Truly a fascinating woman. If CNN had as courageous people running the network and in front of the cameras, they would be a much better news organization.

Part of her tongue was shot out in a sniper attack. They rebuilt her jaw, but no doctor can rebuild a tongue.

" 'We came into their war. Fair's fair,' " former CNN correspondent Stefano Kotsonis, who was with her when she was shot, remembered her saying. " 'I don't blame anyone for firing at me. They're in a war, and I stepped into it.' "

Just how did she manage to say this with a shattered jaw and mangled tongue?

/RIP, ballsy, hot, Kiwi camerawoman

I'd meet Margaret several times. She never let the trauma she suffered from the sniper shot slow her down (it did some serious damage). There are others who knew her better, but from just the few times I'd meet her she was an impressive lady. She started her career with film and tape, but was happy to learn working how to do things with a laptop and Final Cut. She'll be deeply missed.

I agree. And musicians or people in extreme sports who think they are hardcore should try warzone photojournalism.

Agreed.

Whoa, this woman was just chock-full of awesome. What an incredible inspiration for all. I'll make a point to watch the documtary. Most of us can only dream of living such a full life. I know I've fanatasized about that Mississippi houseboat thing ever since I was a kid. The combat photojournalism...not so much.

Thanks, subby!

She forced colleagues to tell her who they'd rather sleep with, while giving them horrifying choices.

She'd be fired for sexual harassment in a second today for that.

DaMacGuy: I'd meet Margaret several times.

And this is why I hate you right now.

Too few people are willing to do the kind of stuff that she did. We need more of them.

Wow..what an inspiration. I have been a police officer, fireman, in the army, and flown planes, but this woman makes me feel as if my life is lacking. What a great two videos about this free and independent spirit that some people had the good luck to be around.

RIP lady...you were even beautiful after they shot you.

They did a complete bio on her last year when they knew she wouldn't be around long. As soon as CNN runs the, "Steve Jobs: Communications Titan" story, I'm going to make some moves in my portfolio.

And her love of animals was so deep that she refused to ride in a horse-pulled wagon, preferring to run with heavy equipment in the desert heat while on assignment in Petra, Jordan.

Margaret Moth lived life to the fullest

Not so much. It's inexcusable for someone to die of colon cancer in this day and age. Yeah it's undignified to have some creepy gastroenterologist and they're all creepy shove 4 feet of flexible endoscope up your butt but the alternative is much worse. So do live life to the fullest, swallow your pride, spit out your dignity and get ass-farked by the black snake. Everybody owes it to somebody even if it's just some stupid cats in Istanbul.

2010-03-21 04:38:16 PM
Those Istanbul cats may look scrawny, but they are pretty spoiled by all except the children who kick them for fun. Tough SOB's too.

That sounds dangerously like some kind of technological life extension. We don't take kindly to that on Fark. We all believe in the natural life span of humans and the inevitable onset of aging, except when we don't.
