THAT is what I thought.

No, he's incorrect. HR 3590 is the Senate bill that they'll be passing later today. Its official title is "To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to modify the first-time homebuyers credit in the case of members of the Armed Forces and certain other Federal employees, and for other purposes." It's just a quirk of how Congress works.

I want to remind everyone watching:

Rep. Paul Ryan, the man with the graphs, voted FOR the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit Act which added literally over a trillio dollars to the debt. Please remember that as he lectures us.

Shouldn't that chart read "Tsunami of debt?" I was taught tidal waves were the wrong term (except for normal wave action).

Racht: Brian Beutler reports: After a protester is removed from the House gallery for shouting "Kill the bill," Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) tells reporters: "I've never seen members of the House cheering on a guy resisting being kicked out of the gallery. It's a dangerous situation and the Republicans are cheering him on." Some Republicans were reportedly applauding anti-reform protesters.

I guess that's what happened earlier.

House democrats really need to grow a pair and censure some of these pricks.

Hender: Boehner's already making noise about repealing the bill "when" the Republicans take control of Congress later this year, which tells me A) Republicans will have something to continue to get worked up about after today, and B) John Boehner doesn't really understand how the legislative process works, what with the President needing to sign stuff and all.

EVeryone remember that this dude, Rep. Ryan, is supposed to be the budget genius of the GOP in the House. He is the rising star. He's the guy with the brains.

Remember that as you watch this idiot spew talking points.

Bob Dolemite: 1.2 MILLION DOLLARS!!1!11!

If you listen you'd be surprised how often the house confused millions, billions and trillions. I just heard the guy say $600 trillion when he meant billion.

You're right but earlier, they were holding votes on other bills.

2010-03-21 02:26:23 PM
You know, I keep hearing that this bill is completely "unfunded." They're still debating this as if there were a public option. Where does this cost the government so much money? We're still paying our premiums to private insurance firms, are we not?

That's right, we're not getting between patients and their doctors.

Unless they're wimmen, that is. Then we gotta take care of them.

2010-03-21 02:27:38 PM
I am watching CSPAN right now Paul Ryan (R. Wisc) is talking about how much debt this bill will cause, and how we can't afford it. I doubt highly he was saying "we can't afford the war in Iraq." It is sick to me that we can afford massive MASSIVE amounts of money for defense contractors, but we can't afford to take care of our own citizens.
Politicians aren't just traitors to this country, they are traitors to the human race.

2010-03-21 02:27:55 PM
If this guy wants to cut the size of Washington's influence, he should radically scale back a worldwide military imperial presence. That costs more than anything else the Feds do. Now all of a sudden he's worried about a debt crisis? And rationing health care? We already ration health care, in a grossly unfair way.

Wut?
"Initially, the net cost of the program was projected at $400 billion for the ten-year period between 2004 and 2013. One month after passage, the administration estimated that the net cost of the program over the period between 2006 (the first year the program started paying benefits) and 2015 would be $534 billion.[17] As of February 2009, the projected net cost of the program over the 2006 to 2015 period was $549.2 billion.[18]"

/Thinks it was as stupid as this bill
