Is there room here for one more? I can sit quietly in the back of the room, I promise! (Not like those clowns in the gallery)

I expect the bill to pass and for the Dems to lose seats in the Nov election. I also expect Republicans and TV pundits to make more of any connection between the two than is really there.

But that's why they get the big bucks and I just think about things.

2010-03-21 01:57:56 PM
oohh.. disturbance in the gallery. This has more tension than a Hitchcock flick.

Well, you could always give them a hand. It may be the only way they can get ahead.

Keep making them the butt of your jokes.

Weaver95: MiddleyMcCentrist: Somacandra: Is the real up or down vote on the big enchilada scheduled anytime soon?

There are at least 3 more 5-minute votes on various legislative smegma.

i'm getting a max maxx vibe here. has Lord Humongous called for a vote yet?

"Just walk away".

I hope some feral kid jumps in front of the camera and starts gnawing on a table.

How can you vote against approving the record of the previous day's activity?

"What happened yesterday did not happen!"

something just happen? I'm at work and have no access to a live feed.

Now, see, if Nancy was presiding, she'd settle them right down.

Why the hell is this kind of vote even necessary? These rules need serious reform.

Man, you're definitely gonna get a few fish with that one.

Umokay, I don't think there is anything in the bill that would prevent your sister and brother-in-law from continuing their coverage basically as is, and while this bill doesn't completely prevent insurance companies from denying some specific coverages, it greatly reduces their ability to do so, particularly for so-called 'pre-existing conditions' and in the case of ongoing treatments, etc. that become costly. If those are your worries, you should support this bill.

fnu: 2 hours of general debate! YES! This is the best Sunday EVER.

For serious. I 'love' how the Right tries to make "doing congressional business on a Sunday" into "SNEAKING IT IN OVER THE WEEKEND!" ... Sorry, I have a job. The only time I get to watch is on the weekend.

Ostensibly, you could believe that the record was inaccurate.

Or, you could just be a dick.

DamnYankees: How does this host woman not go home and put a gun in her mouth. This is the worst job ever.

Because at night she goes home, changes into a skimpy braless outfit, and hosts "Night Calls 411" on the Playboy Channel. It balances out.

This only going to get better from here and it's pretty damn good right now!

Why aren't we watching this hilariousness all the time?

If anyone would vote that way, it would be RON PAUL.

"There's no mention of yesterday in the Constitution. Therefore, I vote no."

lerry: And people are now voting against approval of the record of last day's activities...That makes sense.

Some Republicans are saying "Nay" on reflex. I think the Dems could trick them Bugs Bunny style. Make a movement "Who agree's that the Bill should not pass?". That would Fark them up. You'd have them in the death camps before they could change their vote.

It occurred to me, pointless votes like these are a cheap and easy way for Congressmen to position themselves wherever they want on the rankings of the ideological spectrum. If you're a Democrat in a conservative district, you can "break with the party" a lot and look conservative in the rankings. By...voting every day against approving the record of the previous day's activities.

I thought that when doing those rankings, you only count non-routine votes.

Now we're voting to approve journals. What is this, Sweet Valley High?

2010-03-21 02:02:58 PM
I notice there were no calls during that vote. Who wants to bet the lady stormed up to the producer and said if she doesn't get a break from the insane callers she's going to bite someone's head off.

Hmm, don't know. I can't think of any reason it wouldn't be a party line vote unless it counts for something.

What was the disturbance? I had the usual talking-heads-yelling-at-each-other nonsense on CNN and missed it.
