That's how Randi ended up "bent"
